While I have many action figures from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and the “Harry Potter” series’, my husband came to the relationship with quite a few action figures of his own, including the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith.

Similar to the Dementors of the “Harry Potter”-verse, the Ringwraiths are large, ghostly beings that are cloaked heavily in billowing garments. In the “Fellowship of the Ring,” there is a scene where Frodo the Hobbit and his companions must fend off an attack made by several Ringwraiths, during which Strider sets one of the offending Ringwraiths on fire. The Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith is from that scene.

The design of the cloak on the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith is perfect. Black and flowing, the cloak has tons of creases and folds in the several layers of soft, rubbery material that give it incredible depth. In addition to the many creases in the cloak, there are also spots where the cloak is obviously worn and even has holes in it in some places. The cloak, however, is not removable, though it is on fire.

Just below the “neck” on the back of the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith figure is a small, black button that, when pressed down upon, causes the orange, red, and yellow flames that stand up from several points of this creature’s body to light up. Though it’s not very impressive when it does light up, the Ringwraith still looks pretty awesome with the colorful flames that stick out from its “head,” shoulder, arm and even its back.

The Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith figure comes with no real accessories, save the long sword and scabbard that hang from the left side of its cloak. The scabbard is permanently attached, while the sword, which is surprisingly rubbery and bendy, may be removed from said scabbard and placed in either of the Ringwraith’s hands.

As far as articulation goes, the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith is insanely pose-able. The twenty-one points of articulation on this figure include its toes, ankles, calves, knees, hips, waist, shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists, and fingers!

While it should be noted that only coming with a sword is pretty lame in the way of accessories for figures such as the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith, the sheer number of articulation points pretty much outweighs any negative aspects of this sculpt. Frighteningly accurate in every detail, the Toy Biz Lord of the Rings/Fellowship of the Ring Flaming Ringwraith is a near-perfect sculpt, and I do recommend it to collectors and fans!
