I'm baaaaaack and have 500+ photos to sort through and also books to read for an exam next Saturday and just lots of stuff to do in general but Elftown will always be open in a tab so wheeee. Um. Hi.
Always seem to be a little bit off the day after travelling. Well, more off than usual, that is.
Off to Paris in the morning. :3
Hi there.
I'm sort of back, but not really. Due to reasons, I have retired from the council (for now); however, I'm still open to help out wherever I can. My presence here will continue to be sporadic. For the next couple of weeks I'm going to play catch-up between reading novels for a lit exam, writing an essay on functional grammar, playing Path of Exile, cleaning my room here in Helsinki, and just life in general.
Oh, also, going to Paris in a week and a half.
I'll try not to disappear for months on end again.
I suddenly realised that my 10-year Elftown anniversary went by a couple of months ago. Huh. So time flies. :P
Day one on sertraline. Slight nausea coming and going pretty consistently. Can't wait for the other probable side effects. <_<
Random member zapping just have me my own house. Heh.
So, uh... Let me tell you a bit about what is going on in the English Philology department (which is no longer a department; they did away with those in the Faculty of Humanities back in 2008 before I even started there) here in Oulu. Last academic year, Professor Anthony Johnson jumped ship and spirited himself away to Åbo Akademi, the Swedish-speaki
In the autumn, two people applied for the role of Professor. Lisa-Lena, the then-Head of English Philology earned the spot but continued to be absent a lot. That's okay, as Professor she wouldn't need to be around quite so much, right? The other person, Elise, subsequently picked up the duties of Head. All's well and good!
...except not.
This morning, Head informs the students via e-mail that the Professor has passed away. The grapevine tells me it was most likely cancer. So this leaves us sans Professor for the second time within a year and skeptical of how long it will be before this ship sinks at last. It's been leaking for a long while.
Exciting times!
Finished rewatching North & South. Aaaaaagh. *insert keysmash* Lovely thing of loveliness!
*wobbles back in* Hi, sorry, yes, I'm alive. Sorry sorry sorry. Will begin resurrecting my internet presence this week. Once again.
