EOD THE WALL
The wall was caused by several of the high rises that use to flank central park. Though the park is one of the areas where the bombs did the least damage, it was still covered with rubble and the bent iron and steel carcasses of many buildings when the sprawl began to grow. Over two grueling years of hard work, clearing the rubble without any coordinated effort or direction, the residents had formed a massive wedge between the two sides of the sprawl. Now, the wall separates the MLA central enclave from the world. A single gatehouse has been excavated in the middle and no one enters or leaves the sprawl without the MLA knowing or using secret MLA codes that are changed every day. The wall itself has been reinforced with wire, still and wood and a walkway has been built on it where heavily armed MLA guards, both mutant and human, patrol 24/7.
X-Men EoD Time
Wednesday, August 13th
The Rook approached the wall, his eyes locked on the gatehouse. He needed something to eat, and that meant passing through the wall to get to the southern area. He gave a small nod at the mutants manning the gate and, using his codes, passed through to the
EoD South Sprawl.
Shana stepped towards the wall, approaching the guards at the gate without hesitation. Her hand went immediately into her back pocket to retrieve her codes before she reached the gates, and she flashed them to the people standing watch. Immediately, she was allowed passage, and Shana stepped through the Wall to
EoD South Sprawl.
Lucas approached the wall quickly, never breaking his pace. The guards moved to stop him before recognising him, then taking a step back. He wasn't a popular figure amongst most of the authorities around the Sprawl, a few fights later and they looked upon him with scowls. He dug his codes out from his sleeve and showed the guards, before walking through to the
EoD South Sprawl.
A little later, Lucas approached the wall, scowling at the guards as he flashed his codes and headed straight into the
EoD North Sprawl.
"Yo!"
Justin flashed the codes he had scribbled down the night before since they had changed. The guard gave him a slight nod as he proceed through to
EoD North Sprawl.
Daniela was fit, but she wasn't exactly the physical kind, so by the time she got to The Wall, running after Justin, the man had gone through and she was out of breath. "... Crap." she let out as she tried to get across the gate.
Before Daniela managed to get through the gatehouse, however, she was intercepted by a couple of the MLA militant guards posted there permanently, Needless to say, they already knew her, they'd seen her going by once or twice, but they couldn't be too trusting, a single X-man or covert agent going through without codes and it would be their balls hanging from Metamorph's mantelpiece. "Stop there!" called out the taller of the two men. Both carried semiautomatic rifles, both wore tattered gear not uncommon in freedom fighters, their faces covered by makeshift face masks and, a skull cap and a baseball hat serving to cover their heads, and sunglasses. This was done so adaptable power mutants couldn't copy their appearance and it made them harder to identify, since many MLA militants had families on the outside, which could even be mutants in hiding. "Codes?" asked the man gruffly, pointing his rifle at Daniela while the other one approached the girl, pushing the butt of his own gun against her stomach so she'd back up against the wall, but not trying to hurt her or anything of the sort.
"She is with me,"
The Rook said, walking up. He flexed his fingers and looked at the militant pointing his rifle at Dani. "Lower it or I will do it for you." Giving Dani a nod, he gestured for her to join him as he produced his own codes to get through.
Daniela lifted her hands up in the air and rolled her eyes as she was stopped by two of the MLA freedom fighters guarding the wall. She'd been through this several times before so she knew the drill. Last time she'd been subject to a very enthusiastic pat-down. In fact she was willing to be one of these pricks had been there last time. "C'mon guys, you know me." she said in an annoyed tone as she stepped back towards the door. She knew they weren't going to hurt her and she'd get through eventually, but she also knew these two were going to enjoy the security protocols and she wasn't. Soon enough, Rook walked by and vouched for her, to which she sighed in relief. "See? i'm with him." she simply said as she walked away.
The two men turned towards Rook as he walked through the wall Gate and immediately lifted their guns so they weren't pointing at anyone anymore. "Sorry Rook. Not like we don't know the girl, but you know, can't take risks." said the shorter of the men with a shrug as the taller one seemed to be cursing their luck, art at least Rook's timing. "Yeah, yeah, beat it. We'll see you on the way back." added the short man as Daniela left with a grin revealing a couple of crooked, yellowish teeth.
The Rook rolled his eyes at the guards and held out his arm for Dani to join him as he walked past and to
EoD North Sprawl. <"Perverts,"> he muttered in his native tongue before leaving the area.
Daniela simply flashed her middle finger at the men and followed after Rook into the
EoD North Sprawl.
Bag of food in hand,
Halo appeared a few minutes after Rook managed to get Shield past the guards, having worked her free hand into the snug back pocket of her pants by the time the Wall was in sight. She extracted the codes within several feet of the heavily-protec
ted access into the EoD North Sprawl, and passed through after being given the okay to do so.
Eyeing the guards as she approached, Shana briefly wondered if the men had given Daniela much trouble when she tried to pass through this time. The young woman gave the two a menacing glare as she flashed her codes, warning them silently that they had better not mess with her friend again, then allowed passage, she walked ahead to EoD North Sprawl.
Justin approached the wall for the second time that day. He fished his codes from his pocket before even saying a word as he neared to guard who stood watch.
Following Warp closely, The Rook stood by, wondering if he would have to deal with the same perverted guards as were around earlier. They annoyed him and he wanted nothing to do with them.
Justin passed through without waiting for a word form the guards, he could have just ported through if he wanted, making his way to EoD South Sprawl.
"I need in." Sasaiya said simply to the guards, wondering if there would be an incident this time. It was always iffy going through, one never knew if the guards would just do what they need to and let a girl through or if they'd make a some kind of fuss as a pretense to grope around for weapons. She'd spoiled someones fun last time by just changing into a thylacine so that there was nothing to grope.
By now the shift had changed and some people from the column had taken over, Sasaiya even recognized one, Matthew, a young man 10 years her junior she knew by sight and a cursory greeting now and then. Two of the guards began to approach her, "What business do you ha-" began so say one of them when Matthew interrupted, "I know her!" chirped the lad. "She's friends with Metamorph and them." he added. The other guards turned to Matthew and then back to Sasaiya. "Ok then, go on." added one with a shrug and a small nod towards the North Sprawl.
Sasaiya gave a nod of thanks to the young guard and passed through into the EoD north sprawl.
