Jedi master Dak'Tere sat in his seat waiting the arrival of the remaining council members.
Daesha walked in alone and sat on one of the empty chairs that was marked as hers. She nodded in respect to Master Dak'Tere.
Dak'Tere nodded as Daesha took her seat at the councel. He remembered times where the Jedi where numerous enough Padowan voices where not needed among the councel. "Where is your master Daesha?" The Ewok asked, his voice was augmented by an EMT device. The decide on his ear allowed him to speak and understand various tongues. Ewoks lack the ability to speak any but their own language.
Zatanna walked in after Daesha, new silver wrappings around her lethorns she had wrapped that morning. She noted Dak'Tere and gave a small bow of her head towards him before sitting in the seat next to her fellow apprentice.
Dak'Tere Nodded to Zatana as well. "Your master is late." He said
"So he is,"
Zatanna replied, almost surprised. "He was just finishing up reading an old log entry when I left him. He said he'd be here straight away. I'm sure he won't be long."
Jedi Master Tyr'll Ka'Dar walked ina nd bowed deeply to Dak'Tere. "A thousand apologies on my rude timing, Master Dak'Tere. I was finishing up a log entry from the elder times. When I received a message from Jedi Knight Tash Nolani. She sends her regrets that she is unable to attend this meeting. She's held up at Ithor. She is aboard one of the Rebellion Starcruisers and obviously cannot make it here in time, due to the circumstances.
"
"I expect the battle above Ithor goes badly." Dak'Tere said. "I sense it in the Force. Many of our people are dying."
"Indeed my friend." Tyr'll replies as he sits down, resting a hand against his forehead. "Tash's report was not one that I liked to hear. They have taken the flag ship and are showing no signs of retreat. It would appear that we have lost this battle, Dak'Tere. That was the best flagship we have had in ages, but it was nothing before the Emperor's Apprentice."
Zatanna toyed with her wrapped lethorn absently, thinking. "How can we salvage this? Is there still a center of control?"
Daesha listens closely and remains silent.
"There has been a new commander appointed to replace the one who was lost aboard the flag ship. Unfortunately, the ships we control with the most fire power have already been taken out. Retreat would be the wisest action at this point." Tyr'll suggested somberly. It was not in his nature to retreat
Zatanna sat forward in her chair, about to protest the very idea of retreat, but hearing it from her master was a different matter entirely. She bit back her protests and asked, "What if they pursue?"
Daesha agreed with Zatanna's question and added to it, "Can we not send more people to aid them?"
"If we were to send more aid, it would weaken our already stressed defenses...they will not pursue. I do not believe that they will. It is Ithor that they want, perhaps for now it is best to allow them to keep it." Tyr'll suggested bitterly. He could not stand this massive waste of life that the Emperor continued to express. He clentched his fist tightly and tried to remain calm
"But we may never get the chance to capture Ithor again. It might be possible to still capture the planet. It's very valuable to the Empire, no?" Zatanna argued.
"Ithor is valuable to all of the universe." Tyr'll replied, looking at his apprentices. "Have you not studied your history as I have stressed that both of you do? Emperor Josmar obviously has, or I highly doubt he would want anything to do with Ithor."
Daesha spoke out, "Of course Master, which is why neither of us want to give up this battle so easily."
"It may be to our advantage to go all in on this and take Ithor while we have the chance," Zatanna agreed. "We have yet to have firm footing against the Empire and if we take Ithor we can have that advantage."
"But at what cost? Should we risk what we have now, for a small footing? It would be foolish to risk everything just for Ithor." Tyr'll deduced, looking sternly at his apprentices. They raised good points, but that didn't mean he approved
Daesha bowed, "My apologies, master."
Zatanna glanced over at Daesha, then back at her master. Small footing is better than no footing at all, she thought, but followed Daesha's example--she usually knew when to stop. She sat back in her chair, speaking no more.
Tyr'll knew he must be coming off as arrogant right now, but what Zabrak wasn't? He sat back in his chair and sighed quietly
Dak'Gere sat quietly listening to each of them and taking their views in account. "Retreat." He said wisely "If we loose more it will devastate our forces." He sighed, contemplating the grooves in the marble floor. "When Josmar renewed Ithor it created a bond between he and the planet. It drained him, nearly killed him. If it takes all of his forces and the lives of every being in this galaxy he will protect Ithor. I will send order to retreat, personally." The old ewok closed his eyes, letting the Force carry the message to Tash Nolani.
Daesha sighed a bit and sat back up straight in her seat. This wasn't going well on the Jedi's side.
A frown creased Zatanna's forehead. She waited until Dak'Gere was no longer occupied with sending the message, then asked, "What now, then?"
"Stradegty." Dak'tere said "We where not prepaired for an attack such as this. We must know more about the Empire's internal workings. We must find their weak spot. There is a chink in every suit of armor."
Tyr'll looked to Dak'tere for answers, just like the rest of them. The armor analogy caught his attention. "Josmar wears armor. Perhaps the answer lies there somehow."
Daesha clasped her hands in her lap as she listened closely.
"What is so special about his armor?" Zatanna asked, irritated. They were discussing intergalactic war, and Tyr'll was wasting his time on what their greatest enemy's fashion sense was like?
"It housed the spirit of an ancient Sith Lord. He has since removed the spirit, but what if some of the power fromt hat Sith is still within it?" Tyr'll counted. He sensed her feelings on this subject, but he was the one who had the most experience with Josmar
"I fear that Josmar's cunning comes from his mind and not his armor." Dak'Tere said knowingly.
"There is more to him than just his mind...Our Master ignored him throughout out training, giving me his fullest attention. That's the danger of taking on more than one Apprentice." Tyr'll explained, looking at his own apprentices as he spoke. "I got the benefit of his training, while Josmar....Josmar got a fuel for his rage. I hope I am doing a better job with the two of you than my Master did with the two of us."
Daesha spoke up, "You are a magnificent teacher and we are both very honored that you chose us to be your apprentices." She recalled the time when he first approached her and how intimidating he was at the time. Daesha was in a very vulnerable position at the time.
Zatanna nodded her agreement. "We are both honored and grateful to be learning under you. But still the issue remains, what is to be done?" She asked, steering the conversation back on course. "Do we have informants inside the Empire? Perhaps they would be able to help."
"The informants we do have are just that. To contact them, rather than the other way around would place great risk upon them." Tyr'll noted, seeking Dak'Tere's wisdom on the subject, turning to face him, instead of his Apprentices. "What do you believe, Master Dak'Tere?"
"If our informants where in a position to contact us they would have." Dak'tere said "I do not believe any have died but ether they have no useful information or they cannot reach us."
"Then we can do nothing from this room!" Zatanna burst out, frustrated. "If we are so deprived of manpower then we are wasting time sitting around speculating. We should be out on the battlefield, where it counts!" She rose from her chair.
Daesha watched her shout. She simply closed her eyes and sighed. She understood where Zatanna was coming from.
Zatanna looked around at her fellow Jedi. "This is ridiculous," she finally said, and stormed out of the room.
"Your passion is admirable Zatana. Dak'Tere said in a calming tone "Freedom is not something won over night. Josmar has been on teh thrown for only a year. While his forces are great it is fear that rules his people."
"Civilizations have been overthrown overnight, why would this be different?" Zatanna demanded.
"No matter how dark the horizion teh sun will always rise in the morning." dak'Tere said wisely
"Master, if you would excuse me. I sense something and must contact Tash to ensure that she is alright in her retreat." Tyr'll said as he stood from the table.
"Not necessarily..." Daesha whispered to herself so that no one else could hear. Her planet had no orbit or ellipse. The sun never rose and it never set. Daesha thought it wise not to say anything.
Dak'Tere noded to Tyr'll meaning he was excused.
Tyr'll bowed to Dak'Tere and walked from the room, pulling the Jedi Communicator out of his robes. "Tash? Do you hear me?"
Zatanna shot Dak'tere a dark look. Now he was just being cryptic for the sake of being cryptic. She left the council chambers and walked until she found a balcony ledge to sit on. From this vantage point she regarded the city around her.
Daesha watched as they left, "Is the meeting adjourned?"
"For now." Dak'Tere said sadly. He had hoped that teh council could develop ome sort of plan at this meeting but tempers where running high at the idea of their retreat.
Daesha stood up from her seat and bowed to the head master. She then looked to her personal master, Tyr'll, "Did you want to keep me for anything?"
"I'd like to speak to both you and Zatanna." Tyr'll told her and looked at his communicator. "I'll come and get the both of you in a few moments. I need to finish talking to Tash first. Alright?" A few minutes later he turned off his communicator and looked at Daesha. "Let's go and get Zatanna. There are things that we must talk about."
Daesha nodded, "Yes sir." she said as she followed his lead.
Tyr'll lead Daesha to the balcony that Zatanna was sitting at. "Zatanna. We need to talk." His voice hinted at concern, but it was not directed nor was it caused by her.
Glancing up as they approached, Zatanna slipped off the balcony and stood in front of them. "Alright," she replied, staring at her master evenly.
"Do you feel that disturbance?" Tyr'll asked them both, looking between them. His skin felt like there was a million bugs crawling over it. Whatever was causing this disturbance, it was powerful, beyond imagination.
"What is it, master?" Daesha asked.
"I cannot tell. Something is wrong though. Can you not feel it?" Tyr'll asked her curiously.
Zatanna concentrated. "It's like...a rumble, just out of earshot." She snarled a little, disliking the feeling immensely. "What IS it?"
Daesha nodded, "Unfortunately I do feel it."
"I do not know what it is...we must confer with Master Dak'tere." Tyr'll declared worriedly. "Follow me." He instructed and started back to the council chamber, which they just left.
"And with any luck we'll come to a better conclusion than 'we can't do anything yet'," Zatanna muttered, following after her master.
"Whatever is causing this disturbance, we'll have to send someone to investigate. I will put forth for him to send us. Whatever this is, I would like tos ee first hand what it is." Tyr'll told them
Daesha remained silent as she followed.
At the Stardock
Tash was impressed...but not by much. With incompetent morons not understanding what she ment, there was a slight problem. But they got here. She looked to the captain and nodded ".....standard docking procedures... and this time make sure the others understand that we are landing not cutting life support!" She turned and started to make her way to the room she was assigned.
Tyr'll froze just outside the Council room doors. "Excellent. Tash has just arrived. Time is drawing short..."
"Who is Tash?" Daesha asked.
"The jedi knight, I believe," Zatanna answered, fiddling with the lightsabre at her side.
Daesha turned her head so that she could hear more through the closed door, "Oh.."
"We must speak with Dak'Tere quickly. If we have a hope to confront this disturbance before Josmar does, we must get there first." Tyr'll said and shoved the doors open wide and walked through it, leading his apprentices.
Before Tyr'll could speak with Dak'Tere the ewok ordered the younger Jedi. "I know." He said wisely, looking threw the window at the city below "Take your apprentices and investigate the disturbance. I fear that Josmar and his shadow hand may arrive before you do. Take the fastest ships in the fleet and stay hidden. Given the chance he will destroy all of you."
Daesha turned and looked at Zatanna. Before Dak'tere or Tyr'll could see, she gave a grin to her fellow apprentice. She did this because she knew that Zatanna was eager for battle and she was finally getting what she wanted, in truth...she too was eager.
Daesha's grin spurred Zatanna to return a mischeivious smirk, winking. Finally, they were going to do something worthy of a jedi!
"What of Tash, Master Dak'Tere?" Tyr'll asked. He believed that she should accompany them. "In this situation it would be wise to bring her."
"She has first hand knowledge of Josmar's military tactics. Dak'Tere said "It would indeed be wise to take her."
"She is still in the docking bay. Good. We can collect along the way." Tyr'll said, bowing to Dak'Tere before turning and ushering his apprentices out.
Tash sighed as she headed out of the ship. "Time to face the Master...again" she said softly to herself. Each step she took almost seemed to her as if she was taking her last one. She reached the city streets and quickened her pace, keeping her sights set on her destination.
Tyr'll lead his apprentices out of the temple and through the crowded streets of Corusant. He feared they would arrive far too late but that was not nearly as concerning as what it was they would find there, or what Josmar would find. What was causing this disturbance??? Never before had he felt something like this. This disturbance just completely set his skin on fire, it was unreal
Tash felt cold all of a sudden, even though the temperature outside was normal for this time of day,and starving! Rations were fine and all, but after a while they get old. She turned the corner sharply on her way to the temple, unknowingly running into someone. She stumbled back a bit, growling dusting herself off "Watch it!" She spat harshly.
