LYNYRD ZEPPELIN FOR GUARD

1) You need a good general knowledge of Elftown. If you can't handle everything about forums, polls, wiki-pages and know the Elftown rules, then it's no use applying yet.
[b]The only thing i know i have ever done wrong was putting ASCII images in my profile, and putting badges that went against the rules. After those incidents i looked up the rules and tried to memorize them. Granted it has been awhile[/b/tard]

2) You need to be able to read and write English well.
obviously i can write and read in English because i can fill this form out.

3) Your goals with Elftown should agree with Elftown's. If you want to go berserk on everyone who looks ugly, then don't apply!
I do understand that Elftown wants to be a clean site, but just because i person sounds bad doesn't mean they actually are.

4) You should have proven yourself. As written above, you don't need any permission to do most stuff here on Elftown. Even if you only have created the big boobs dragons competition, are running the forum "Medieval fencing" that no one uses and have written a pretty bad report, it's better than someone who just says they can do all this, but never did.
I am the owner of many Wikis. Some successful and some i'm hoping will be

5) You should explain what you will do as a member of the crew and for how long. Note: We don't want newbies that get all excited by Elftown for a month and then will get tired of it. Therefore, people who have been for a long time are generally better.
As a guard i will do my best to make sure that everyone's pages are clean and up to Elftown's rules and standards. Hopefully i will be able to do this for at least 6 months. Although i will not be able to do anything every other weekend do to housing arrangements.

6) You should be able to get along with the sullen assholes in the crew (see Council for a list), and have a great patience with people...
I usually get along with people well, and if i am screaming on my end of the computer i will type a nice reply back to the person being an asshole.

7) You should think this is fun!
why wouldn't it be fun?

8) If you can come up with an eighth point, it shows that you have ideas. Good! Now, be one of the people who will carry out the ideas well, and you're all set to join.
My 8th point is to submit ideas to the crew that i think would benefit the site. These ideas will comply with the rules of Elftown.

2008-07-15 [sequeena_rae]: Hi Lynyrd, I have a couple of suggestions for you to help improve this app :)

1. More description! We like description a lot, list what wiki's you've made (successful or unsuccessful). Do you enter contests? Have you hosted a contest? Do you know your way round the forums? We want to know all this. We also want to know a bit about you, the Guards/Council are a close knit team and we all get on very well.

2. Grammar. I don't want to come across as a grammar nazi but capitalising your I's would be great!

3. Guard work can be very consuming. We understand that everyone has lives and we just volunteer in our spare time, but we need people who are committed. We don't want someone who will do loads and loads of work for a couple of months then fall off the face of the earth. Being a guard is a longtime committment and you need to understand that sometimes members aren't that nice to you - but you need to rise above it.

4. I do understand that Elftown wants to be a clean site, but just because i person sounds bad doesn't mean they actually are.

We're not ban!hammer happy so you've no need to worry about that :)

I've no doubt that other council members/guards will give their opinion but this is just to start you off. Thanks for applying!

2008-07-15 [sequeena_rae]: And on another note, you need to lead by example. Your house contains copied writings which aren't allowed here, so the first thing you can do is move them to a wiki page ;)

2008-07-15 [Lynyrd Zeppelin]: what is copied in my page? The abbreviations thing i got from a friend on AIM. And the pictures i made by myself using photoshop

2008-07-16 [sequeena_rae]: The 92% percent of teens quote :)

2008-07-17 [Lynyrd Zeppelin]: i added that after you put this:

"2008-07-15 [sequeena_rae]: And on another note, you need to lead by example. Your house contains copied writings which aren't allowed here, so the first thing you can do is move them to a wiki page ;)"

2008-07-17 [sequeena_rae]: Well it's what I saw when I went to your house, so either way you're still breaking the rules.

2008-07-17 [Lynyrd Zeppelin]: so I'll get rid of that, then tell me what is wrong.

2008-07-23 [windowframe]: You have some very recent ( as in, less than 10 days ago recent) UAR violations yourself, yet you want to be a guard?

2008-07-25 [Lynyrd Zeppelin]: unlike some people I did not memorize the UAR. Once those were deleted I think I sent you a message asking why and you quickly explained it to me. I have not uploaded anything I believe to be against the UAR since. I'm 99.9% sure I have not violated the rules since then and if so, it would be helpful for them to be pointed out.

2008-07-25 [sequeena_rae]: We don't expect you to recite the UAR off by heart but a basic understanding would be nice.

2008-07-25 [windowframe]: The problem is that "since then" is only 10 days or so. ;) And as a guard, you DO need to 'memorise' the UAR (know it well, at least). We want guards who have not had any recent UAR violations because we can be far more confident that they won't break them and that they actually know what the rules are.
