The Land of the Elves
Silver-blue shadows,
Ancient gold trees,
Emerald green meadows,
Wind in the leaves.
Myriad stars
In an ebony sky;
Listen, my friend,
To the nightingale's cry.
Runes in the woodwork
And life in the stone;
Harpers give moonlight
A dance of its own.
Hundreds of voices
Lifted in song;
Tranquility reigns
Amongst the throng.
Perpetual beauty
And elven grace.
Mingling together
In the melody's pace.
White marble buildings,
Catch the moon's sacred light
As the river's strong current
Roars in its might.
Amid silver-blue shadows,
And ancient gold trees,
Emerald green meadows,
With the wind in the leaves.
The Ghost Town
Ashes and brimstone,
Fire and earth,
Sighs in the windsong,
No wood in the hearth.
Skeleton buildings
Reaching up to the sky,
Silence is chilling,
Vultures will fly.
Stealth—creepi
ng shadows,
None but the mice
Left to live in the hollows…
A foul throw of the dice.
No one in the street—
The silence grows badly—
No ringing of feet
In the dark and cold alley.
No sound but the creaking of old wooden beams.
No sound but the cawing of a crow's endless screams.
The market is bare.
The hush is foreboding.
No one is there.
Feel hatred and loathing.
No one but the wind
To pass through the town;
No one at the inn
Throwing drinks down.
The Silence grows stronger…
It's left all alone.
None can bear it no longer…
Into darkness it's thrown.
Ashes and brimstone,
Fire and earth,
Sighs in the windsong,
No wood in the hearth.
Skeleton buildings,
Reaching up to the sky,
Silence is chilling,
Vultures will fly.
Tear-drop Diamonds
Crystal depths
In a tear-drop diamond.
Silver stars
In a tear-drop diamond.
Spinning,
Swirling,
Titling,
Whirling…
All emotions trapped
In a tear-drop diamond.
Countless waters tapped
To a tear-drop diamond.
Slipping,
Sliding,
Bleeding,
Crying…
Heart-wrenching pain
In a tear-drop diamond.
Times of change
In a tear-drop diamond.
Turning,
Crashing,
Yearning,
Lasting…
Agony sleeps
In a tear-drop diamond.
Tenacity keeps
In a tear-drop diamond.
Screaming,
Burning,
Changing,
Learning…
Love ever-lasting
In a tear-drop diamond.
Bruised and bashing,
Then, a tear-drop diamond.
Basking,
Stalling,
Lashing,
Falling…
From a dark brown eye
Falls a tear-drop diamond.
Sleek and sly
Is the tear-drop diamond.
Dripping,
Dropping,
Hurting,
Stopping…
Another falls—
A tear-drop diamond.
Sorrow calls
The tear-drop diamond.
Gripping,
Losing,
Slipping,
Choosing…
You give in
To the tear-drop diamond.
Letting win
The tear-drop diamond.
Fighting,
Shielding,
Trying,
Yielding…
Now you're crying
A sea of tear-drop diamonds.
Darkness That Holds Me
The darkness that holds me,
Wraps around me tight,
It can still control me,
Barring my wings from flight.
I try to flee its dungeons
But I just can’t get away
Into fire it plunges—
Night never turns to day.
The petals fall perpetually
Fall is always near
Turning the blackened lily
Into a diamond tear.
The light is just above me
Just above my reach--
The darkness still can snub me.
What lesson does this teach?
Tears fall into a river
Of tenacity and pain.
The lion kills his keeper
O’er and o’er again.
I try to venture nearer
To the lovely glow.
But I see as I get closer—
The rends and tears it shows.
So I fall back into shadow
Too fearful of the light.
And the darkness comes to hold me
Barring my wings from flight.
