Eliza stumbled in at once, not even bothering with the hologram. She knew where the sedatives were. after a bit of searching she found them, and after a bit more searching she discovered the delivery system that could be used at a distance. It was, very basically, a pad of sedative laced needles which you dropped or threw onto the person, and it drugged them in a matter of seconds. "Right" she said, making sure she had everything before rushing out again.
It wasn't much longer after Eliza left with the tranqs, that
Rhydian returned with a walking lawn-chair, hauling a man wrapped up tightly in what appeared to be spider webbing.
"Alright, it's back here"
Eliza said, moving quickly through the infirmary to a panel. She slid it open, where it scanned her hand at the same time, and began to type in commands. "Eliza four seven two, emergency lock up" she said, tiny panels in one wall turning over, becoming a window into another room, which a door slid back to allow entrance to. It could also double as a sterile room.
Maribel followed as usual, wondering how these two planned on going about this. No doubt Rhydian would get angry again and try to force it out of Rex. That wasn't the way to go about this at all... as far as she was concerned at least.
Rhydian ushered the chair with Rex wrapped up on it into the cell and then released his control of the piece of furniture. At least this way, when the guy came to, he had a chair to sit on.
"Alright, lets get the basics done"
Eliza said, snapping on a pair of rubber gloves and going over to a panel by the side of the door, which slid shut silently. She slid the panel across, revealing it was a touch screen, and started to carefully input instructions. Soon a robotic arm slid down to the sleeping Rex, gently scratching his finger before retreating. "That's for DNA" Eliza explained, starting to input new commands.
Maribel stayed out of the way for now, letting Eliza do her magic. She was pleased they had managed to contain Rex. Things might progress from here.
Rhydian stood out of Eliza's way, but kept his eye on Rex. They had no guarantees that he was really under the influence of the tranq. Sure, he certainly seemed to, but they had all seen possums before.
"Alright... alright"
Eliza said gently, gazing at a machine that had been beeping for about five minutes. Finally a slip of paper slid from the slot, making her snatch it up on the spot and start reading it. Finally, Eliza swallowed and turned to gaze at the others "He's... my brother alright."
'How old do you think he is?'
Maribel signed. She had never met Eliza's parents, so she couldn't exactly make a judgement, but this guy looked significantly older then her.
"Old enough."
Rhydian said before he even had a second to think of the words.
'How old is your Dad?'
Maribel signed to Eliza. She assumed that Tom Burd was quite young when he impregnated this guy's mother.
"He would have been a teenager... if that's what you're wondering about... hell, I can probably find out the day..."
Eliza whispered gently, not able to take her eyes from that one piece of paper "My dad was... abducted... one day... When he was a kid."
'And you think that's it?'
Maribel asked, unsure about this situation. It was quite awkward.
"He was abducted by the female leader of the Morlocks, the mutants who live in the sewers. From what he's said... yes. That's what happened"
Eliza said softly, still staring at the paper. "He never really talked about that day..." she mumbled half to herself.
'Let's not jump to any conclusions.'
Maribel signed, hoping to ease Eliza's tension a little. 'How long will he be knocked out for?'
"An hour. Maybe more"
Eliza said, not enjoying the other conclusions that could be jumped to. It didn't mean that her dad HAD cheated on her mum if they didn't take the rape idea, after all, cloning was a rather popular way... But these were Morlocks. They didn't have great technology.
'Should we run tests or something? No use in just sitting here- we need to save the others!'
Maribel signed aggressively.
"Alright... I'm trying"
Eliza said as she went over to the wall "With Rex here, we don't have the same issue as Abyss... We just need... ah, there." She went over to a screen, which had pinged loudly. She brought up several things on the screen, which looked like sound files. "Alright, different sounds, different dimensions... These should activate his powers." Eliza licked her lips, then pressed a sound file; they couldn't hear it, but it was obvious from Rex's bucking and screaming, albeit silent screaming, that the noise was playing very loudly inside the chamber. He was awake now... nothing could sleep through that noise. "Doesn't seem to be working..." Eliza muttered quickly, starting to try each sound file in turn. The others should... with any luck... appear...
Maribel clasped her claws together as she watched Rex writhe and fight. She felt a bit bad for him at the moment, but it had to be done. She had empathy though, knowing what it was like to not completely know the extent of one's mutation and what you can be capable of.
