This is the medical wing of the penitentiary where all the wounded are brought to get any form of crude medical treatment that can be provided to them.

The group brought Aaron into the room and dumped him, slightly unceremoniously onto one of the gurneys next to, of all things, a catholic priest.

Considering he was bleeding rather badly from some bullet holes, it was probably lucky that he woke up at all. But Aaron raised his head slowly, coughing and trying not to throw up; great, he'd only just managed two of them. If they hadn't caught him in the legs he would have managed to get the weapons faster. He couldn't quite figure out where he was though... his vision was more than a little blurred.

A more-than-firm hand pushed his head back down. "Dont move dammit. Lest you wanna bleed out." A gruff voice said to Aaron.

The words Aaron muttered to the person who, to be honest, he couldn't resist at all, was a in detail method in which they could damn themselves, any deity, loved one, animal or colour they hold dear. But he wasn't exactly in a state to struggle right now.

The man didnt seem to care what Aaron was muttering about. "I cant believe they managed to drag as many of ya'll back as they have."

"At least I took two out with me..." Aaron muttered under his breath, feeling as if his teeth were made of pure ice and lava was trying to force it's way up his throat.

"Pfft. That's nothin'." The man said as he came back over to Aaron with some medical tools, disinfectant, and lots of bandages, "The group that priest there was with, took out five. Only one person did it too from what they said." Without any warning he pushed Aaron over onto his side and started removing the bullets from his wounds.

"I had two shots. And-ah! watch it with those... it's like you've never had training..." Aaron hissed, a crease crossing his brow as the person taking the bullets out caused a spasm of pain. Not that there were many in, mostly they were flesh wounds that went all the way through.

"Oh, I've had training. Just usually working on less whiny people." The guy said as he finished removing the bullet and started probing the others for fragments or bullets.

"Well doctors always make the worst patients" Aaron muttered into the pillow gruffly, wincing again as they began to search around "I offered help dammit... and they shoot me in the leg..."

"Yep. Sounds like them." The man said as he set down his tools into sterilizing solution and began dressing the wounds with clean gauze and bandages. "They'll put you to use once your better and you'll be staying here for a few hours before they put you in a cell."

"The moment I get a knife that bastard is dying by it" Aaron growled gently, meaning the boss that had shot him the first time.

"I doubt it." The man said simply, "You're not the first person to say that and probably won't be the last."

"Ohhh, I'll be the last" Aaron muttered darkly, tightening his fists on the table "Just you watch..."

"Mmhm." The guy said as he returned Aaron to laying on his back. He wheeled over to the preacher who was breathing rather shallowly, and had a blood bag attached to an IV in his arm.

Aaron let out a weak grumble as he was wheeled along, blinking a few times as he felt his brain swimming in chemicals as if he'd had it pickled and placed on a desk. Great... another injured person.

"Just be glad your not as bad off as the priest here is." The guy said to Aaron, "Not even sure if he is going to make it through the night."

"His wounds sound wet. Have you properly sealed any incisions you've made in him? It sounds like he's sucking air through them" it was a half-asleep, badly wounded observation, but it was one he decided to make. Just in case.

"I've had more experience stitching up wounds then you do pissin'." The man said as he looked over the priest. "He lost a lot of blood before he got brought here."

"doesn't mean you don't go soft patching up priests for a bunch of retards" Aaron responded, coughing hard and shaking bodily "How's it feel, wiping the blood off their hands for them?"

"Keeps me up at night some times." The man said as he took his bloody tools to the sink to be washed. "But, it was either this or try to make it on my own out there."

"I was doing just fine" aaron pointed out with a small grunt, his face feeling half melted as he tried to resist sleep. Sleep meant that he couldn't look out for himself.

"Till you came across a large and decently armed group of men who shot you several times." The man said sarcastically, "In here, I am at least not in the sights of their guns."

"I wouldn't have been in the sights of their guns if I wasn't trying to protect another person." Aaron sighed softly, shaking his head at them "Being alone is perfectly fine... Protecting others is an ass."

"Either way. It would have been a matter of time before something killed ya." The doctor said, removing his gloves and tossing them into the trash.

"Bah" Aaron muttered grumpily, practically dissolved into the bed "I was doing fine. I'd rather die knowing I helped people than live knowing I got innocent people killed."

The man didn't say anything at first, instead he just shook his head. "Hm, so keeping you, the priest, and the hundreds of other injured people the thugs bring in is a bad thing? If it weren't for me they would have caused the death of a much larger number of people."

"You know what else would be better? Pouring arsenic in their water supply. Using water on their wounds instead of disinfectant. Taking care of the problem" Aaron pointed out "You don't pump people full of penicillin when they've developed the infection, you use a little alcohol to sterilise the wound. Get rid of the problem and you won't have to waste so much time pretending to be a good guy."

"You don't understand. You never will." The guy said with obvious anger in his voice. "It's easy for you to sit there and be all righteous."

"Really? Easy to sit here with bullet holes in my legs and ass?" Aaron pointed out with a small grunt, not caring if he annoyed the doctor "Does it look like I took the easy way?"

"So you've never taken up with a group just because it increased your odds of survival?" The doctor challenged, "You've been by yourself this entire time till you ran into whoever it was that got you into this problem?"

"No. I joined people, I fixed them up, but I never stuck by them if they did something I didn't like. I've improperly fixed the murder/rapists leg so he drops the next time he tries to outrun the zombies. I help good people. And I'm not talking stupid moralities here, I just mean people who aren't going out of their way to hurt others for no reason. I joined other groups, I helped where I was needed, but I used it to weed out the ones I thought needed going" Aaron was half wanting to punch this doctor in the face.

"So you think it's ok to play judge, jury, and executioner to whoever it is you want?" The man said, getting increasingly upset. "Who the fuck do you think you are to decide who lives and dies? You're no better then the thugs you talk down about."

"Really? You really look at these people and go oh no, they're rape and murder of that small child, that's totally allowable because you're not allowed to do it?" Aaron spat "Like you said, judge, jury, executioner. I don't do it that often, if that's what you're thinking, but since there's no law out here, yes, I've decided to be a judge, I've decided to be a jury, and since no one else will, I'm an executioner. Judge and Jury at least means I think about it... not just kill them for fun, like these psychos."

"You're just a sick sociopath like them." the man said, "I don't kill people because 'They deserve it'. I don't kill people at all." He got up and walked over to Aaron's gurney and moved him over to the door and opened it, "Get out of my room." He said and gave Aaron's gurney a gentle shove. Enough to get him several yards down the hallway but not enough to send him careening out of control or to flip.

Aaron let out a little laugh, shaking his head at the man's reaction. He'd lied. He'd never killed anyone. He'd done sloppy work perhaps, not disinfected a wound, but he then left in the middle of the night when he had a chance. He had gotten in a fight once in a while when they tried to do something cruel... something stupid... but he usually avoided gangs who looked like that. He just hid. But this time he'd been trying to protect Dare. His lies to the medic were, to be honest, him trying to convince himself that he could kill these men. He could kill the people who had done this to him. If he could convince that guy, he just might be able to do it.
