Profile
Personality: Yalaa shares much in common with the rest of her kind; being kind and loyal hearted, believing in a system of honour, devoted to her religion, and fighting for those that need help. However, she can have quite an attitude when pushed, having experienced a history of verbal abuse thrown her way due to her size, and physical confrontations as a Protection Paladin. This mixture leads to a strong and quiet giant, who will initially reply only with a sharp look and ridged stance, but when her temper snaps, will back it up with rather bitter comments, or a mean right hander.
This does not mean she is a stick in the mud, enjoying any chance to unwind from heavy battle, especially if it involves drinking. However, she would rather find comfort within a circle of close friends than a large group, and avoids trying to draw too much attention to herself by getting blind drunk or getting involved in dancing and other such events.
Her connection to the Light of Creation plays an important role in her life, especially in her role as a Paladin, a holy warrior. This is only matched by her devotion to the Naaru, energy based beings that aided in saving her race. Yalaa shows particular devotion to the O’ros, the Naaru protector of the Exodar.
As a member of the Alliance, she holds a general dislike for the Horde races, but holds a particular hatred towards Orcs and Blood Elves due to their attacks on her people in the past. During her explorations of Azeroth and the Outlands, Yalaa has learnt through her interactions with neutral groups that not all Horde members are bloodthirsty savages, and that an entire kind cannot be judged by the actions of some. While she is able to tolerate the Horde during a neutral situation, she holds no love for them when confronting them on the battlefield.
Her ultimate goal, like other Draenei, it to one day become a member of the Army of Light, a force that one day fight against the Burning Legion, and redeem the sins of their ancestors.
Weaknesses: While she has some ranged attacks, Yalaa’s fighting style is primarily designed for melee. Her chosen armour can also become uncomfortable in certain situations, particularly in humid and hot environments.
Abilities: As a Protection Paladin, Yalaa’s abilities are designed to keep her alive and protected so she can hold the attention of enemies while the rest of her group does damage, or heals. Such talents include the ability to use magic to stun a target, stop them from using their own magic for a period of time, and to use holy power of the Light to judge them.
While skilled in the use of swords and axes, Yalaa prefers to battle with a mace, accompanied with a shield. She has the ability to throw her shield (and have it return) with great accuracy, able to bounce it off several targets.
Although not specialized in it, she is able to heal herself and others, and even bring certain persons back from the dead, as long as it is done shortly after death.
Professions: Mining, jewel crafting, cooking, fishing.
Languages: Draenei and Common (Human), limited Dwarven and Darnassian.
Others: Survivalism skills for outdoors. Able to ride ground and flying mounts. Experience in a leadership role within small groups.
Weapons: Morningstar of Heroic Will (heroic) mace, and Blackhorn’s Mighty Bulwark (heroic) shield. Also has small knife or two on her, used for cleaning fish/animals killed for meat while out in the field.
Prized Possessions: A small mechanical squirrel pet created by her engineering friend (Eshne), as well as a drawing of her old five-person team by her scribe/artist friend (Thalera).
Home(s): Stormwind, The Exodar
History
Growing up as the second generation of her family born on the shipwrecked Exodar, Yalaa’s choice to join the forces of the Paladins was not one approved of by her father, believing she should follow her mother’s footsteps as a priest, a more ‘delicate’ role. Wanting to prove him wrong and hoping to gain his approval, she took on the class of Protection Paladin. She believed that her size, something she had constantly been mocked for during her life (compared to the ‘typical’ Draenei woman), would aid in this role, giving her an advantage over smaller/skinnier female tanks.
Having explored and been involved in questing throughout the main lands of Azeroth and the Outlands, Yalaa primarily kept to herself. But during her exploration into Northland to help in the counter against the army of the Lich King, she found herself dragged into the lives of several other adventurers. These three women would help to create her permanent party members; the Gnome Warlock Eshne Darkspring, Night Elf Priest Thalera Moonmist, and her twin Verya Moonmist, a Mage.
They worked their way throughout Northrend, often teaming up with a fifth random adventurer to take on more dangerous areas. Quickly becoming disgusted with the lack of consistently good fighters, they went about trying to recruit a new more permanent member. This was unexpectedly filled during an incident at the Alliance tavern in Dalaran, resulting in recruit the lone male to their crew, Ettan the Patient, a Shaman Draenei. He turned out to be a great aid in battle, offering a second melee fighter to their primarily ranged attacks, and also at a personal level for Yalaa, the two becoming lovers.
After the fall of the Lich King and Azeroth returning to its normal delicate balance of the Alliance/Horde war, Yalaa found her party slowly beginning to disband, as each member were pulled towards different goals. With the twins deciding to return to the Night Elf capital of Darnassus, and Eshne feeling a duty to return and aid in the Gnomes attempt to retake Gnomeregan. Ettan and Yalaa parted ways on good terms, both wanting to carry on their own line of questing and adventuring.
The awakening of Deathwing and the damage done to Azeroth, Yalaa left the floating city of Dalaran to make her home in Stormwind, helping those she could to counter the attacking elementals and the Twilight cult. This eventually led her to play a part in the final attack on Deathwing, and was surprised to see herself reunited with her previous party during this. As thanks for her help in the defeat of Deathwing, Yalaa was gifted her armour and weapons.
With the destruction of the world prevented, Yalaa has fallen back into a relaxed position of a casual tank for hire, and choosing to also focus on her jewel crafting.