Rhydian looked up and saw the guy writhing and screaming inside the chamber. He looked over at Eliza, "What are you doing to him?"
"Forcing his powers to activate"
Eliza said calmly, squinting as she gazed inside of the room "By relaying the same frequency to him that got rid of the others... It's rather painful though... like having all your power rammed back inside you. Hang on... there!" She pointed at empty space inside the room.
The others were emerging, not slowly, but as if they were being spat out; Junior first, as he was the first taken. He landed on the floor as if he'd been pushed over, then phinagin soon afterwards. The twins followed, Jayden toppling forwards out of thin air while Jaden looked as if he'd been bodily tossed out. Waya was spat out as well, tumbling over towards the pile of men. Even Jeremy came out, but he seemed to just crumple to the floor with no force. It would have been a moment of great happiness, had there not been a high pitched whine coming from all around and Rex screaming on the table.
"They're back!"
Eliza cried triumphantly, her hand slipping off the nob as she raised both of them in celebration. They all seemed to be in some kind of disarray, but they were back! And... oh no. "Quickly, get them out of there" she said frantically, running towards the door, trying to scan it open but failing the first time due to sweaty palms. Having them all in a room with Rex, defenseless, on a table, might not be a good idea.
The twins both grunted and rolled over, quickly trying to asses what just happened. After a moment, they saw Rex and then saw the chamber door with their comrades peering in. "We're back!" they shouted at once.
Phinagin cursed as he pulled himself up off the ground. He looked around and let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank God." Relieved but at the same time worried that this was another separate galaxy.
Rhydian made short work of the keys on the console and the door opened with a hiss.
Waya groped at the hoodie Jayden had given her and managed to keep her legs covered. Had recent events not occurred she may have been compelled to kill Rex. At the moment she wasn't really motivated to do anything but find a corner and stay out of the way.
Junior grimaced, opened his eyes and closed them again. Opening them again he was much more confident that this was real and not just some other "universe" created by Rex. "What's going on?" He asked.
"We got you out"
Eliza said, stepping inside of the room, pulling people to their feet carefully; she physically supported Waya, noticing she seemed too weak to stand. The sounds were still whistling however, the boy still jerking and letting out loud yells of pain.
"What's wrong with him?"
Waya asked leaning on Eliza. "What did you do to him?"
"I'm forcing his powers to happen. For Rex, I think his powers are very painful as it is"
Eliza told Waya as she began helping the girl out "He didn't even seem to register us when we approached him before."
"Well stop it."
Waya told her. "Before I stop it for him." The screaming pierced through her skull like knives and considering what he'd done to her and the rest of them it took a great deal of will power not to break him in half.
Maribel noticed the state of everyone's tired expressions and lack of clothing. She hurried back and grabbed sheets from the rows of hospital beds and jogged back, handing them to the boys and Waya.
Waya signed her thanks and took one of the sheets.
Junior took one of the gowns and draped it around his waist so he could get out of Jeremy's restricting jeans which had already split up the back.
Phinagin, who was still dressed, thanked Maribel for her offer of the blanket but declined. "Thank you Maribel, but I don't need one right now."
"Alright... alright, just sit here while I do it"
Eliza said, carefully moving over to a hospital bed and trying to get Waya to sit down on it. She had the sheet as well now, she might as well have a sleep.
The twins declined sheets as well. Both having their pants on, they were fine. "That guy's got some serious issues. What are we going to do with him?"
"Hand him over to shield?"
When everyone who wanted a blanket got one,
Maribel put the extras away. Returning, she signed, 'Where did you guys go?'
"That's what they expect us to do."
Waya told the twins, ignoring Maribelle because naturally she didn't want to talk about it. "You guys know anything more about what's wrong with him?" She asked Rhydian and Liz.
"He's an augmented adolescent morlock with daddy issues."
Rhydian declared with a shrug, "I think that just about covers it. If I had to guess, those augments certainly weren't done with medically or scientifically safe equipment. These are the Morlocks we're talking about."
"Apparently different galaxies."
Phinagin said to Maribel, "Something like a personal hell."
A personal hell? Interesting...
Maribel lifted her claws and managed to sign, 'Were you guys all separated? You were all only gone for about a half hour...if that.' (right evo?)
"What do you suggest we do with him?"
Waya asked Rhydian. It wasn't like her to ask someone's opinion once everything was over with. Tactical situations required everyone's input, but clean up was usually as easy as a series of delegated tasks. Instead of telling everyone what was going to happen to him, she decided to ask Rhydian.
