Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum review

Vacuums seem to be tools that are impossible to keep in working condition in my home. It’s not as though I always purchase crap-tastic vacuums either, several have been decent quality, higher-end products that just seem to fail way before their time. Somehow, that time always seems to be when I need to vacuum most, say when company is coming over and the dogs just destroyed a plush toy, or when the cats decided to dig out the contents of the litter box. Yeesh. Anyway, at one point, it just seemed like such a waste of money to make big purchases when it came to vacuums. For a few years, all I was buying were cheap ones that only lasted about six months or so. I really don’t get it though, it’s not as though I’m vacuuming up rocks, or hamsters, or balls of yarn, or anything else that would cause a vacuum to just stop working altogether, but somehow, that always seems to be the case for me. 

However, all of those “little” vacuum purchases started adding up. It didn’t take long until I realized that I could have bought an incredible vacuum with the money that I spent in those years on the cheap vacuums. So, after my last crap-vac died, I made a commitment and purchased the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum. For the price I paid, it really was a commitment, and believe me; I was hoping that the vacuum would hold up its end of the bargain. 

Well, it has so far, and remarkably so. Not only has it yet to fail me, dying unexpectedly and without apparent cause, this vacuum is also pure awesomeness. Usually I HATE vacuuming the house. The majority of the vacuums that I have owned before kick tons of dust and animal hair up into the air, so before I’m even half-way through vacuuming, I’m usually having an asthma attack, trying to breathe through the clouds of allergens that I’m suddenly inhaling. Also, other vacuums I’ve owned have been such a PAIN to maneuver. The wheels stick, the vacuum weighs a ton; it’s a challenge to drag it up and down stairs, and etcetera. Not so with the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum though! 

The thing is like a space-age vacuum. I honestly couldn’t help myself when I went to the store and tried it out. Normally while shopping for vacuums, I just grab a box and lug it out of the store (paying for it first, of course!), but for as much as I spent on this one, you can bet your butt that I was going to be certain that it did everything but windows. The first clue that this thing is pure genius in the shape of a vacuum cleaner is that there are NO WHEELS. That’s right, nada. Instead, the vacuum sits atop a ball, which allows for 360 degree range of motion. It turns on a dime. Innovative, right? Similar to other vacuums, the extension wand is built into the handle. Push a button and the handle is no longer a handle, but rather, a useful attachment that extends to those hard-to-reach places where dust cunningly accumulates. The Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum has plenty of other attachments, most that everyone who has ever used a vacuum would immediately recognize, others that are new and that I’d never seen before purchasing it. 

Assembly for the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum is insanely simple. Blissfully simple, in fact. Pull everything out of the box. Remove all of the pieces and attachments from their cardboard holders. Snap them together. The end. Really, it’s THAT easy.

Now THIS is what I found to be incredible. Because I was expecting company (again!) when my last vacuum died, I had borrowed my boss’ vacuum to clean up the house a bit. Mind you, I did this about three hours before company came over, and was out looking for a new vacuum within an hour after company left. Maybe a day went by between when I had last vacuumed and when I vacuumed with the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum. Somehow, my seemingly spotless carpeting was not so spotless after all. The Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum managed to pick up TONS of dust, fur, dirt, etcetera that my boss’ vacuum had missed. I filled the canister up TWICE with all of the crap that was lodged in my carpeting, and I honestly thought it had been clean before I even plugged the new vacuum in!

Having mostly owned vacuums with bags before, it was pretty nifty to finally own a vacuum with a canister. The best part for me though, is that the canister is made of clear plastic, which enables consumers to witness the sheer grossness of viewing all of the crap that was in their carpeting swirl around in the canister. It’s so disgusting, it’s cool. Additionally, it’s not as messy as the vacuums that required bags were. The canister can easily be removed and dumped out, and it shouldn’t ever need to be replaced, which is a big money-saver compared to what the price of vacuum bags add up to in a year of usage. 

Personally, I love the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum. It’s easy to maneuver, lightweight, has nifty attachments, and really, really gets carpeting clean! Unlike other vacuums I’ve owned, the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum doesn’t send allergens back into the air, it traps them in the canister until they can be easily dumped out when the canister is full. The Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum picks up tons of animal fur that my other vacuums missed too, so my allergies and asthma have been getting a nice break from the pets in the house lately. This really is an incredible product with a unique design that really works. I definitely recommend the Dyson DC25 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum to those who can afford it!
