modes of sublimated expression which give the illusion of uniqueness to the domesticated larval become homogenized (beautiful word) to Soviet or television uniformity” (Leary 99). Leary theorizes that this entails a complete suspension of second-circuit territory concepts—ownership and “I’m somehow better than you” thinking—and boldly suggests that socialist or communist governments are the only means to this end.
His lofty assumptions and overly decisive language seem to ignore the countless uncertainties of the future of life on earth. Written in 1977, Exo-Psychology did not foretell terrestrial events such as the rising global warming trend, the inevitable end of the Era of Oil, nuclear/biochemical warfare, or the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean—all events that surely have had more effect on the human race than any government or other organization of human will.
Evolution is a response to a creature’s surroundings and our surroundings (society, media, the workplace, school systems and universities) suggest a trend towards collective individualism rather than collective anonymity like that of the strictly organized society of A Brave New World. Leary is right—the energy of sexual and domestic instincts should no longer be exerted solely for the welfare of the family, but for the betterment and well-being of society at large. If each individual is offered the best that his surroundings have to offer, and he is encouraged to be the best creator he can be, then he will become the best individual he can be, therefore offering the best to his surroundings, and the cycle continues. The harmony and collective evolution of the species is reliant not on the homogenization of the human personality, but on the communion of human individuals offering their best personalities, free of social normalcy expectations and prerequisites. The hive mentality of corporate consumptive behavior hints at this, but it is still based on and emphasizes the importance of self-definition, individuality, ownership, and possession for the well-being of the individual and familial unit, rather than the contribution one can make to his or her surroundings. It is as if we have all the materials necessary for the construction of the most ideal vehicle in human history, but everybody has directions written in the wrong language. It seems the time has come for the Tower of Babble to come together again.
Neurosomatic Circuit The fifth through eighth circuits are triggered and imprinted in much the same fashion that the first four are, however, they deal with much different subject
