Looks: Shoulder length brown hair, hazel eyes, 5'6”. Wears breeches and a tunic most of the time, to the annoyance of her parents and almost everyone else. Keeps hair down or clipped back. Has a confident stance.

Personality: Karen has a good sense of humor, and shows it often. Loving to joke around, laugh, and have fun, she has a tendency to play practical jokes on both friends and enemies, although she rarely pulls them on strangers. While anyone can see her bright, sunny side, Karen also has a deeper, darker hidden side that she doesn't show very often. When a thought touches this deeper part of her soul, Karen grows quiet for a moment and a close observer would notice that a shadow seems to pass over her face.

History: Karen was born and raised in a small town called Amberling near the Rakerlin River. Her parents are midgrade merchants, and she has three brothers, all older, and one younger sister. Her mother tried to teach her to flirt, with the idea of getting her a husband in mind, but it didn't take. Her father's lessons in bargaining did, and she is now extremely good at it. Since, as a member of a merchant family she had to learn to travel and fit in smoothly with other cultures, she has gone to a few of the larger cities and towns nearby. She has learned a little bit of weaponry in self-defense, and is fairly good with a sword and a good shot with throwing knives.
Karen recently found out that her good friend Taraena has disappeared without a trace, and is determined to go out and find her. Her parents are dead set against it.
