Could the Green Lantern film become a reality?

This will probably be the shortest article in history. 

I have been doing quite a bit of research on the rumored Green Lantern live action film. It turns out there is much truth to these rumors although none of the details have been decided. As of today, February 17, 2007 these are the available facts:

1. Kevin Smith, Edgar Wrght and Jack Black are all being considered for screenwriter. Yes, I said Jack Black.

2.  The movie will most likely be about the Green Lantern Hal Jordan. Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and John Stewart run in close seconds.

3. Robert Smigel wrote an entire script for the movie featuring an unknown Green Lantern named Judd Plato, whom has been referred to as a “bumbling idiot” in many articles. The script was written especially for actor Jack Black. The script was not only refused by both Warner Brothers and DC Comics, but many fans worldwide. Black was quoted as saying that the idea of him as a Green Lantern "made a lot of fans mad,” and that he wouldn't be signing on for that role anytime soon.

4. Those in charge of this film have set their deadline and release for sometime in the Summer of 2009 and have promised “full Green Lantern Corps action..”.

So, those are all the facts I have been able to dig up via the internet, television and various magazines. I think the only thing we know for certain at this time is that we fans really want this movie and that it will someday become a reality. I will do my best to keep everyone updated on the latest from Green Lantern's big screen debut!