Daesha placed her hands to her side as she walked next to Tyr'll. Her pace picked up to a steady, quick walk as she tried to hurry.
Tyr'll turned to face the person who had so rudely bumped into him. "Watch yoursel...Tash! Excellent." He bowed to her respectfully. "Come along. We must be off. I know you just got here, but it is most urgent that we depart for the outer rim immediately."
Tash looked at him "..........No..." she said bluntly. She brushed past him, pushing past his apprentices still walking towards the temple.
Zatanna blinked, caught off guard by Tash's blunt refusal. She moved aside easily as Tash passed by, still struck dumb by it, and waited for Tyr'll's response.
Tyr'll turned on Tash and grabbed a hold of her with the Force, halting her retreat. "That was not a request."
Tash stopped and faced him. "I dont care...I am in NO mood in going back out there! I dont feel like dealing with the incompetance of the crew, nor looking forward to running agian from battle!" She spat out harshly almost hissing with anger.
"I will not tell you again to control your anger and calm down Tash." Tyr'll told her, hinting at their previous conversation. She was indeed lucky it was him and not Master Dak'Tere who called her. "There won't be a crew. We are to take our own ships. And if all goes as planned no need to run from a battle either. We are to go and observe. Find out what is causing this disturbance."
Tash calmed down as she looked at him "Tyr'll im tired....I dont feel like going on another mission...your more than qualified to do this without me."
"Don't start that again, Tash. You're coming. You can eat and rest on the trip. It'll take us some time to reach the Outer Rim." Tyr'll instructed. "You have more experience with Josmar's field tactics. I have more experience with Josmar in general. We both must be there for this. We are both needed."
".....why do I bother even arguing with you" Tash grinned a bit walking over next to Tyr'll "and another thing, Im not a part-time babysitter..." referring to his apprentices. She smirked and laughed a bit. "....Lead the way"
Zatanna relaxed, adopting an annoyed stance. "We don't need babysitting, thanks."
Something in Daesha clicked and she approached Tash from behind. She jerked her arm forwards and pushed her on the shoulder firmly, "That's NOT appreciated."
Tash stumbled forward and turned around sharply to Daesha, then bust out laughing. "Jeez kid...learn to take a joke. Didnt mean anything by it..."
Daesha didn't say anything in return. She simply glared at Tash and walked forwards and past.
Zatanna grinned a little at Daesha, releived at getting her away from that stuffy little council room. Now she was normal again, instead of being a stuffy old codger like that ewok was.
Tyr'll sighed at the attitudes of the three young women. Sometimes he wondered, if we weren't so desperate, would we really tolerate their attitudes? He shook his head slightly. I suppose we would. Every Jedi is different. Master Plo'Koon was a hot head like Tash, but he was also timid like she can be, always thinking someone else is better suited for the job. He thought to himself, recalling different bits and pieces of the bios he had read of the different Jedi Masters over the years
Tash turned and started walking back to the temple. "I'll catch up.....I need to change"
"Tash, you can change on the ship. There is no time to do it now." Tyr'll said, looking at her sternly
Tash hissed a bit as she turned "Fine...."
"You can change on the ship, Tash. There's plenty of robes to change into." Tyr'll said with a grin
Daesha snickered a bit from her master's remark.
For some reason that didnt sit well with Tash. She grinned as she thought to herslef Who said anything about robes...
Tyr'll grinned and rushed them along to the docks. They had alot of space to cover and very little time. He felt as if they were already too late. If he were to take the time to reach out with the Force right now, he would know it to be true. Josmar had already gotten there...
"Is this it?" Zatanna asked, pointing to a large shuttle cruiser on the docking pad to their left.
Tyr'll nodded.
"Alright, then! Let's get off this rock!" Zatanna exclaimed, running up to it. She ran up the frontwalk and found a seat inside, picking the pilot's seat.
Daesha went in as well. She stopped when she saw Zatanna, "You know where we are headed?"
Tyr'll lead Tash aboard and looked at his apprentices. "Zatanna is the better flyer, so she'll be doing the flying. I'll take co-pilot so we don't get lost. Tash take the weapons station, Daesha you can monitor our systems can't you? If we need to go into battle I'd rather not lose this ship."
