Age: Time moves differently where he comes from so really, there's no way to tell.
Race: Mearle is a shadow fae. Unfortunately for his kind, they look very non-human which has forced them into hiding. Hugging our world is a parallel world of shadow. There the shadow fae exist. They can move between worlds in shadows and can therefore stay safe from humans. However, the shadow realm is nothing but a big black void. Its safe but it's blank.
Occupation: Mearle is looking for a job at the moment
Skills: Mearle doesn't have many nonparanormal skills besides sneaking. As a shadow fae, Mearle can slip in and out of shadow. When shrouded in darkness, all of his abilities increase. He can see better, move and react faster and better manipulate shadow. He can use shadows to propel himself around and lift himself. He can also entangle people in shadows to trap of smother them. However, all of these powers weaken significantly in the light. He sees in shadows, so the less shadows there are, the harder it is for hm to see. In daylight he may be reduced to only seeing slithers of darkness. If he has no shadows, he can't manipulate them. If he is shot with a concentrated blast of light it will leave him blind, powerless and naked. Bright light also burns and makes him sluggish. That being said, he's very uneasy around light things.
Weapons/Possessions: Mearle's claws, fangs and powers are his weapons. Besides that, he doesn't own anything. He eats bugs, has no real need of money. He would like to start some sort of collection if the fancy strikes him.
Appearance: Mearle is rather ambiguous looking. He has soft small features and an thin narrow body. He has no eyebrows, wide black eyes that don't reflect light, pure white skin and hair, claws and black gums framing his pointy teeth. He manipulates shadows to cover himself. It's not until now that he's bothered with clothes. He wears a black, oversized hoody that drapes over his clawed hands. He uses shadow to create baggy pants, mainly because he wraps shadow around his legs to fly around and he simply can't stand the real things. He wears sunglasses and poorly applied foundation makeup to look more human.
Personality: Mearle has been hiding his entire life. He is excited to interact with people, but at the same time, he's afraid to. He's naturally upset about the discrimination directed at magical beings. It makes him cynical, sharp tongued and quick to become defensive and insult people. He likes being able to pull tricks on humans and cause trouble. Being able to slip into shadow makes him rather cocky. He isn't violent, however. Mearle can become upset, but he would rather cause mental anxiety than physical harm. Mearle can be overly frank sometimes due to his lack of social interaction.
History: There really isn't much to say. Shadow fae are formed in pools of darkness. They are all family and coexist as a single unit. Mearle was one of the few shadow fae not satisfied with floating about gossiping. He snuck into the human world, spying on it and learning all he could learn. He has finally decided to step into the world he's obsessed over for his entire life.
