Have you ever wondered what purpose duct tape has? Well besides teenagers using duct tape to tape people to walls or trees and the like; duct tape actually has a critical use in auto mechanics. As you know duct tape is a metalic gray color and difficult to remove, which is why it is so useful.

Engine Belts -- In cars you can run duct tape together to make engine belts that last for a couple hours. This time should be enough to carry you to the nearest auto repair shop to buy new belts.

Vital fluid lines -- All cars have the fluid lines nessessary for operation; whether it be for fuel, cooling, or mobility control. You can use duct tape to temporarily patch cracks or tears in these hoses and lines long enough to take you to an auto repair shop. This tactic may also save you money should you experience any abnormal fuel shortages.

Minor body work -- If you have an old car with a cracked or rusted body with sharp areas on it you can use duct tape to cover it. This prevent children from cutting themselves thus requiring shots. As always it is better to get the damage repaired as soon as possible.

Minor fix on a door -- You can tape a door shut as a temporary lock. This is something that would need fixing really fast as it would make the door unstable. You would not want the door to fly open while you are driving, specially with children in the vehicle.

Patching exhaust systems -- On a high performance vehicle, one can expect exhaust problems. What to do if your muffler and/or tailpipe is cracked or sliced? Patch it up with duct tape. This is something that would need frequent replacing so make sure to get these problems fixed quickly

First aid and duct tape -- While working on a car, sometimes you might cut yourself. Though a misfortunate event; you can use duct tape to keep the grease out.

Remember Duct tape is just a temporary fix so you should always take your vehicle to an auto repair shop to get it fixed