Zatanna rolled her eyes at Daesha when she asked, then shot her a smug look, like a sister would. She powered up the ship, getting it ready for liftoff.
Daesha rolled her eyes and smiled back at Zatanna. She went to one of the seat by some monitors, "Can do."
Tyr'll showed Tash her station. "After you change you'll be taking up this post. Remember, Tash, we're here to observe. I'd really rather not shoot unless we have to." With that he turned and took his seat beside Zatanna. "Now take us out nice and slow, Z."
Zatanna nodded and eased up the throttle, lifting off. Shortly after they were in space. "Alright, what coordinates am I aiming at?"
"The Outer Rim. I'm inputing the coordinates now." Tyr'll said, punching them into the computer quickly. They were for the bit of space just passed Ithor, along the outer rim. He did not like how close it was to the rejuvinated planet. There was no doubt in his mind that Josmar had beat them there.
"Alright then. Tracking hyperspace path, compiling," she muttered to herself, "there we are. Hyperdrive in three, two, one," she slid up the throttles and shortly they were in hyperspace.
Deasha kept her eyes on the screens and lights in front of her. This was only takeoff, so she wasn't paying too close of attention.
Tash scoffed a bit and turned walking back and into a different room. She went over and drew back a door. She smirked as she looked at the robes hanging perfectly in line "....is there anything on board that isnt Robes?!" she hissed softly to herself. She reached in and took a few down "well...we have to fix this..." she said with a smirk.
Tyr'll opened the ship's comm-link, "Everything ok back there Tash?"
Tash looked up a bit then looked down. "Yeah fine..."
"Alright, you've got a little while longer until we've reached the Outer Rim." Tyr'll informed her
"Thanks..." Tash held up the new outfit, examining it and smiled "...finally...done..." She stood changing out of her old clothes and into her new outfit. She straightend it out and nodded, turning and walking out. She stood on the deck in the dress she finished. It layed on the shoulders tightly forming to the contours of her body extending down straight down stopping just above her ankles, a slit on her right side stopping up to her thigh. She stood there for a minute then took her seat at the weapons consul.
Daesha turned to look out the front window of the ship before returning to her lights, "Everything is fine here."
"Tash? Are those my robes???" Tyr'll asked her, staring at her.
At her master's exclamation, Zatanna glanced behind her and held back a snicker. "Definitely an improvement!"
Tash looked at Zatanna and smiled a bit smug "Thanks kid..." she then looked at Tyr'll and nodded "...Yeah...I kinda got bored with the whole robes thing.."
"I just try to stay away from those potato sacks all together.." Deasha remarked.
Tyr'll sighed and shook his head. "Alright, you changed, happy now?"
"Great...thanks..." Tash looked towards Deasha "and whatever you want kid..." she looked looked to Tyr'll standing, walking back to the room again "Come get me..when we are there"
(continue at a galaxy far far away)
Zatanna guided the ship gently back into the docks, setting it down expertly. There had hardly been a sound on the ship the entire journey, and that had given her time to think and calm down. "Well, ladies and gentleman, this is our stop," She said, rising from her chair and hitting the button for the docking floor to lower to the ground.
Tyr'll came out of his trance and returned from the back of the ship. "Thank you, Zatanna." He said to her, bowing his head in appreciation.
"Of course," Zatanna replied coldly. It was evident in her gaze and in her tone that she was mad at him.
Tyr'll averted his gaze quickly. He was ashamed of how he had acted and how quickly he had lost control. It had taken him years to get over the trauma that Josmar caused him, he thought that he had...apparently he was wrong. "I am sorry, Zatanna..." He said quietly.
Zatanna nodded. "It cannot be undone, but let us not linger too long on it and hasten to make right," She advised, stepping down off the ship into the fresh air of the planet.
"A wise statement." Tyr'll replied, agreeing with her
Daesha follewed the group slowly. The entire mission went horribly unorganized.
Tash sighed and got out of her seat, walking out of the ship and followed them. Not saying a word.
Tyr'll closed and sealed the hatch and then made his way over tot he maintenance droids. "There are three destroyer droids aboard, they will need repairs. Also, give it a scrub down and a fresh paint job, and try to get those laser burns off the hull, please."
The droid nodded and started to disbatch pit droids to deal with the list of jobs.
