Name: Ellery Kavan
Age: 23
Gender: Male, I presume
Appearance: Blond with green eyes, ridiculous earlobes of more-than-average size and thickness. He likes to wear dark green and brown, rather camouflage like, because it goes well with his hair and eyes. He has a star-shaped scar on his left shoulder, entirely covered up by clothing most of the time, but, should he get in a fight and die, invaluable for identification if the ear thing was not useful. Likes to wear wooden clogs with floppy socks, because it’s fashionable in the city he comes from. Everyone else looks at his feet and snickers. He looks scornful, most of the time, but he’s really thinking.
Personality: Bold. Entirely too bold. He’s bossy, which he calls leadership, a flirt, which he calls charming, and touchy, which he describes as sensitive. He doesn’t like people making fun of his ears or his shoes *ducks object* He has a tendency towards violence, as indicated by the large sharp thing with hand grips he holds as if it were a security blanket. He’s also very private – if someone inquires into his past, he might yell at them very loudly, or he might just kick them with his wooden clogs, which hurts a lot and tends to shut people up.
Skills: As an assassin, he is very good with most weapons, and was top in his class of Balancing on Slippery Roof Tiles When It Is Raining. Also top in Silent Stalking and Window Entering. It’s obvious that the non-attack thing is more his style.
Weakness: He thinks it is ungentlemanly to kill people when they don’t see you, which makes him a very bad assassin. Plus, he has refused to use any weapon but his pointy thing ever since he found it in a blacksmith’s mistake heap. It was apparently meant to be a sickle, but the handle wouldn’t attach, the blade was too long, and handgrips somehow found their way into the mix. That’s what happens when inexperienced blacksmiths get creative… Anyway. He also is scared of small dogs. He tends to be very good in open combat, but very bad in duels. He usually uses poison, then sends a note before it works for his sense of fair play. An idiot, really, which is why the assassin’s guild removed him from the member roster.
History: Lived amongst the Southern continental people of his world for some years, during which time he got his enormous earlobes. They have giant holes in them, see, with disks that stretch them out. In that culture, the bigger the earlobes, the more important you are. He’s got a ways to go yet, not having quite reached his shoulders. Really important people have them all the way down to their elbows. He went there to further his education in all manner of assassinly things, especially poison, but ended up kicked out before he learned anything really. He’d gotten the ear job, though. Basically, it’s a long story why he got kicked out, but the common theory, girl problems, is correct if an understatement and an over-simplification. Simple things don’t happen to Ellery… He’s normally kicked out of anywhere he lives for more than a month or two. His family promised him to the assassin’s guild when he was ten, unable to stand him any longer, the assassin’s guild could only take him for six years, so they sent him to the poison master, who handled him for two years, then sent him to the desert, who kicked him out in six months and didn’t give him anywhere in particular to go next. Since then, he’s never been more than a month in one place. He’s gotten used to being run out of town on a rail.
Other: He likes strawberry jam and almond extract, not necessarily together.
