Dragons have evolved many thosands of years and have changed in many ways from the dinosaurs and lizards they're related to. The reason there is so little fossil evidence of the dragon and its predesesors is because the bones biodgrade quickly. This happens because they are hollow so that the dragon has minimum bulk for flying.

<img13*0:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v397/Erestor/bullets/redc1.bmp> The dragon is almost definatly a relative of the six legged salamander (a small lizard with thick, almost fire retardent skin). This would acount for the six limbs. When some salamanders moved to desert regions their middle legs became large sails for heat loseing.

<img13*0:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v397/Erestor/bullets/redc1.bmp> As the climate cooled down the lizards went in search of warmer climates, then they found trees, climbed them, fell out but forgot to hit the ground, it all realy *took off* from there

<img13*0:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v397/Erestor/bullets/redc1.bmp> Early Salamanders spat poison from glands in the mouth rather than behind the eye. The particular breed that evolved into dragons had a peculiar habbit of chewing stones to clear piecs of meat from between its teeth. This isn't as strange as it seems- the dinosaus called sauropods such as brachiosaurs and diplodicuses are well known for swallowing stones to help digestion. The stone chewers sometimes chewed stones that caused sparks, this egnited their venom and caused them to master fire.

<img13*0:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v397/Erestor/bullets/redc1.bmp> As dragons became larger and larger keeping heat was no longerr the problem. Infact they had to get rid of it. They could use their wings as effective coolers and also loose heat while flying.
