Town Herald Reviews
Trading in danger is the first book in a new series from Elizabeth
Moon, author of such favourites as the Serrano legacy series and The Deeds of
Paksenarrion. Now I, being a major Moon fan, heard about this book and bought
(illegally) an advance edition, the sort sent to bookstores as an example. I
wont name any bookstore-ish names, so as not to get them into trouble, but
believe me when I say a great big thank you! to them, this book is yet another
example of the brilliance of author Elizabeth Moon.
Trading in danger is a light science fiction novel, set in Moons usual world
of the Fleet military, space travel and above all, the spatial trade market.
Where other series and books have centred around the military aspects of
Moon's own little universe, this new series takes a deeper look at the trading
family's and companies who make their living trading between the various
colonies and space stations.
As usual with Moon's books we immediately love our heroine, the black sheep in
a staid trading family, and our hearts definitely go with her as she tumbles
from one gigantic mess into another.
With plenty of action, mistakes and even some door-stop like fruitcakes from a
well meaning relative, this first book promises yet another brilliant series,
and I recommend to all those who haven't yet, read Elizabeth Moon's work. You
wont be disappointed.
Now out is the second in the Trading series, Marque and Reprisal ,
don't miss it!
