Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy Review

One of the more recent gifts that I have gotten has been the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures, and I must say, I’m not impressed. I’ll admit that the idea is a good one, what with the interchangeable outfits and so forth, but I think that I’ll stick with my actual action figures from the show that have multiple points of articulation and that don’t look like they belong on a Lego Play-set.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure is about two inches tall and is very blockish. For the record, I’m really not impressed with all of the different “block” figure toys that are on the market as of late. I suppose that for fans of “Buffy,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure does resemble the character, but I wouldn’t expect anyone who was not a fan of the show to pin the figure for Buffy, let alone Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure features Buffy very much as she looked in the first few seasons of the show. One of her two faces pretty much resembles that of the generic blonde female, sans the nose (which none of the Palz figures seem to have, how’s that for realism?), and is topped with a pony-tail. The other features a generic frightened look, which can be topped off with another hair option. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure also features a tiny cross necklace, presumably the one that Angel gives her in the first season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure has the same points of articulation that the other Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures do, including neck, wrists, waist, knees, ankles and more. Despite all that, they still can’t stand up against a true six-inch action figure as far as pose-ability goes. Besides, even when posed, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures still look more like blocks than actual characters from the show.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure comes with a few accessories, including the standard Inkworks card, the tombstone that each of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures seem to come with (build-a-cemetery, I assume), two stakes, a book, and a pool cue (we see her kill Vamps with pool cues in the show, but oddly enough, we never actually see her play with them…).

Again, the idea for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures is great, and compared to the other Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz figures, the Buffy one isn’t a terrible sculpt, though some of the other character sculpts from this series do come with more accessories. However, I oppose the whole block-figure idea, especially when labeling toys as “action figures.” Therefore, I do not recommend the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Palz Buffy figure.
