Gun Shots.Bullets wizz by his head.
He pulls the trigger.One,Two,Three men down. He almost wished someone had shot him. Then he could go home and see her. That's what this was all about. It wasn't because it was his duty, it wasn't because his country asked him to, it was because he wanted to make the world a better place for her. She wasn't his but he loved her, loved her enough to kill for her, to take a bullet in the chest for her.
He ran, hoping it wouldn't be long till he could go back to base and call her. Kicks in the door,checks the area. Clear. Runs up the stairs. Nothing. Turns the corner, a man shoots and misses. He pulls the trigger and the man goes down. Too Easy. He runs to the open window, opens fire on hostiles below. They retreat,whats left of them. He has a moment to think about something other than killing. He thinks of the day he had to tell her goodbye. He remembered how hard she tried not to cry but did anyway. A tear fell down his face. He broke her heart when he left. He promised her he'd come back safe and alive. He kissed her a final goodbye. The kiss lasted forever it seemed but when it ended the world seemed to shake.
They are best friends, at least in public. In private they are best friends who get a little too passionate. Dust flew everywhere, the memory was over. Reality came back to him. Gun fire ensued. It lasted forever it seemed but really only took minutes. He was ambushed.
Four shots to the chest. He wasn't going home alive like he promised.
He closed his eyes and saw her face, smelt her perfume,felt her touch,tasted her kiss, then died.
