"What a game," Louise laughed, "I can't believe Thade!" The young girl looked up at her companion, "Thanks for offering to walk me home."
Kain smiled at Louise and nodded in agreement. "I know it was most funny." His voice rough and strong with a deep accent from his homeland. "So I was wondering... do you know where we are?" He went on stopping at a cross street in the dark.
"Yeah, I walk this all the time." Louise answered as she hit the cross-walk button, a moment later she paused and looked back up at him, "I keep forgetting though that you're not from here."
Kain shook his head. "This is where we meet. its across the street from our school... I got in a fight because of you. or you forgot that?" you probably did. it okay." Kain started to move across the street as the light changed to walk.
Louise blinked in surprise, "A...fight? I would have remembered a fight..." Her Irish accent grew just a little thicker with the uncertainty in her voice.
Kain smiled cleverly. "Oh... I never told you that part did I? umm... the boy and group that bully you... I confronted him when you ran home crying when they said something bad to hurt you... don't know what. So I decided to hurt him..." Kain looked away and keep walking. "I remember having to catch up to you and stop you. you were crying so hard, and I told you. 'Different is good. very good. makes us uneek.' remember now?" Kain said slowing down at the next stop and looking down at the ground.
Louise grew quiet and she gazed off down the street, "There have been rumors about me for years," she mumbled, clutching her notebook closer to her chest, "At first they were true, but now..." she shook her head, "Thank you, Kain."
Kain stopped and graves the young girls hand in both of his. He satires in to her eyes hopping this would not be to forward. "I care for you Lou." Kain was near tears speaking. "I want to be more than your friend..."
Louise froze, caught off guard by her friend's words, "I..." she brought her eyes up to meet his. She spent a long moment staring into those strange red eyes, perhaps he wasn't so unlike her, maybe he'd be able to understand. "I care for you." she whispered.
Kain smiled. "I never have... A ummmm.... Girl friend?" Kain slightly flushed at the idea. He was also hopping if she said no that he could play off what he said on his lack of proper English, and social understanding. That being a lie of corse. Kain knew better after three years. An so did Lou.
Lou's cheeks flushed, her uncertain expression slowly turned into a giddy smile. No one had ever asked her out before, and to hear that from her best friend, one of only a few who didn't cast glances in the halls for reasons they didn't know... "I've never had a boyfriend."
Kain smiled and his eyes almost light with a glow. "well... That means an adventure for both of us." he Realy had a girl friend now. A beautfule young woman. "should I walk you home? Or can we go to my house and talk more?" Kain smiled brightly.
There was just a little disappointment in Lou's eyes when she spoke, "I need to get home, Mum and Da are expecting me. But maybe you could come in and we can talk there?"
Kain smiled cleverly. "what's wrong lulu? Your already late an my house is on the way." Kain knew her dad did not like him.
"Don't call me that!" Louise laughed, "You know I hate it. Come on," she said, be ginning to walk again, "My parents will be worried if I don't get home soon."
Kain smiled and lacd his fingers in hers walking with her a large smile on his face. "you should know... Umm... I am not like other men..." Kain started trailing off and shook his head.
"I know you're not." Louise murmured happily, giving his hand a little squeeze.
Kain hesitated, and looked down stopping her and pulling her into a hug picking her up to his level. "I kind of... I want to kiss you..." Kain was excited heart racing.
Louise froze. Her cheeks flushed and her mouth opened as if she were about to say something. She couldn't get the words out, she glanced down, suddenly very shy.
Kain smiled and kissed her cheek and held her in his arms. "maybe a little later?"
Louise smiled silently and rested her head against his chest. She reveled in the warmth his body provided and the new feeling of butterflies in her stomach.
Kain smiled and let her down slowly. Smiling at her. "I am happy you are with me."
"I'm happy too." Lou murmured. After a moment, she pulled away regretfully, "We really should keep walking." she reminded him.
"So now what?" Kain asked with a slight scents of confusion after a long pause of walking hand in hand.
"Well...I..." Louise paused at the bottom of her parents' driveway, "You could come in and we can talk?" she offered.
Kain smiled thinking about coming in and talking. could he? was that right? "I... ummm... maybe we should just call it a night for now..." Kain places his hands on her hips and then moved one hand up to her cheek leaning in and placing his four head on hers. "we would not want to over do this right now would we?"
Louise's heart felt as though it had leapt into her throat as Kain leaned in close, "I...yeah...ma
ybe..." Why couldn't she get herself to just speak? She was so giddy she couldn't think.
Kain smiled as he pulled Louise in tightly pressing his lips to hers in a long loving kiss. He embraced her and did not want to stop only pulling away for a moment. "I love you Lou... I always have and always will... I need to tell you something..." Kain paused for a moment and kissed the girl again for longer.
Louise was unprepared for the first kiss, she stared at him in shock as he spoke. When he leaned in for the second kiss, she wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes. Everything else disappeared, her entire body felt warm. As he kissed her, her skin began to glow, just a little at first, but by the time he broke off the kiss it she looked like a glow stick.
Lain pulled away his eyes widening. "your... Your glowing!" Kain was amassed. All this time. He thought he was alone... Uneek... Now this beautfle young woman. It had to be a sign!
As Louise pulled away, she saw her arm resting on his shoulder, all aglow. The light vanished instantaneously. Her eyes grew wide and she looked up at his eyes, fearing what she would see there. The look on Kain's face spoke to her of shock and horror, she couldn't bear to see him look at her like that, like she was different. Tears in her eyes, she tore away from him and ran up the drive. Slamming the door and locking it behind her, she leaned against it and wept.
Kain stood there in shock... Then it hit him. She ran inside and shout the door. she was crying, and he never told her what he was... He needed to let her know, but it was to late now. so he wrote a note to her and left it on the door. He felt bad, and almost like he could have or should have done something different. He decided instead to go back to his small one bed room apartment a lone, and hope that she would talk to him in the morning.