"We'll I say we do as the boys suggested and kick him off to SHIELD."
Junior said slipping in his two cents even though Waya was asking Rhydian. "They'll know more about how to help him than we do. And if not they've the facilities to contain him so he can;t do this to anyone else."
"I don't know about them, but I was separated from the rest of them."
Phinagin told Maribel. He completely agreed with Junior, except in place of SHIELD they should kick him off a high ledge. He didn't express this belief though.
"Ummm... guys?"
Eliza said, the door had closed after everyone had gotten out, so they couldn't hear anything from Rex's room anymore, but this wasn't good. She pointed out towards the figure struggling and obviously still screaming "I switched the sound off... and he's still-"
The flash of light seemed to fill up the room in an instance, Rex arching his back and screaming out in almost agony before his body seemed to... implode. He tensed up, curling into a ball as tight as possible, even tighter still it seemed, before with a bright flash of light his own powers took him away from this place.
"What... what just happened?"
Eliza said weakly, watching the place where Rex had just been sitting. There was a burn mark on the seat.
Waya could care less really. Rex was gone. Good. She sincerely hoped he was dead or dying in one of his fucked up little universes. "Good riddance." She said softly. "Now we can get rid of the Sentinels." She slid off the edge of the bed and her legs caught beneath her. It was like walking on noodles but she managed to stay upright. "I trust you guys can take care of stuff from here." Again, it wasn't like her to let someone else handle things. Not that she didn't trust them to do what needed to be done, but well... she was a control freak and she knew that. It had been one of the things George had taught her. She slowly headed for the elevator, trying to hold her head up as if nothing had happened.
"We need to tell SHIELD what happened to him. Rex may just pop back in out of nowhere unexpectedly like we did."
the twins said.
"You know... despite what we went through... you can't help but feel a bit bad. It's so unfortunate when mutants are slave to their own powers."
Junior made a sort of scoffing sound and said. "I'll go call that Coulson guy. Tell him he can come get his tin cans and keep a look out for Rex." Junior departed for the control room leaving the others to discuss what in the world had happened around here.
"I'm... gonna stay here... try to figure this out"
Eliza said softly, typing away at the computer already, not looking at Waya because she was likely to smack her to the floor if she did. "You guys go ahead..." she muttered under her breath.
Jeremy was looking a little lost right now. He turned his head to Maribelle, saying weakly "So... how's your day been?" He just wanted a normal conversation. He wanted her to act as if that had never happened.
Rhydian had no idea what the heck just happened. Rex just up and vanished.
So much for helping him. he thought. He barely even had time to answer Waya's question before the guy vanished. He was still trying to wrap his head around what had happened to all of them in the first place.
Maribel looked at Jeremy with a concerned expression. Did he seriously just ask that? With an unsure expression, she simply signed, 'Eventful.'
"Well..."
Jeremy said with a weak shrug, half wincing at the girl "Keep yourself active and stuff... Don't suppose you can... give me a hand to my room can you? I really want to just... sleep right now."
"Here, I'll help too."
Phinagin said, offering his help as well to Jeremy and Maribel.
Maribel nodded. Of course she would help him. He didn't need to fuddle around with asking either. Standing next to him, she placed her mutated hand on his back gently, should he need help physically. She cocked her head toward the door, signaling they could go.
"right... well... lets just..."
jeremy practically slumped over when Maribel put her hands on him. He had had a long, tiring day, and now he was barely able to support himself. He was practically asleep.
"Come on Maribel, let's get him up to his room."
Phinagin said as he put his arm around Jeremy's back to help.
Maribel would have replied if she could. Instead she used her arms to hold up Jeremy and assist him into the elevator.
"So- Uhh... I guess we'll head outside and talk to those guys in the sentinels."
the twins shrugged, heading for the stairs.
"They're gone."
Junior said coming form the office with his pinky in his ear. He had changed into a pair of sweats he'd taken from the locker room. "And Fury was not happy let me tell you... Coulson was as robotic as ever but I could hear someone shouting in the background. I'm just guessing it was Fury. They wanted to talk to Waya but I said that wasn't happening."
"Dammit, I wanted some of those sentinel pieces..."
Eliza muttered to herself, glowering at the ceiling as if it had mortally offended her. She needed pieces dammit. Why weren't things braking when they SHOULD instead of when they SHOULDN'T?
