above Our teacher Dr.Blair checking if the cow is pregnant, and Melissa giving the cow it's de-wormer. It's just a liquid you spray along it's back and gets absorbed by the skin.

above More de-wormer, vitamin AD injections, and removing fly tags (yup, that's me in the green hat)

above *chuckles* Notice the tongue held between the teeth and the look of concentration. I'm such a dork. -- Moving cattle through the chute, and snack time

above Lumpy jaw (dont' really know what causes it just yet, but I was asked to take a picture of it) A picture that will be sent as a thankyou to the company that donated the dewormer, and a better angle on the vitamin AD injections. You have to be careful where you stick the needle. There's spinal column just below where she has it, and a major nerve bundle and tendon just above. Got to find the squishy spot between.

aboveOne of the cows was being an idiot and mounting the cow in front of her in the chute. She got herself hung up on the fence and it was quite a task to get her down, as a great deal of her weight was hanging on one leg and these cows weighed an average of 1400lbs, many heavier, some as heavy as 1800. And a cow being treated for pink-eye.

above Giving eye medication, and her eyepatch (pirate cow! I wish I'd gotten a picture of her after they marked her as being open because then it looked like she had a pink mohawk too!) She didn't like the eyepatch much so she rubbed it off on a tree.

aboveLooking down the chute from on the catwalk, a different angle on our setup, and Brad(aka Dr.Blair) You can see how covered in cow shit he is (all that dark stuff on the front of his pants) I'm really glad that we didn't do that job now, even though I still think it would have been neat to experience.

above Jennifer, cow queen of the grass! *chuckles* Jen really made the day for me. She's not actually in our year, but she missed one of the large animal labs so she had to make it up. She was my fellow cow chaser and she kept feeding me candy. *Grins* We did coordinated cow chasing. (1,2,3.. RAAAR *Running at the cows yelling and waving our sticks*) It was fantastic. And, sunset over cows. By the time we finished for the day we almost needed flashlights.
