The hell is going on in Britland? Question partly rhetorical, because after reading a couple of Tumblr updates I went off and googled to find out what they were talking about. But still. The eff?

Ropecon over. Now for some sleep. Not online much tomorrow either, since we'll be off to see grandpa. I understand that we'll be returning sometime on Tuesday.

I'll be getting a new lappy today :D With any luck I won't be subjected to random freeze-ups and crashes, and can actually visit the sites I usually keep well away from for fear of aforementioned freeze-ups and crashes. Methinks I'll be getting that Skype, too.

The most interesting characters (that I could recognise) seen today: a stormtrooper, and the three musketeers plus D'Artagnan.
Attended a talk about mediaeval heroes.
Bought a very pretty necklace - will have a photo later.
Spotted familiar faces, hung out, and played a couple of rounds of Dalmuti.

Also, got a blister at the base of my thumb (and chafed it open) while trying to open a bottle of water. No, I am not that weak. That cap just didn't want to come off.

My first actual work shifts are tomorrow. I'm in the volunteer workforce, y'see, which entitles me to a free entrance. I'm in the GM info team thanks to utter and complete nepotism - Jukka's the person responsible for coordinating stuff related to tabletop RPs.

At Ropecon this weekend and therefore not around much. Shall try to take photos of any possible Malfoys and other interesting characters.

There are winged ants all over the place. Photos to follow at some later point this evening.

While cleaning and re-arranging the bookshelves in my room here in Helsinki, I came across some old writings I've never put online. This poem is one of them. Nothing has been altered from the original, so you can blame any badness on that.


Beneath this sky
my world has no boundaries
all rules have been relinquished;
fugitives have no use
for careful words, soft steps
yet the paradox lies herein
in freedom there is fear
and our bodies have no grace

Trickling slowly from
dry broken lips
empty pledges wrap around me
like a cocoon of
cold fire; licking, burning
flickering almost gently
against scaly skin
aglow with shame or
something fiercer

Either I have to learn to pay no mind to all the bloodsucking little creatures or start using some sort of repellent. Fidgety, flaily Lami does not a good photographer make. Also: OW. ITCHY.

I'm off to spend the rest of the week with the boy, so I might not be around all that much. Try not to miss me. :P