"It's fine, Liz- maybe we can wait a week and give them a call...see if they have any scraps laying around."
Jaden offered.
Rhydian wanted to know just what happened in that cell. Not to mention what had happened to the others, but he knew for sure that they weren't about to simply talk about it. And he doubted that any of them would tell him anything...not anymore at least
Since
Junior had nothing better to do other than beat the hell out of the twins he turned to Rhydian. Despite the breach in their friendship since even before the trip to Asteroid-M he knew they still had to work together. "You wanna analyze the energy levels in that cell before there's nothing left to analyze?"
"I'd prefer to, yeah."
Rhydian told him with a nod. He gestured and a chair walked over to be beside Junior. "You look tired dude."
"I'll be fine for a while yet."
Junior told him, noting that this was the most kindness Rhydian had shown him in a while. "Long enough to help you gather you're samples any way." If Rhydian wanted to analyze the energy in that room then who better than an energy manipulator to help him do it?
Rhydian couldn't help but smile. He was glad at least someone was talking to him again. "How you want to handle this? Use the instruments or have you analyze it with your power?"
"We can do both."
Junior told him. "We'll get better results that way." And Junior removed his shirt and started towards the cell.
"I doubt they'd just... HAND over sentinel parts to me. I mean it's not like they just have spare sentinels laying around"
Eliza said with a rather grumpy look on her face. "Ugh..." she muttered, then looked over at Rhydian and Junior "Just... if you're doing that, don't toy with it too much. You just might rip your own little hole in time and space, and we wouldn't have any energy manipulators to get you back."
"It's worth a try."
the twins shrugged. "They probably wont hand over anything too expensive, but there's got to be scraps that we could salvage."
"Nothing useful, unfortunately"
Eliza sighed, running her fingers slowly through her hair and frowning at the instruments around her.
Rhydian nodded and punch a few commands into the keyboard, the door opened with a hiss. He figured he'd start with the spectral scans and work his way up to the others
Junior knew Eliza was over protective. Junior knew their was little risk of him being able to even remotely reuse the energy that had made Rex vanish in the same manner. His body would only convert it into what he could manipulate.
Jayden elbowed his brother and the two had a conversation with each other's gaze. "Well... we're going to go take a-
"Shower."/"Nap
." they spoke at the same time.
"Or ...something. See you guys at dinner later." the twins said, heading out of the labs, up to Waya's room.
"I'll be watching your back on the screens, Junior. So just don't go and blow up the camera and we'll be fine." Rhydian told him with a smirk as he started the spectral analysis.
"Let me just set up the thing." Junior didnt know what it was called but it was a shield that would keep the excess energy from leaking from the room and causing any mayhem in the hospital proper. It was mainly used as a radiation shield but for this it would work too. He hit the button and almost instantly a hermetic room popped up around him. Now Junior could go in without harming the rest of the hospital.
An eyewashing station. Every good medical facility had one, and that was where Eliza was steering Junior steadily, steps patient and slow. "Here, it's an eyewashing station" she said softly to him, letting Junior feel the side and cup the faucet "Do you need my help?" If he could handle this alone she could work on getting some anti-acid.
"I need this shit to stop burning..." Junior said calmly, groping for the taps. He found them and turned on the faucet. he began washing out his eyes and splashing water over his chest and arms. The water was gradually becoming warmer, a little too warm.
(the only one I've ever used, the water came out like lava.)
"Careful with the taps, they're sensitive" Eliza said, turning one slowly; he couldn't see what he was doing, so she was putting it to a comfortable heat. "Things a bit better now?" she asked, going to go search for a swab and some anti-acids.
"No..." Junior said trying his best to keep calm. He knew that panicking was never the best course of action, but for a dude who never got hurt (because his phasing response usualy prevented it) he was in a severe amount of pain. "It... ah... it feels like phosphorous... Liz... this isn't working..."
Eliza took a swab from his arm at once, pushing the swab into a vial and shaking it frantically. she frowned as it changed colour "It's mildly acidic Junior... enough to take a layer or two off your skin but not that bad... Hang on." She put the base down and went over to a machine, pushing the swab inside and making it work at top speed "We'll get an answer what this stuff is soon."
"Hurry..." Junior groaned. "Please..." He figured the difficulty he was having breathing was probably due o his anxiety, so he didn't mention it.
