A recent finding when I was searching for a reference picture... An illustrators portfolio

Filled with machiney things. ^^
Have a peek.
I just wanted to share this with you (again? I can't remember if I've shown it before...)
It's a poem by Kurt Schwitters and it never stops working for me. The keen-eyed of you may have noticed that the date in the title is of some interest to me... ;)

November 7, 1918
On the morning of the great revolution
I cleaned my drafting pens thoroughly
knowing
they would not be used for a long long time.
The stockman was drunk on something
so I helped myself to pencils and paper
and sketched at the window
faces and flags, the shapes of laughter.
The iron works stoked up its engines
though the machinists only stood and talked
so at noon when the great revolution arrived
in a car full of sailors waving red flags
the steam whistles blasted a welcome
far louder than the cathedral bells.
The streets filled with singing and dancing
the mounted police were nowhere in sight
the mayor's office was empty, the door unlocked
and soon the red flag hung from his window.
I wrote my resignation in fine Gothic script
and set off for home
all the drawings in my head
celebrating their hour of liberation.
For the soldiers had not yet hobbled home
and this was victory.
As we always knew it would
peace had won.

I have started to gather my treasure. Which is at the moment an envelope full of things I have and like to look at every once and a while. I hope to get enough eventually to have a proper treasure chest, and maybe even a whole treasure room some day (like Scrooge McDuck has his Trophy Room in Don Rosa's comics).
This has led me to think what treasure is, and why people (pirates) are obsessed with treasure, and what is fun about treasure. Treasure is very different from art. Art gets value from being seen and appreciated, the mor it is shared, the mosre valuable it gets; treasure's value comes from being kept and hidden, and the more people know of it, the less value it has as a treasure.
To me, treasure isn't any one thing, but a mount of things. Some have sentimental value, some have coolness-value
Just for safe-keeping. :3

On other news, Gaiaonline has their Summer Event water balloon fight, and I am hopelessly addicted to it >_> Please send help.
On happier news, I learnt how to call Argentina. Wikipedia FTW!

STFU in the parlance of Yoda. Acronym for "the fuck shut up."
"Stupid your argument is. TFSU you should." - Yoda
Yesterday I threw my dog's toy up on the roof, and had to climb after it to get it back.
Yesterday I also ordered myself a pair of boots from the army surplus store, if I recall correctly, the boots are used DDR (not Dance Dance Revolution, kiddies, the original DDR) army boots before they switched to the type of boots that are usual now (maiharit - http://images.
Today I did nothing. I watched Harry Potter with my sister and now I will go watch the Wizard of Oz. I will never get enough of that lion, he is s cool as the Bear in the Big Blue House.
That is all for today.
Omigosh! This is awesome!

Machines made out of glass... And they are the right colour! I found this guy on DevArt ( http://pakoh.d
Beautiful beautiful work. They are mechanic yet strangely organic. Futuristic but nostalgic. I love it so dearly.
Plaergh, I want an email everyday called "french word of the day", I signed up to the mailing list, but I'm not getting my daily french. Mu sister signed up for the same place for a spanish word of the day, and she's not getting them either. I'm confused, did I do somethign wrong, did it not list me, or is Hotmail being a tramp? I lowered my spam-guard to see if they'd come through that way, but still nuffin. I am not impressed. Shall attempt to faff, but we'll see. *sigh*
If anyone knows a working "french word of the day" -thing, let me know.
As a kind of preliminary poke-and-feel question to all you out there, do I know anyone who is interested in the theatre? I mean like making theatre, acting, writing plays, directing etc... Anyone of you guys ever done any amateur drama classes, been in school plays etc...?
Question: why do I look ginger in that photo? Odd.
Dog days. It's just as bad as it used to be: hot, lethargic and blah all over. Me and my sister decided that autumn shall be cat days, the exact opposite of dog days, a period of energy and happiness and time for people to get stuff done and work hard. We decided that these cat days, or feliculares dies, shall start on September 8th (my sister's birthday is the 9th) and run til November 8th (my birthdays is the 7th). So it will be a two-month period of refreshing weather, success in all sorts of attempts in worklife and lovelife for all people, and a general good cheer to get a lot done. I'd recommend people to get as much of their holiday-prepar
But cat days are here soon! If you believe it, it'll be and not leave!
Elftown greens have become a different shade! *panics and runs around the streets, mumbling to herself and wearing a tinfoil hat*
This diary-entry has nothing to do with [Viking] nor [All_Most PUNK]. In other words, it was a complete waste of time. ^,^
Came across this and I quite liked it. Not sure whether it's a true story or a piece of prose, but anyway. Good text.

The Rolling Panda Army!
[Warning. A lot of animated gifs on that page, slow connections might not likey.]
I actually think this is awesome. o.O It's also like proto-wiki-art
I habe new poll. People like [Viking] should all vote.
A better diary entry now, full of thoughts and stuff.
In favour of specialisation
I've been thinking about artificial intelligence. They measure it with the Turing test, in which the test administrator talks to the AI and a person, and if the tester can't tell the difference between man and machine in a conversation, the AI is given some kind of prize (so far no one has achieved this prize). Now, I keep thinking that there are people who would probably do a lot worse than the machine, and I bet not all of them have some kind of syndrome either. In general I find the idea of drawing conclusions about the inside of people's heads based on their expressions like speech and behaviour etc... Some people are shy and don't say a lot - that doesn't mean they are dumb. Some people can't control themselves - and again not talking about people who have clinical issues.
Bleh, it's the same as happening with new media: at first TV imitated radio before it evolved into its own medium with its own strenghts, web pages are laid out like magazines or they stream video/audio (copying TV broadcast), neither of which is necessarely the streght of the computer screen. The same is happening to AI because we are expecting it to behave like humans in order to admit that it is intelligent. That is like expecting a dog to act like a horse before acknowledging that the animal could be useful. Let's leave near-random association and pleasurable discussion to humans, and let AI do what it's good at, like... play chess. o.O
Another thing I've been thinking some time now was sparked into vocalised (or at least typed) thoughts by this quote (I was reading old forum-postings):
"By rejecting the ideas, they reject the people"
I digress. I consider drinking, smoking, drug abuse, homosexuality, atheism, etc etc... to be bad, a sin. Yet I don't hold those things against individuals (or even groups): I have friends who drink, smoke, take drugs, are gay or atheist (in my line of work they are the majority). Just the same as I expect people to not hold my mistakes and weaknesses against me, but to be understanding and patient with me, or simply to ignore my problems. Good friends I expect to help me when I need help - just as I'd be ready to help a friend if they asked for help.
Bleh. -_- Sometimes it's too hard to remain idealistic and positive.
If you don't read [Viking]'s diary, you missed out on something awesome. But 'cause I'm nice, here it is:
