Ok, so what if you don't really want a human character? Well in these next steps we will make him a little less friendly as well as make him look really cool. ;)
Well it wouldnt be my tutorial if we didnt have some horns on this guy so the first this I did was add some big ole curvy ram like horns.
Add some big bushy eye brows, some pointy ears and an underbite showing some teeth, and we're almost there.
Add some blocks coming off his jowels to represent some chops and draw on a goatee. Rough out some hair.... ah yeh...looking good!
Next step is erasing some of those guidlines and stuff. Behind the horns and hairline, along the jaw, etc. Keep sketching till the character has all the personality you need them to possess.
Start darkening up your detials, maybe add some shading, etc.
So here's the finished pencil rendering with the original base circle and guidlines applied to it for reference.
Notice all the landmarks we talked about from the previous steps.
And that's about it. Go on to step 4 for the final finished version. ;)