"tell me what happened up there alright?" Eliza said, staring to type away at another computer, searching for cross matches on the composition of the stuff on the swab. If it was what she thought it was, she would be able to get an antidote in a few seconds.
"We were... messing around..." Junior said, still trying to wash his eyes clear and get the burning sensation from his arms. "She threw a pillow at me... I pretended I was hurt... I grabbed her... she went spitting cobra on me... Liz, I'm trying not to panic... but I..." He was just about to tell her how difficult it was becoming to breath when he collapsed into the floor.
"It's poison" Eliza said, glad she had guessed right. The machine dinged emotionlessly and she scoopedup the hypodermic syringe from the pad. She moved over to Junior quickly, grabbed his arm and slid the tip in expertly. This should counter act the poison. Hopefully before any real damage was done.
There was no change in Junior's state, but he was making shallow rappid wheezing sounds.
"Come on, that should work" Eliza hissed, lifting Junior up with ease and shifting him onto the table. She unhooked the respirator nearby and hooked it up at once, helping Junior breathe by the machine. That dose should be enough to counteract the poison, she was sure.
It didn't, because Junior was completely unresponsive. Considering that he hardly ever got sick and had really never been hurt, what was happening was quite a shock to his system.
Eliza was setting up all the systems she could to monitor Junior's condition as the respirator continued helping him breathe. She wanted a full check, and they would help keep his heart beating as well, if it stopped while Eliza was out. She had to go get some of the venom from Maribel later. She needed to apply some ice packs to the burns while he was out, help reduce the swelling. While she was doing that she went to go fetch some antibiotics to apply as well, help the burns heal a bit faster. There was a small syringe of adrenaline placed by the side as well, just in case Junior's heart needed a bit of help.
Marible and Phinagin stepped out of the elevator with his arm around her shoulder. From the looks of it, she was still upset about what had happened and came down to see how he was doing...hoping it wasn't lethal.
Eliza whipped around when Maribel and Phinagin came down. She hurried around at once, moving from little piles of tools to machines to more tools. Finally she approached Maribel slowly with a plastic cup covered by some firmly stretched clingfilm. "Uhh... Maribel" she said, not getting too close "I kinda... need to... milk you. For venom."
When she said 'milk' Maribel's arms covered over her chest. Venom? Was THAT what hurt Junior? She looked down at the cup, not sure what to do. 'How is he?'
"Alive" Eliza said; she wasn't trying to worry the girl, but Maribel had really taken Junior down. "Please" she said, holding the cup up towards Maribel "I need to milk you, it will help me create an anti-dote."
'I don't know how I did it... I like.. sneezed. It was involuntary.' Maribel explained.
"I know. I know. Please" Eliza said, holding the cup up towards her again "I just need a few drops, not much, and it won't hurt. It might help people in the future, to get an anti-venom ready."
As Junior's breathing began to slowly regulate on it's own the respirator eased off gradually until Junior was eventually breathing for himself again.
Maribel rolled her tongue in her mouth for a moment, looking skeptically down at the cup. Finally, she opened up and two mandible sheaths protruded out of her mouth. They were on both sides of her jaw, between her teeth and cheeks. Then, out of the sheaths came the tips of what were her black fangs....though not fully extended.
Eliza shifted her grip slightly, revealing more of the top to Maribel; her hand was no where near the top, in case something bad happened. "Just bite down on here" she said, pushing the cup a bit closer towards Maribel.
Maribel took the cup from her since she seemed scared. Holding onto it now, she pushed her fangs in....but nothing dripped out. She had to admit, with Phin here.. this was a bit embarrassing.
Eliza bit her lip softly as she looked at Maribel and the cup. "Come on... just try and... ease the poison out" she said, trying not to sound too panicked by all of this.
Maribel tried, but again... nothing. Her face tensed, as if really pushing... but alas, the cup was dry. She pulled her fangs out and said, 'I don't know how.' with a frown.
A light bulb appeared above Phinagin's head. "Bite down again." he told Maribel.
Maribel looked down at the cup, defeated, but did what she was told anyway. Again, the fangs slipped out and bit down into the cup, still without any venom.
As she was putting her fangs back into the cup, Phinagin positioned his hands to the sides of her waist. He waited a second or two after she had bit down before he quickly grabbed her waist accompanied with a sudden "SPIT!"
