The big bad crash just deleted a month from my life. *sigh* Interestingly, yesterday I started a paper diary for Sundays. The timing there is... interesting.
If you don't think it's possible to associate emotions with machines, simply because they are machines and only people have emotions -- then you yourself are a machine.
People reflect their emotions and everything about their lives onto everything, and as a narrative tool it is incredibly powerful. A candy wrapper in the gutter can be the saddest story in the universe; a machine grinding away and never getting any results done could be the perfect expression of frustration.
