Further into the Crypt
“Well, we’ve made it to the stone floor,” Flameshade announced.
“That’s great,” Snowgust rejoiced as she stepped onto the stone incline and collapsed at its peak. “A haven!”
Flameshade chuckled before ruffling the hot-headed witch’s light brown hair, “You’re kind of cute.”
“Thanks,” Snowgust took the compliment for what it was and watched the Gerard heir remove his robe and wring the water out of it. “I didn’t think about that…”
“It would make your robe easier to wear,” Flameshade assured her as he slipped his lighter robes back over his slacks and plain shirt.
Snowgust undid her robe revealing the fancy black dress she was wearing beneath the robe—the dress’ bottom was soaked up to the witch’s knees. “That makes sense,” she commented as she wrung out the crypt’s water from her robes. The hot-headed witch blushed when the warlock dropped to his knees before her and began yanking on the frills of her dress. “What are you doing?”
“Your dress is soaked too,” Flameshade replied.
“Wow, sorry we interrupted,” Aquashade grinned sheepishly as he and Lillybreeze finally made their way up to the incline that led to the flat, not waterlogged part of the crypt.
“We’ll go wait in the water,” Lillybreeze suggested.
“I’m helping her dry her dress you pervert!” Flameshade snapped, blushing a little. He continued helping her get the water from her dress, glaring over at his snickering brother.
“That does seem logical to do,” Lillybreeze slid off her robes revealing a similar red dress as her sister was wearing. She began wringing out the water from her robe and eventually the frills of her dress before she redressed herself.
“Indeed,” Aquashade whispered as he lazily forced some of the water from his robe and gave up after drying the front. “Shall we continue?”
“You’re really abusing your robes like that?” Flameshade asked.
“I’m sure as hell not taking them off. This place is chilly enough,” Aquashade answered dryly.
“Well, alright, then,” Flameshade cleared his throat and tried to look dignified as he led the group through the dark and fairly creepy crypt.
“Are you alright?” Snowgust asked as she caught up to Flameshade.
“Yes, I’m fine. Why do you ask?” he whispered.
“Because you hurried away from me like I bite,” Snowgust answered.
“I’m just hoping that we find our brother and your sister before tonight—before our relatives do something stupid…”
“What are you getting at?” Snowgust inquired.
“Well, each family only knows that their heirs are missing. Do you think they’d be logical and try to find them or reckless and attack the rival coven thinking that they were dead?” Flameshade explained his thought train.
“You’re right…we could cause a revolutionary war…” Snowgust said nervously, “Well, our families. You two seem to have logical thoughts.”
“Thanks,” Flameshade blushed.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Lillybreeze asked.
“Getting married from the looks of how closely they’re walking together,” Aquashade grumbled.
“Why are you such a sourpuss when it comes to romance?” Lillybreeze asked.
Aquashade blushed, trying not to think about how cute she was as he stared down at his feet. “I just hate mushy stuff.”
“Me too. Mushy stuff is all icky like mud…” she said thoughtfully.
She is so adorable... Aquashade thought to himself as he stole a glance of the impeccable witch. I’m only thirteen…I don’t need to be thinking about marriage or lust…or how pretty she is…and how cute her innocence is…
“What are you thinking about?” Lillybreeze asked, leaning closer toward the adorable blonde warlock.
“About marriage and stuff…”
“Why? Aren’t you a little young for that?” Lillybreeze asked with a coy smile.
“I…well…” Aquashade rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment, “My brother fell in love with your sister when he was three. I guess that we’re not ever too young to think about it, right?”
“And who would you see yourself marrying?” Lillybreeze mused, not having a clue that the warlock was falling in love with her more and more by the second.
“A beautiful, powerful witch with a loving air to herself,” Aquashade announced, hoping his description wasn’t too vague.
“Do you think you know her future bride?”
Aquashade nodded, “I suppose you could say that.”
“I get it! You’re shy around her, aren’t you?”
Aquashade smiled crookedly, feeling quite awkward, talking to his counterpart about his feelings for her that had developed out of nowhere. “Well, yes, I mean she’s wonderful and she’d never go for a warlock so it’s not even worth it to try.”
Lillybreeze shook her wavy brown locks, “You can’t say that. You’re a good boy, and you’ll become a good man. Any girl would be happy to be given to you.”
Flameshade smiled as he glanced over his shoulder at his mortified younger brother and the ignorant witch that his brother was crushing on. He whispered to Snowgust, “I don’t think she knows that he’s talking about her.”
“No, she doesn’t,” Snowgust agreed.
“Th-thanks,” Aquashade stammered. He continued to stare at his boots as they walked, aware that Lillybreeze was watching him out of curiosity.
“Are you that worried about tripping?” Lillybreeze asked.
“Huh?” Aquashade glanced up at her.
“You keep staring at your bots like you’re afraid of tripping,” Lillybreeze explained.
“Oh, no…” he whispered. “I was just thinking.”
“Why do you think so much?”
“It’s just who I am,” Aquashade replied.
“Do you think…?” Snowgust glanced over her shoulder and back to meet Flameshade’s emerald eyes.
“I don’t have to think,” he whispered.
“Alright,” Snowgust accepted his insight. “What is to come of our other brother and sister?”
“The same thing,” he whispered.
“Alright,” Snowgust blushed before glancing back up at the warlock.
“Before you even ask me, ask yourself the same thing,” Flameshade murmured. He managed to hide his embarrassment, already having guessed her next question too easily.
“Done,” she said enthusiastically.
“What did you find?” he asked.
“I found that I don’t know what you think,” Snowgust replied.
His normally cold gaze softened as he stole a glance of the dark-tressed witch. “I figured that I gave you a big enough hint about that.”
“Apparently not,” Snowgust said dryly.
“Think about it,” Flameshade said with a smirk before gazing off into the darkness again, in silence.