Maribel's whole body jumped from the sudden grab and shout. With a SLOSH sound, a milky, clear substance hit the bottom of the cup. Thankfully the venom wasn't spilt as Maribel let out a shocked gasp. It seems that Phinagin had figured it out and knew how Maribel's body worked more than she did.
"Guess I can add venom milker to my resume now." Phinagin said with a smile, glad his plan worked.
Maribel looked down at the cup in awe at the sheer amount that she had expelled. She retracted her fangs into their palps and closed her mouth. She handed it off to Eliza, she cheeks a bright pink. Looking at Phinagin now, she made a fist before punching him in the shoulder. Although his plan had worked, Maribel still didn't appreciate being unexpectedly grabbed and freaked out.
Phinagin rubbed his shoulder where she punched him. "No good deed goes unpunished, huh?"
Eliza had been a moment away from doing it herself, but right now she was too busy taking the cup over to another machine. She only needed a small drop poured out, and she was very careful not to get any on her hands or breathe around it as she poured it into a beaker and slid it into the machine.
Maribel followed Eliza when she spotted Junior on the table with tubes in her mouth. She let out a shocked gasp and hesitated going forward. With a gulp, she took a few slow steps until she was right next to him. Of course, she started to get teary-eyed. This had all happened so fast! She didn't want Junior to die before of her!
Phinagin saw Maribel's reaction before he saw Junior. How powerful was her venom?! He put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
"He didn't ingest any, did he?" Eliza called out to Maribel, turning on the spot and seeing her standing next to Junior on the bed. He seemed to have consistent health now at least, even if he was in trouble.
Maribel shook her head, 'I think it just got on his skin.' she signed honestly, hoping that it was true.
"Well, he washed it all off" Eliza said with a small shrug "He should be alright. He just has to get it all out of his system..." Hopefully. She couldn't create such a powerful poison that people would die from touching it, could she?
Maribel wiped her eyes once more and held back her tears. They had only been having fun and messing around. For a moment, there was happyness at the school, if only for a second...before fate snuffed it out again.
"Don't feel bad about this Maribel" Eliza said with a sigh, gripping her arm gently and frowning in a concerned way "You had no idea what was going to happen Maribel. Accidents happen with new mutations."
"We were thinking about using the Danger room to try and help her get a grip on her powers." Phinagin said as her looked back at Junior on the table.
Maribel hated being the weak link. She was the only one that didn't know anything about her powers and she was the only one currently going through a transformation. It was alienating and stressful to say the least.
"That's probably... a good idea..." Said a small voice behind everyone. Junior sounded rather weak and his skin was inflamed, though being red already it was more the deep pits in his flesh that where more noticible.
Phinagin heard Junior's voice behind them and moved over to him. "How are you doing?" he asked.
Maribel ran to the table where Junior was rest and leaned over. She frantically signed, 'I'm sorry.' quickly, nearly a dozen times.
"It's ok..." Junior said gently placing his hand over Maribele's to stop her from apologizing. To Phinagin he replied. "Oh you know... acid venom to the face always does this to me..." He would be ok, for a few days he might be bed ridden, but if he was joking everything would be ok.
"Now Junior, you shouldn't be awake right now" Eliza said, a bit annoyed that he had taken off the breathing apparatus. She checked his heart beat monitor, frowning slightly. Usually Waya would have helped with something like this, or Junior himself. They were both rather busy right now it seems.
"Not like I had much power over it..." Junior told her. "Blame it on me being a clone." His physiology after all didn't exactly fall within the basic parameters of normal. "I... could use something for this pain though..."
"I'll see what I can do" Eliza sighed, moving away to go and find some pain killers. She didn't know where everything really was, this wasn't her job after all, but she knew how to work the machines and she'd been there, so this sort of just fell on her.
Maribel stayed by his side, worried for her friend. She held onto his hand tightly, wishing he would allow her to sign just how horrible she felt for doing this to him.
"It's ok..." Junior told Maribele softly. "Everyone has things go wrong... you're changing... you're not going to expect every little change that happens... Though, might I say, very cool mutation." He only wished it hadn't been him to take it to the face.
Maribel tried to smile, but she was far too worried about Junior. She held her mouth shut, not wanting to have any more accidents. Taking her hands away, she signed, 'We found out that it happens when something startles me.'
"I could have told you that." Junior said with a smile.
Maribel smiled a little, tears still glistening and on the verge of overflowing on her eyelids. Although Junior wasn't out of the water yet, she was glad he didn't harbor any hard feelings.
