A mountainous rocky and snowy area. Around -10 Degrees with harsh winds that chill to the bone.
Foot soldiers roamed the barren area, their grid patterns making it obvious they were searching for something. They moved amongst one another, but kept there distance from the two, more mysterious figures in the back of the group, seemingly just watching over them.
"Who are those two? They're kinda creepy...I hear they're top brass...but I've never seen 'em before." A fellow grunt asked, nudging his comrade, Phoenix in the side with his elbow.
"Yeah, they're supposed to be elites...stron
ger than even 1st class." Another chimed in as he passed by. "But who knows, no one's ever seen 'em fight, I bet we could take em..." He bragged, a deep chuckle coming from him before he continued on with his work.
Pheonix kept a sharp wit about himself."Its obvious their strong and even more obvious that the chick could kill us in a instant, but I'm not worried about them as so much as I am about what were looking for. I mean they send us out to bum no where to look for only they know what. I just have a bad feeling." he said while still looking around.
"Heh, no chick could beat me man!" He bellowed, his gloating stopped by another shouting off in the distance.
"I found something!" He called, brushing the snow off of what looked to be a set of steel doors. "It's the reactor entrance!"
Backing up a bit, he reached down, smashing the frozen lock with the butt of his rifle, before hoisting the door open. "It's ope-" He managed to get out before he was snatched into it's depths.
"Hey, where'd he go?" Another asked, squinting to try and identify the figure coming out of the entrance in his comrades place. "M-Makonoids!" He stuttered out, when a horde of them just flooded from the reactor.
"Time to prove ourselves kid. Those two probably won't lift a finger to fight...just leave it up to us grunts. But you'll see...if we do a good job, maybe we'll be promoted." Raising his weapon, He darted off with the rest of the group, shooting precisely trying to fight back the onslaught of monsters.
"Feel free to jump in at anytime..." Pheonix said while shooting at the Makonoids."Crap this isn't doing anything." he pulled out his RPG and fired it and blew one of the Makonoids into pieces."Ha these guys arn't so tough."
Quickly, the group was flanked by the persistent beasts, one by one being picked out, and utterly decimated.
"Should we help?" The girl asked, turning up to her partner with a blank expression. "If not, we'll have to explain why we're coming back alone..."
Damon sighed."And after all that boasting." he shook his head."Yeah lets finish these weaklings up." he said suddenly appearing infront of Pheonix blocking the makonoid like it was nothing with his bare hand."Tisk tisk someone has a temper."
With a giggle, the Makonoids around began just falling to bloody chunks to the ground, Jade fading into view like a mirage beside Damon. "I know, this group is utterly hopeless..." With out even so much as looking up, she held her hand out to the side, a faint green light resonating around her. "What's say I end this little game huh?" She asked, the winds picking up, blue strands whisping around with it as her hood was blown off. "Aeroga..." The winds turned vicious immediately after her words, swirling around them with such force, they cut into the very earth, and utterly obliterated everything around the three of them. "Hrm...that one may be a problem..."
The steel double doors flew from the opening, crashing just beside them as crumpled up scrap metal, a behemoth of a Makonoid tearing its way to the surface.
"Hey, you, show us what you can really do." Jade turned to Pheonix behind them, a childish smile plastered on her lips as she gestured towards the beast. "Go."
Pheonix smirked."Since were the only ones here I guess I can cut loose."he ran towards the beast with his sword at hand and jumped up and let out a battle cry as he slashed acrossed the beast chest."Shit..it didn't even leave a scratch. Guess I have to get serious."then a faint green glow was slightly coming out of his right hand."FIRE" he shot several fire balls making the beast flinch slightly just enough so he could heat his sword to where it was red hot then he threw it at the beast while running towards it smirking."Limit Break:BEAT RUSH."he threw a couple dozen blows."Fuck.."
In a flash, hands clamped down on Pheonix's shoulders like a vice, the nimble girl flipping over his head, her heel colliding with the behemoths fist, sending it crashing to the ground instead of letting it just pulverize her troop. "Pathetic..." she mumbled, drawing her blade, and driving it into the limb under her feet. "Limit break:Wind Scythe." A blade formed out of thin air, slicing clean through the beasts arm at the shoulder, severing the limb from its body. Pulling her sword free, and grabbing hold of Phoenix in the same fluid motion, she kicked off, gliding through the air effortlessly, with the grunt in her grasp. "Damon, finish it."
Damon was lighting a cigar at the time."No problem." his left arm transformed into a cannon."Limit Break:Mako Cannon." he fired off a huge blast engulfing the Makonoid and making a huge scar to the land from where he was and several hundred feet behind the beast and took a few puffs of his cigar."Well considering the circumstances I say the kid did pretty good for his 1st mission. So don't beat yourself up about it, Jade tends to be a tad harsh."
"He did manage to kill one I suppose...but he didn't do it with his own strength." Dropping Pheonix on his bum with a thud, Jade landed silently beside him, sheathing her sword when she did. "Well, let's continue, maybe he hasn't awoken in all the chaos...that way we don't have to fight him too..."
"LOOK OUT!"Pheonix knocked Jade out of the way of the giant Makonoid that apparently wasn't through with them yet as he smashed Pheonix into the ground.
"Damnit this thing doesn't know when to quit." Damon punched the Makonoid back with his left arm."I wonder if hes still alive?"he turned back and blocked quickly being knocked back slightly."I think we underestimated this thing." he said trying to get his feet planted and when he did he grabbed the thing and flung it into the mountain."Quick the rocks above him."
