Al'tul entered the Arena, and looked for the referee. Once he found them, he was surprised to see it was Amelia. "Hello, Miss Amelia." Al'tul greeted, taking a brief bow. "I am here to hone my skills, and test my new powers out. A single large enemy in a circus maximus will be sufficient." The corrupted terran had usually been in a team before, but Al'tul wished to see how he fared in solo combat against a dangerous foe.

Amelia nodded. "You wish for a moderate challenge than, I suppose?"
She was already walking towards a lever at the edge of the arena, and she rested her hand upon it. Al'tul supposed it would be used to bring in the beast which he'd have to slay.

"I am feeling a bit, awkward..." Al'tul replied, thinking that fighting alone was risky indeed but the corrupt terran was confident in his magical prowess, "Unleash a veteran lizard mauler, if you please. I will end him." While Amelia was on the other side of the arena, Al'tul made sure he was as far as he could be from the creature. Having it attack him soon after its release would make it difficult to kill. Al'tul had to plan his strategy perfectly in order to make it work against a foe several levels higher than himself.

"As you wish." Amelia replied from across the arena, and she pulled the lever...

Battle has begun!

Turns and positions are as follows:
Al'tul (S8) (20/20)
Veteran Lizardfolk Mauler (U8) (61/106)
QUICKSAND! (R9, S9, T9, R10, S10, T10, S11, T11)

Al'tul's turn!

Al'tul's first test would be that of his spell component belt, where he would cast both entangle and quicksand on the lizardfolk mauler.

Al'tul summoned forth a whirling mass of vines, which crawled up against the Lizardfolk's legs, pinning him tightly to the ground. The entangle spell had fixed the lizardfolk in one place. Al'tul then started to cast Entangle. The Mauler however, was already attempting to escape before he could finish!

Strength check: DC 24. Roll: 13 (+13 Strength) = 26! Succes!

The lizardfolk raied it's mighty body, and with great strain uprooted the entire plant from the sandy soil of the arena. Tossing aside the vegetation, he made his way towards Al'tul!

Lizardfolk Mauler is now in S10!

Al'tul's turn!

Al'tul finishes casting Quicksand!

Al'tul grumbled, though the quicksand had finally taken hold of the mauler by now. Perhaps a second casting of entangle would be enough to finally catch the writhing lizard in place. The corrupted terran cast entangle again quickly, hoping it would overwhelm the creature again.

The vines shot up from the ground once again and wound themselves around the Lizardfolk Mauler.

The Mauler tried to get free of the entangle spell once more, but now, it was also hindered by the quicksand!

Strength check, DC 27. Roll: 14 (+13 Strength) = 27! Succes!

The Mauler let out a great and terrifying roar, which for Al'tul had to be all the more terrifying, as the Lizardfolk once again ripped his vines apart. It now turned towards Al'tul once more, with something that seemed to Al'tul like a truimphant smile on it's face, even though Al'tul wasn't at all sure Lizards could have facial expression.

Lizardfolk Mauler is now in T10!

Al'tul's turn!

Al'tul looked somberly at his victim, it was now over. It would be paralyzed now. To insure it knew it's place, the corrupted terran walked near to the edge of the quicksand, and dropped his Heavy Flail. Testing it on the soon quicksand consumed lizardfolk was enough to see how much it had changed. With a lunging of his arm, he sent the heavy head of the flail lashing across the veteran lizard mauler.

Critical hit! Al'tul swung his flail at the Lizardfolk Mauler, and it struck down hard in it's neck. Blood gushed over the sand as the Mauler took 40 points of damage!

The Mauler roared out, and for the first time thought it had underestimated its opponent, as it was unable to move any further. Ignoring the bleeding wound in it's neck, it tried to pull itself out of the quicksand!

Strength check, DC 30. Roll: 17 (+13 Strength) = 30! Succes!

The Mauler was able to pull himself up, with another great feat of its strength. It immediatly crawled forward once more, to get out of the quicksand that it now knew was lethal.

Lizardfolk Mauler is now in U10!

Al'tul's turn!

Al'tul widened his eyes, the creature was a bit more resiliant than he first thought. The terran ran to S8 around the quicksand, figuring that he could still get a decent strike on the lizard mauler with his heavy flail. With a quick second lashing, Al'tul realized that brute force was the only way to bring this creature down.

Al'tul swung his mighty flail, but the beast's hide was thick, and it's scales were strong. Although he did draw some blood, Al'tul had merely scratched the Mauler a bit, dealing 5 damage to it.

The Mauler had gotten to its feet, and now swung both his great clubs at Al'tul as he closed in on him. The left club was coming straight for his head, and the right club was following swiftly, chest-height.

Al'tul could only hope that he would be able to block each strike with one of his armguards and lifted his arms accordingly to deflect each strike.

Critical hit! The first blow came down, and smashed straight through Al'tuls defences. The godendag landed hard in the corrupted Terran's face, and Al'tul was sure he felt his jaw and cheekbones breaking. Recieving 20 damage on the first blow, Al'tul fell to the ground, and barely concious enough to realise what was going on, the second hit finished him off...

Battle has ended!

Lizardfolk Mauler wins!

When Al'tul opens his eyes, he feels his face has been healed, and Amelia is standing over him. The Mauler is nowhere to be seen.

"Are you alright?" Amelia asks. "Can you stand up now?"

"Perhaps I underestimated my talents." Al'tul said, blinking from his position of laying down. The corrupted terran was disappointed, thinking that he might always be chained to allies as a support caster. At least the battle was not completely useless, but the terran got up and shrugged off the answers before him, "I shall return another time, but for now I believe I will need to gather an ally." Al'tul then walked out of the arena to the Lemirian Colosseum.
