WheeeEEEeeeEEE
Means. My uni subscribes to Land Of Lost Content* ( www.lolc.co.uk ) and I has access. Wayne Hemingway gave a lecture on it last wednesday and it was awesome and so is the site.
*Land of Lost Content is a gigantenormous database of 20th and 21st century commercial imagery of all sorts.
Edit.
I'll see if I can inline images from LoLC. Don't kill me Wayne Hemingway.
Squeee, it works!! Teh Sex!
Note. I won't go around inlining pictures from them. But it's good to know I can show people images from there. :3
Cross-posted from my DevArt (sorry Tempie :P):
Started my MA Media Arts and loving every second of it. Two modules running at the moment, Visual Language (research - easypeasy) and Reactive Media. Reactive media means artwork that somehow reacts to viewer/user's presence. Not necessarely interactive - just reactive. I know what I want to do: a machine that listens to the viewer. So you have to talk to it to make stuff happen. But what stuff? It will be a machine, and machines are made to do work. What can a machine that is fuelled by speech make or do? Build an object, power something else, move something, lift something..? I've been racking my brain and I can't think of anything. I really need someone to bounce ideas off of. I need suggestions! Help me!! I have to start planning this machine and I haven't a clue what it needs to do, so it is very difficult to start visualising it.
So, this is another installation of Halp iippo!. :P

In other news, BA fine art Hallowe'en fundraiser party is held in a pub on a Sunday, so I can't attend. -_- Fine, I didn't want to go to your smelly party anyway. But they are being a bit stupid - aside from the sabbath-deal, people usually have to go to work or school on a monday morning, so why would they want to go to a party on Sunday night?
Asshats.
Certainly clumsy, embarrassing, unprincipled, and mean spirited things do occur in our interactions with other people that would allow us to take offense. However, it ultimately is impossible for another person to offend you or to offend me. Indeed, believing that another person offended us is fundamentally false. To be offended is a choice we make; it is not a condition inflicted or imposed upon us by someone or something else.
I'm not sure about that to be honest. Although if it is true, it means that other people have less power over us, and that would be a nice thing. But can you really have so much control that you don't get offended when someone gets really personal? Is getting offended a matter of choice? I don't know.

Why do people feel better after talking? Like why is telling someone something "a load of your mind"? What is it really about?

Right, thank you all very much for commenting on that Maccy problem I has. :3 I'd like to clarify that it isn't my machine (as usual), it's a uni one so I'll have to be careful about installing stuff on it (they don't like it when students do stuff like that very much, I understand).
How can you run .exe files on Macs? It says that it doesn't know which application to use to open that type of files, and suggests that I decide for myself -_- Can it be done?
I has iMac.
Is not so gret actsully. :/

Developing from a Finn to a Coventry girl - A warning example
The Case Study.
The test subject was subjected to a situation where she either could not hear correctly or didn't quite catch something being said to her in a conversation.
In her first year in England, the reaction she had to the situation was to translate the response she would have in Finnish:
-What?
In her second year, Englishness had rubbed off on her from lovely native people, such as [deus-ex-machina], and she would reply with:
-Pardon?
In her third year, when she was cruelly removed from the beneficial influence of the above-mentione
-Ehh??
It sufficest to say that the individual is, indeed, sent to Coventry.
On another note, I accidentally had to pretend not to know Finnish on the airport when coming back his weekend:
I was on Stansted airport waiting for my check-in to open, and I noticed an older couple that were waiting also, and I was assured that they were Finnish too. They looked a bit like they didn't know English (it isn't uncommon for older people in Finland to not know English) When the check-in was opened, we all went to the queue. The couple was talking to themselves, and the man said "I wonder if we'll start hearing Finnish soon". I smiled and the man looked at me and said "over there?" or something like that, I kind of missed it. So I leaned towards them and asked "what", except I didn't, I said "eh?" So they thought I didn't know Finnish. And then I had to pretend to not be Finnish because it would have been too embarrassing to fix the misunderstadin

Halp iippo!
Do it today. Do something impossible...
I can't remember if I told you guys about it, but the Finnish band CMX has released a new album, which is basically a theme album: it's all one big "story" like an opera or a symphony (except it's not a narrative) and it's all sci-fi-ish and gorgeous and it has this 40-page libretto in it and each CD (of the 8000 released) is individually numbered and it's so shiny and pretty and I bought it right before coming to England again and I've been listening to it a lot lately and I'm all in its mood.
So if I change my mood into "my tomb is guarded by a hundred thousand killer satellites" or something like that, don't worry :P
Quoth [Viking]:
The Fonz is cool. But she may actually equate the words Fonz and Cool, whereas the truth is that "cool" is simply a property of "The Fonz", and not his essence.
