I recently fell in love with this creative sci-fi movie called "Donnie Darko"...im sure many of you have never heard of this movie before, but i urge you all go rent it and check it out...it really is worth it. Here are some of my favortie quotes from the movie:

<img:http://homepage.mac.com/fipster/church/sleeves/video/donnie-darko.jpg>

Donnie: "First of all, Papa Smurf didn’t create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel’s evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario <laughs> is just couldn’t happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don’t even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That’s what’s so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What’s the point of living if you don’t have a dick?"

Donnie: "You’re right, actually. I am pretty… I am pretty troubled and I’m pretty confused but I… and I’m afraid really really afraid. Really afraid. But I… I think you’re the fucking antichrist."

<img:http://www.bergen-filmklubb.no/images/Donnie_Darko_3.jpg>

Donnie Darko: "Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"
MD Frank: "Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"

Donnie Darko: "What’s “Cellar Door”?"
Karen Pomeroy: "This famous linguist once said that of all the phrases in the English language of all the endless combinations of words in all of history, that “cellar door” is the most beautiful."

Donnie Darko: "I promise that one day everything’s going to be better for you."

Donnie Darko: 'Deus ex machina.'

Donnie Darko:"Dear Roberta Sparrow, I’ve reached you in your book, and there’s so many things I need to ask you. Sometimes I’m afraid of what you might tell me. Sometimes I’m afraid that you’ll tell me that this is not a work of fiction. I can only hope that the answers will come to me in my sleep. I hope that when the world comes to an end I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to."

A wise friend of mine once wrote this:
The funny thing about life is that everyone is living one, but no one on the planet knows what it is aobut. Maybe the flower children got it down with the love bit. About how love is life's purpose and it lifts us up where we belong, and all you need is love. Or maybe it's the celebrities, because if your name's not in a history book, who are you really, it won't matter in one hundred years. Maybe the jocks will surprise us, maybe life all about victory. But who wins? How do you win? What's the prize? (Not that prizes whould be the reason to live well.) The way i see it is this-Life could always get a little bit worse, but then again, it could always get a little bit better too and the latter is more important to remember....

Because I'm in one of those moods I think that I will right another diary entry tonight…but what should I talk about…I have so many ideas running in my head, I don't know what to talk about...How about this: The power of words. (this was inspired by a friend.) How powerful are words? Well in my opinion I think that anyone who thinks that they mean nothing is either in denial or just naïve. Words can inspire strong emotions like hate and love I know, I almost missed out on a great friendship because of it…For example, the word “nigger” or “faggot” the prior being very taboo and the latter being a part of common speech nowadays, or at least it is in my society. How can people think that these words mean nothing and are nothing more than words. I mean the intent of theses words are usually to inspire a negative feeling or make someone feel less then what they are. And that usually is the effect of the word; people feel hurt and sad. It all comes down to the childhood saying “If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all” (Although people tend to miss or rather ignore the easiest lessons) So then, why do people use hateful speech, is it because they don't realize the potency or these words (not just “nigger” or “faggot”) or is it because they are really hateful people? I think that both are possible, right? I don't think that people realize how much there words can mean to someone, sometimes we may think that we are being playful or we know that WE are joking when we constantly antagonize someone when what we say can really hurt the recipient. It seems that our intent of the words can be distorted from the way we imagined they would be when heard on the other side. For example, being told to “shut up” constantly, even if it is in a joking matter sometimes the constant negative reinforcement can start not only to get annoying but also depressing. And when people are left to their own imagination, these intended playful words can be turned into a feeling of loneliness and a sense that one doesn't like you. I think that my general feeling is that words are powerful and while they can inspire love and happiness they can also inspired hate and loneliness which is an awful feeling.  There is no need for another rhetorical question: Its important to note that often the intent of words are mixed up or people don't realize how their words may and will effect another. I think and we should all be conscience of what we say and realize that words can hurt people. I hope that who ever reads this, looks into themselves and starts to understand the power their words and how they may effect even your closest friends. After all why have speech if words mean nothing? I think that might be one of the biggest problems with humans: the lack of communication

Why is being the best at something a thing that or society values? Maybe that's the wrong question to ask, instead: Why must people be arrogant and pompus when they are the best at something? I think that's the worst thing that anyone can do when they succeed: to brag about it. What's the point? We do it so others know that we are the best, but why is that important? And i dont ask these question as if I'm totally innocent...its not like I've never bragged about something...but why do we do it? I've tried the best i can to stop myself when i hear my ego taking over my voice, but sometimes my ego does get the best of me. Why isnt knowing that we are good enough to appease our ego, shouldnt we be humble and if we arent then arent we just as bad as those who fail and get upset. We all hate that dont we? This part of human nature bothers me...Its not just the pompus behavior, but any (for lack of a better word) "evil" thought or emotions (i.e. greed lust hate...just go through the seven deadly sins and add some more.) I know that we are human and are going to inevitably make mistakes. It's just too bad that the majority of people cant regonize this and try to stop themeselves when their ego or hate or greed etc takes a hold of them. I think that people would find themeselves living in a better world not only in the marcocasm sense but also in the microcasm of their own world which includes the soul, mind and body. Maybe if people would regonize this we would find our own inner peace which would then radiate to the world around us (and no this isnt a cry for world peace, i just me Peace in the sense of happiness.) I believe that Thoreau was right in the sense that we should find our own peace (not as in world peace) but within one's mind and spirit and then it will inevitalby spread to others...the rest truly does follow. Although, many mock Thoreau's ideas as well as the one I suggested and that truly is a shame. People (not society but indivuals) will find it one day, when they see that they won a board game or did better on a test then a friend did and CHOOSE not to act like a Jackass. When speaking to a friend of mine, they said that knowing that they are right is the most important thing to them....is that wrong?....some may say no. In fact, even though i believe there are more important things then that, i dont believe that its a terrible thing. Its the letting every know that you are right or fighting to the death and arguement that they themeselves know is right, or isnt right for that matter. And like i said earlier im guilty of this too, but i realize this and truly try to change it...as i urge anyone who reads this.

Why do we build Castles in the Sky????
I’m so glad that you asked that question? Now I've thought of that for a long time since i started to listen to the song which appears on the hit game DanceDanceRevoluiton for Xbox and Playstation2.  Now I thought the same thing and wish to know what it meant and and answer to the question "why do we build castles in the sky?" so turned to the vast world that is the Internet to find out what the hell the lyrics to the song mean. But I couldn't.... I read an interview with the writer and singer of the song, and she said that she doesn’t want to tell what it means; she wants people to figure it out a meaning that fits theme. So I did just that. I first will explain what the question means and then will answer it, although the answer may appear obvious.
Meaning: Okay I think that the song and that line of the lyrics refers to goals that we set for ourselves or just living life happy in general. We must first FLY in the sky above the earth; above the earthly problems or obstacles that face us on the earth which prevent us from reaching our goals, or being happy in life whether they be peers or family or any earthly thing. That is the easy part, now for the hard part... But we ourselves make our own obstacles in the sky as we fly (the metaphor i made for living.) These obstacles I call Castles...Castles sooooo big that we cant even see around them, let alone fly around. (I know this sounds weird). These Castles or obstacles are self-made by emotions like: self-doubt, greed, anger, and jealousy. Selfishness...ect.... stuff like that, and these Castles get in our way of either reaching our goals or living life happy. SO now the question:
Why do we build castles in the sky?: I don't know, the only reason I can think of is 'we are human.' BUT what I DO know is that while these castles are bad they are avoidable...sure we may feel anger, envy, doubt, once in a while, but we are not to dwell on these feelings, we must let them pass and the castle goes away and we can fly/live freely. Get it.
It may be a stretch but that is what I think about those lyrics and what it means.
What do you think?

Let it Be

When i find myself in times of trouble
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

All you need is love

Love, love, love.
Love, love, love.
Love, love, love.

There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game.
It’s easy.

Nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time.
It’s easy.

All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.

All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.

Nothing you can know that isn’t known.
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.
It’s easy.

All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.

All you need is love (all together, now!)
All you need is love. (everybody!)
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need (love is all you need).

Yee-hai!
Oh yeah!
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.

All Good Gifts

We plow the fields and scatter
The good seed on the land
But it is fed and watered
By God's almighty hand
He sends the snow in winter
The warmth to swell the grain
The breezes and the sunshine
And soft refreshing rain

All good gifts around us
Are sent from heaven above
So thank the Lord, oh thank the Lord
For all his love

We thank thee then oh Father
For all things bright and good
The seedtime and the harvest
Our life, our health, our food
No gifts have we to offer
For all thy love imparts
But that which thou desirest
Our humble thankful hearts

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
But Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