Eliza arrived with a small shot. It was a better painkiller this way. "Here" she said, gently pressing it against Junior's arm. With a quick hiss and a short sting he had some rather powerful painkillers inside him. "You might have quite the trip" she warned Junior with a small chuckle.
"Awesome." Junior told Eliza with a nod. "Thanks... but better not let me know what that stuff is called..."
Maribel was glad he was going to be relieved of his pain and took this moment to wipe her eyes of any escaped tears.
Phinagin patted Junior on his shoulder, careful not to accidentally hurt him, "Stay strong, this isn't anything you can't handle." he moved away from the table and from Maribel and nearer to Eliza. "If you haven't already done this, we need to analyze the toxicity of her venom and see exactly what its killing potential is. Also a bit of anti-venom, let her carry some around incase this happens again." he said in a hushed tone as to not upset Maribel.
"Yes, I've already done that" Eliza said with a small shrug, keeping her voice quiet as well. He could guess why he was whispering "Now isn't the time to discuss this though. Not with Junior so weak.
"Me?" Junior asked. "Nonsense... I'm strong as an ox... a small red ox... with a slightly longer tail... and no hooves... no relation to Babe the blue ox..." It seemed the pain reliever Eliza had given him was beginning to work.
Maribel smiled a bit more and patted his hand, glad that he was going to be ok. No doubt she would be in his debt for a while though.
"Ok, if you could let me know the results when you get them I would appreciate it." Phinagin said as he moved back over to Junior. "I think more like a mule then an ox." he said teasingly.
Junior suddenly grabbed Phinagin by the shirt and pulled him forward. "I have not yet begun to dance."
Maribel couldn't help it that time and let out a silent chuckle. It seemed Junior was in another place. Good. At least he didn't seem in pain anymore and Maribel was thankful for that.
Phinagin gasped a bit as Junior grabbed his shirt. Not because he was startled, but because this was a finely spun silk shirt that ran at about $250 a shirt. He gently pried Junior's fingers loose and delicately smoothed his shirt. "Well, I doubt you will be starting your dance anytime soon."
"Nonsense." Junior said. "Chipmunks have magnificent voices." His hand wasn't at all hard to pry away and it was very apparent that Junior was drifting off to the magical happy land of pain killers.
Maribel signed, 'Are you feeling better?' hoping he was stil of the right mind to read sign language.
"No offense Maribel..." Junior told her. "But I think you're a bit young yet... besides, I have two. I'd hate to freak you out on your first time..."
'What?' Maribel asked him, glancing over to Phinagin with an odd expression. Junior didn't seem to be understanding her either.
Phinagin was lost for a moment till he had a flash back of his first month here when the image was broadcast into everyone's mind. "Oh no no no." Phinagin said quickly, "I think it is time to let Junior rest and recover. Come on Maribel." he added as ue started ushering her away.
Maribel still didn't get it and glanced back at Junior as she was shuffled away by Phinagin. She lifted her hand and waved 'bye'. Later she would have to check on him when those meds wore off.
Junior waved lazily with a half drunk smile on his face. "Hey Liz... what did you call this stuff again?"
"Well, it's good to know that he is going to be ok." Phinagin said as he walked away from the medical table with Maribel.
'I'm glad he doesn't seem to be in pain anymore.' Maribel signed, "You didn't see the look on his face and how horribly he screamed when the...venom sunk in.'
"Classified, that's what I call it. Try not to traumatise Maribel any more, you hear?" Eliza chuckled softly, sighing and going over to the other girl's side "Oh he's a drama queen anyway. It's just because he doesn't usually get hit with stuff. He might be strong, but he's sensitive as all that."
"See, he was just over reacting." Phinagin said, going along with what Eliza was saying.
Maribel wasn't really convinced by Eliza and Phinagin's attempts, though she understood and appreciated them. They hadn't seen the look Junior had given her and it was burned in her memory now... sheer and utter horror. She really is a monster.
Eliza sighed softly and placed a gentle hand on Maribel's shoulder "You go get a cup of tea alright? Calm down a bit. I'll call you if something happens."
Maribel nodded with a forced, understanding smile. She looked at Phinagin, hoping he would accompany her there.
"That sounds good." Phinagin said with a gentle nod, "We can discuss setting up some Danger Room training sessions then." he added.
Maribel nodded and followed him out of the infirmary to The school kitchen
