Peregrine
Username: [
Artsy]
Creature: Nightmare Prince
General Age: few centuries
Appearance: See image (his 'sword' is actually shaped much like a rapier and is made from one of his very own spines- It's usually left at home in his apartment). He has created a humanoid appearance so as to walk amongst the humans (a necessary adaptation). His true form is several stories tall, all black with the appearance of being smeared with soot. It is lanky but every inch has such defined muscle it looks to be made of nothing but it. Long, thin, shiny, sharp spines cover most of his body arching back like a porcupine, but fewer and much more deadly which stand on end when he is angered. His eyes are such a solid liquid black they appear to be made of crude oil, large and hollow in his skull, and just below them is a wide mouth full of long sharp teeth that interlace when his mouth is closed. He can stand upright but is usually hunched over as if preparing to charge, the knuckles of his fingers (which do not just have claws, the fingers themselves taper to hard points) nearly dragging the ground. His hind legs are similar to those of a panther, but furless. His body is hard like scales but smooth like hairless skin. Over all, he looks to be made of pure onyx and ashes. His roar could shake buildings and his gaze make dragons quiver with fear.
Personality: Peregrine is fairly easy going and kind, for such a lord of nightmares. He's fair, and mostly just. He can become irritated at times, causing spines to stick up even in his human appearance, but it usually doesn't last. He loves his people, he loves the creatures, and he used to love the humans before their mutiny. It's really the only reason he hates them. He just wants the world back in balance and his throne rightfully returned to him.
History: Peregrine's father ruled the world of nightmares and as his son, he was raised to take the throne. He was fully prepared to do so, only respectfully upon his father's choice to step down, or natural death, when the humans attacked and 'put them all in their places'. If they hadn't harvested those toxins from various creatures and given themselves the boosts, they wouldn't have been able to see the creatures, let alone defeat them.
It irks him every day that he lost his place and has been reduced to dealing these toxins to the very creatures that took that power from him. He, himself, is not power mad, it was simply his right and these.... beasts, had no idea how to stop the chaos they had caused. They didn't even care to try.
He tries to stay calm though, and works every day to figure out how to restore the natural order of things.