"He shouldn't have gotten so hasty." Jade turned her attention to the rock formation pointed out to her, and with a swift motion, a blast of air struck it, crumbling its foundation and sending the boulders toppling onto the Makonoid. "I'll tend to the kid, you finish the mission..." Reaching into her cloak, Jade pulled out a light green orb, the materia absorbing into her palm immediately. "The director lent it to me just incase something were to happen..." Kneeling down beside Pheonix, she held her hand over him, but stopped the flow of magic just beforehand. "No wounds..." Glancing up to to Damon slightly confused, she stood back up, backing away from him. "That should of killed someone like him..."
Damon raised his eyebrow."Whats wrong Jade? I thought you were going to heal the kid. I mean thats the least you can do when he tried to save ya."
"There isn't a scratch on him, His armor is nearly completely caved in, but there isn't a single mark on him from that blow." Reaching down, Jade grabbed hold of Pheonix's breast plate, lifting him up a bit, before dragging him behind. "Well, lets go." She muttered, walking towards the entrance, lifting the grunt up a bit more before descending the stairs.
Damon smirked."Sounds like we found us a grunt thats 1st material or maybe even better. Someone who might become a challenge...unless you just have a crush on him and were protecting him the whole time."he joked as they came to a room filled with mako tanks that the Makonoids had come from and behind the tanks up the stairs a sign said Genesis above a sealed door.
"Just because he lived through that doesn't mean anything, it was probably just a fluke. He's still utterly pathetic skill wise. But maybe if one of us trained him a bit...he could be worthy of a referral." Dropping him rather roughly at the base of the stairs, Jade continued onto the door, sighing softly. "Nothing can be easy, can it?" Putting a hand to the door, she jerked it away quickly. "Its mako infused...you won't be able to break it down so easily...do you have any trinkets that might help?"
"Heh alright alright calm down. Hmmmm."Damon looked over the door."It looks like its locked from the inside. So why don't we just knock?" he knocked on the door and as it opened up smoke came pouring out and a shadowy figure came bolting out.
Jade twisted around, her keen eyes following the blur easily. "Aero." She called, striking the figure with a 'weak' spell until she could catch a clearer view of it. Her free hand rested on her blade, her lithe figure poised perfectly to strike or defend depending on it's reaction.
A bright red glow sliced through the aero and Genesis appeared right infront of Jade."When the war of the beasts brings about the world’s end. The goddess descends from the sky. Wings of light and dark spread afar. She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting..."he closed his book and took a bite of a dumbapple."I take it shinra wants to use me for experiments again...If that isn't the case why are you here? Depending on your answer decides your fate."
Jade held a palm to his chest the moment he showed infront of her, her face emotionless as usual. "Our intentions are of no concern to you, all you need to know is you're coming with us." Mako energy resonated about her, a light blue glow to her eyes showing that brilliantly. "Damon." She spoke softly, her ghostly stare never leaving the ex 1st infront of her.
"Loveless right? Look were not here to start a fight and to be honest we don't know what the president wants. Hell we don't even know the guy's real name. He just said to bring back Genesis and he would understand when ya'll met. And oh she knows she could kill you thats why she said it so bluntly." Damon smiled.
"Correct. And I suppose I could go and see this mystery man." Genesis said walking outside thinking to himself. Hmmm very few people knew I was here and even less that are alive I wonder who he could be.
"You shouldn't talk so much Damon." Jade huffed, lowering her stance, and moving after Genesis towards the exit, roughly grabbing Pheonix on her way.
"Heh its my job to get him there not to get him killed. Besides we both know theres no one that can kill you."Damon said and while following them thinking. No one....yet.
"Unless you want to find out if that statement is true or not, I do suggest you quit picking on me." With a sweet smile, Jade turned her attention to the stairs once more, disappearing momentarily, and reappearing at the top of them like she had before during the fight.
Damon appeared outside with the others and got into the chopper that was near by."Welp time to head home." He started up the chopper while everyone was boarding.
"Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess. We seek it thus, and take it to the sky. Ripples form on the water’s surface. The wandering soul knows no rest." Genesis said to himself before getting on the helicopter.
Climbing into the chopper after Genesis, Jade laid the unconscious soldier she'd been lugging around in the floor of it, taking her seat beside. "Would you please stop spouting off that poem? It's growing quite annoying."
Genesis let out a slight laugh."I've been locked up for years with only this book to read. So I tend to mummer a poem off now and again."
"Its actually pretty good. I saw the play. To be honest I was drug there at 1st but in the end I was glad. You should see it some time Jade" said Damon
"I listened to him spout it off for years in my sleep...I know it by heart and I still don't like it." Jade replied curtly, turning her nose up at the both of them, and staring out the window. "Just get me home...I have another mission after we return. I'm supposed to hunt down a 1st deserter..."
Genesis looked slightly puzzled then shook it off."It must just be a grown up thing." Could she be...Hmmm things are getting interesting.
"Here we are good old Midgar." said Damon while he started to land.
"I'm probably older than you are Genesis." Jade pointed out, a grin on her face, making her way to the open door before the helicopter even had time to land, and jumping out, she was tired of there rambling...wanted to get away for a bit. Landing graceful as ever just outside the landing paddock, she strolled towards the door, disappearing into the building.
"Shes an unique woman I will give her that."said Genesis while getting out of the helicopter.
"Yeah she defiantly is, but anyways time to meet the big man." said Damon as he lead Genesis to the President's office. "Here we are, and oh he likes to be called Mr.President or Sir." Damon opened the doors. "Mr President. Heres Genesis as you requested."
"Thank you Damon, you may leave now. We have much to discuss my old friend."said the President.
Damon left them to talk and went back to the 1st lounge to write up his report on the mission.
