A Reader's Companion to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings review

This short book is a collection of twelve essays concerning J.R.R. Tolkien's most famous works. The authors of the essays include great writers such as Asimov, Le Guin,and Lewis; critics such as Edmund Wilson; and fellow linguists such as W.H Auden. They cover a range of topics, but the most common is the sudden, massive popularity of LotR among university students in the US during the mid 1960's.

The book is a quick, fun read that may make you look at Middle Earth with a new perspective.

2012-01-15 [Mortified Penguin]: I've got this book. I haven't read it in years though. But I did just reread the last few pages by Le Guin, since I've been attempting to read some of her books lately.
