Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme review

When I first got Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème I thought it was a great idea, a great product. At that time, I was waitressing and washing dishes at a local restaurant, and my nails and cuticles were in pretty terrible condition from being so dry all of the time. I thought that Cuticle Crème would be a lifesaver for my fingers, though it didn’t really turn out that way at all.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème is the first and only Cuticle Crème that I have ever had any experience with. In fact, until I received a tin of it for my very own, I had had no idea that Cuticle Crème even existed. Thankfully the 0.6 ounce, six dollar, tiny tin was gifted to me or else I would be feeling rather foolish for ever having purchased such a product.

Intended to be used on the skin around and surrounding the nails (both fingers and toes), Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème is a moisturizer to keep this skin soft and supple. Most people probably don’t think much about their cuticles, if they ever even notice them at all, but I noticed mine in a big way when they began to develop little cuts and peels…they hurt! Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème smelled delightful; just like a yummy lemon-flavored treat, and I thought that it just may do the trick and heal up my damaged cuticles. However, the product wasn’t really what I expected at all.

Generally, I have found that crèmes are less greasy than, say, body butters, though more oily than most lotions. However, my recent experiences with Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème have taught me that this particular crème is very oily indeed. By rubbing the tips of one’s fingers over the top of Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème, one may then begin to apply the Cuticle Crème to their cuticles. However, for me, that was not an enjoyable experience at all. Instead of my poor cuticles feeling immediately hydrated, all they felt was slimy, greasy, and gross. Additionally, it is difficult to ONLY coat one’s cuticles with Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème, so I ended up having to pretty much paint my nails with the stuff as well. Not only was that wasteful of the product, it also left me with oily fingers that I couldn’t use for…well, until I washed them. The greasy feel clung to my fingers until a good hand-soap removed every trace of the oily Cuticle Crème. 

Using Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème has not softened my cuticles at all, at least not that I have noticed. While I never expected Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème to heal the cuts and tears in my cuticles, I did expect it to help to make the undamaged cuticles on my body a bit less rough. However, that was not my experience. Sans making my fingers oily and good-smelling, Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème didn’t really do anything for me.
