Contest Moderators: [Chimes] & [Nioniel]

Ever wanted to create your own hat? Well, now's your chance! In this contest we want you to design and make your very own hat.

Please read the [#RULES] before entering!

Rules:

1. Hats must have been created and designed by YOU.
You may use patterns as a reference but the bulk of the design must be yours. You may modify a pre-existing hat but the moderators will decide whether each hat is modified enough to remain in the competition.

2. You may submit TWO (2) hats.

3. Maximum THREE (3) pictures per entry.
They must all be of the same hat.

4. No pictures of someone else's hat.
The picture must be of the hat YOU created. So if your friend created your hat, you can't submit it here. If you made a hat for your friend, then you can submit that.

5. Fan hats ARE allowed.
We will accept hats based on anything from Ceiling Cat to Cthulhu as well as hats based on entirely original ideas.

6. A drawing of a hat doesn't count.
Designing hats is cool, but this contest is about actually making them! If you want to submit a drawing, see the Design a Hat Art Competition. The design you enter there can be the same as the hat you've made for this section of the competition.

7. Entry must be uploaded to Elftown.
To upload your image full-size you can use the feature 'Upload a folder of images' that is shown on your house.
This feature allows you to upload one, multiple images or zip-files in their original size to a wikipage.
<URL:upload_zip.html>
Once you click this link you can follow the instructions. See also uploading images.

8. Vote-Mongering.
Asking people to vote for you is not allowed. You may ask people to vote in the poll in general, but not specifically for you.

9. Queries.
If you wish to discuss something about how the contest is run, or the rules, then please use the official contest forum: <forum:Elftown contests>! If you wish to bring up a query about whether a certain entry fits the theme, please speak up before the entries make it to the polls. You can still speak up even after the contest is closed, as long as the polls have not yet gone up yet. Complaints received after the aforementioned will not be considered valid. However, if you wish to query whether an entry is stolen art or breaks any other rules, you may still bring this up after the poll has been made.

2011-04-29 [Chimes]: Scrap that, other competitions say two. So you can enter two. :)

2011-04-29 [Akayume]: Exceeeeellent *has planned out two hats*

2011-04-29 [windowframe]: Aaaaadd it to the ruuuuuuules. Probably need to do it for the art contest part too.

2011-04-29 [Chimes]: I think it is on the art one. (My internet just recovered itself, lets hope it stays alive long enough for me to. :P)

2011-05-03 [Sagacious Turkey]: I'm assuming a tiny hat would be acceptable? As in, a small one, like a model, not intended for use as a real hat?

2011-05-03 [Chimes]: If it looks like a hat and was designed by you, I'd say it's allowed. :)

2011-05-03 [MisLuck]: Yeay! ^^

2011-05-06 [Mortified Penguin]: Awright, hats! I'm probably gonna need a guide...

2011-05-06 [Chimes]: A guide?

2011-05-06 [Mortified Penguin]: A hat making guide?

2011-05-06 [Chimes]: Ah, can't help you there. :P Google.

2011-05-29 [Ms. Steel]: Is this image suitable for the contest, or are single photographs the preference?
http://elftown.eu/stuff/xtyweUI.jpg (I would post my question the the contest forum, but they confuse and frighten me)

2011-05-29 [Chimes]: That would be suitable. :) The rules allow 3 pictures per hat. (We have no preference as to whether all three are on the same canvas or not)

2011-05-30 [Ms. Steel]: Awesomesauce! Thanks.

2011-05-30 [Chimes]: Welcome. :)

2011-08-09 [wicked fae mage]: Would a headband suffice as a hat?

2011-08-09 [Chimes]: If it's a fascinator, it would. Like a miniature hat on a hair band... but ... not just a hairband, I don't think. I'd have to see it.

2011-08-10 [wicked fae mage]: I was going to use a hairband as the base and build off of it.

2011-08-10 [Chimes]: Then I think it should be okay. So long as it looks hat-like. :)

2011-08-10 [wicked fae mage]: It will be sort of a fascinator. If it's ruled to not be a hat I can always remove the entry. :)

2011-08-10 [Chimes]: This is true. :) Enter away.
