'The Avlin Circle' is based on the theory that our universe is less than a papers width away from other universes beside our own and that to see the other worlds, to go the distance....one must only reach out....and touch....
The main characters are pulled into a specific universe known to them only as 'The Seventh World'.
Their mission is to help a young girl named Elina return to her own world, because her future self is ambassador between worlds and stabilizes peace between them.
This time around Elina is older and normal contact between worlds is fast approaching. She is sent back into the seventh world, narrowly avoiding capture by forces who aim to stop her from reaching her ultimate destiny.
This takes place two years after the end of the previous Avlin Circle| though Avlin Circle 3| Game play.
[PROLOGUE] Elina walked through the New Years Eve Holiday Carnival in Central Park. She finished her cotton candy and was on the look out for a fun game to pass them time. She was scheduled to do an ice show with her skating company for a half hour starting at eleven thirty and ending just after midnight. The Black Eyed Peas, PINK, and The Jonas Brothers were singing their new singles during the show until eleven fifty eight when they all started a remixed version of a patriotic medley to celebrate the coming 2015 year. She sighed a bit. She enjoyed her life, she spent much of her time helping others now, but she couldn't help feeling that something was missing.
Of course she didn't dare mention this to anyone, not after the six months of therapy she had to go through to be convinced she had never fallen through a hole in the universe into a place called the Seventh World. That she had never met a Mord-sith named Cara, that she had never been killed by a crazed samurai named Kezka. That she hadn't lived and breathed in another universe for over a year.... She shook her head.
She usually knew better than to let her thoughts rest on Nevyar. It had been happening all to frequently lately... She shrugged it off and tried to find something to take her mind off it. A sign caught her eye. It was hand painted a rainbow and scrawled across it in red ink "PYSCHIC READINGS INSIDE. KNOW YOUR FUTURE- BUT BE WARNED, SUCH KNOWLEDGE COMES AT A PRICE". Elina grinned at the corny warning and traced the calligraphy with her finger. Why not?
And with one quick glance around she pulled back the purple curtain and stepped through the doorway.
Inside waited the stereotypical small table with two chairs, covered in a red cloth, a crystal ball and base sat on top of it. The base was made of silver and the leaves and vines on it curled away and up the sides of the crystal ball holding it in place. Elina sat down and tapped the little yellow bell.
A dark skinned man walked out from the gold and orange curtains separating this room from the back room further in the tent. Elina loved accents and held her breath until he spoke. {Welcome Bishara, You have come to Balozi Bamba for him to read your future?} She was delighted. A beautiful deep African accent emitted from the man sitting across from her. He had shining eyes and a patient smile. He is perfect to act as a psychic. This might actually be fun.
Elina smiled and nodded. {Direct your gaze Bishara, to my crystal ball. Let your mind relax and your thoughts flow. Tell Balozi what you want to know today.} Elina gazed into the crystal ball and stared at the shadows and light playing inside it.
What DID she want to know anyway?
I want to know..what I am missing.
Her mouth blurted out. When I will find it. And why I don't already have it.
Balozi nodded solemnly.
{This is a good question. A hard question. Tell me child, what do you see in Balozi's magic ball? What do you see...}
Elina concentrated, trying to make sense of the battling shadows and reflecting light. And suddenly she saw a brilliant blood red fill the shadows. Then it faded and she heard a voice asking for a wish... suddenly the shadows over took the light and two faces stared into her eyes.
'You will never succeed in your goal Elina Malacary, you will never join the worlds. Never. NEVER'
The message echoed strangely in her head, it disturbed her but she found she couldn't look away. She couldn't move her body...or was that paranoia? {Bimdogo, fear not. I will send you the Last Valley. Away from these spiders who see yo pull their web around you. And, to answer your question Bishara, you are missing that which you do not know you have. And you will find it in the place you don't remember. Be brave Bishara. You are more than you have become. And less than what you will be.}
Elina's mouth was dry, her hands shaky. The room spun like a bad dream. Elina closed her eyes...then nothing...
