The bell over head rang out through the school, letting the students know that class was starting. The gym teacher walked along the side of the pool, blowing her whistle to get everyones attention. "Listen up! Today you will all be showing me your swimming skills. No teams just a group at time, down and back. Understood?" She was just about to blow her whistle once again when a young girl pipped up. "Coach Creedan, I don't think it's fair that some of us can shift into water animals and cheat." In the corner of the room, a young brunette blushed deeply, knowing it was her they were talking about. How could it not be, she was one of two shifters in the entire school, and the other wasn't in this class. The coach cleared her throat, glancing in her direction. "There will be no shifting during this trial, understood?" The embarrassed girl nodded her head gently, before names were called. Her's... was the first. "Shaylen Grigoria." Shay stepped forward blushing deeply, waiting for the others to line up along side her.

"Can we hurry this along..some of us don't really care about swimming." Came a bored voice from within the crowd of students. The coach growled as she turned to address the speaker. "Alright Jaden get in line." She snapped as she began to feel frustrated. Jaden pushed himself forward through the other students then took his place beside Shaylen. Glancing at her he rolled his eyes, knowing her only as the clumsy girl around school. "Don't mess this up, I got things to do." He muttered to her before beginning to stretch in preparation for swimming as his friends lined up beside him, chuckling at his words to Shaylen.

Shaylen blushed deeply at Jadens words. Sighing heavily she practically folded in on herself as she waited for the coach to finish reading off names. "Places! Ready...set..." The whistle was blown and Shaylen Dove into the water with ease. Her arms moved fluidly through the water, propelling her to the other side. She turned quickly, pushing off the other wall and back towards the other side. Once there she jumped out of the water and glanced around. She was the first one out. The rest of the class stared at her in shock. Surprised such a clumsy girl could swim in such a way.

It was a few moments later before Jaden pulled himself from the pool, panting heavily from the swim. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of Shaylen there before him and he couldn't help but frown. He wasn't used to people beating him. "Good work I guess..for a shifter." He turned and moved to the side brushing his jet black hair out of his yellowy green eyes before grabbing his towel and draping it round his shoulders. "Maybe you should get her to do it again to make sure she wasn't using her shifting powers.." He said as he looked towards the coach with a raised eyebrow.

"Keep quiet, Mr. Harvey." The coach glanced over at Shaylen she nodded towards the door. "Everyone who has swam, hit the showers and report to the bleachers. The rest of you, line up." Shaylen hurried down the hallway. As the girls locker room came into view she tried skidding to a halt in time but instead she slammed into the door. With a groan she opened the thick wooden door and stepped inside, heading to the shower. She hurried through it and then dressed. Coming out to th gym with her messenger bag she hurried over to the bleachers and sat on the bottom row.

Jaden couldn't help but chuckle lightly when he saw Shaylen slam into the locker room door. "You really are clumsy.." He commented as he passed by stepping into the male changing area. After he had showered and changed he moved to the bleachers and climbed up to sit on his usual spot at the back. With a heavy sigh he kept glancing at his watch before slumping down as his friends joined him. "I don't even know why shes here..I mean shes not very talented." One of the whispered as he watched Shaylen. "Lets have some fun..go on Jaden you can do it best." Jaden rolled his eyes then straightened up placing a light smirk on his face then with a light flick of his finger sent her bag skidding across the bleachers away from her.

Shaylen heard every word they said. Sighing heavily she reached for her bag, planning on getting a book, when it went skidding across the bleachers. Biting down on her bottom lip she frowned, wrapping her arms around her stomach. Leaning forward slightly she hid her face in her hair, trying to ignore them. Most kids ignored her, it was the Brotherhood that teased her and picked on her the most and today wasnt any different. Shaking her head she watched as another group came into the gym and sat down. Class was almost over, thank the gods.

"Aw man..she didn't even run after it." Someone said causing Jaden to shrug. "I guess shes not in the mood to play." He said as he watched the other group file onto the bleachers. "So what are we do after class Jaden..try and set fire to the library again or.." Jaden shook his head. "No i'm going back to my room..things to do." His friend pouted unhappily. "But I thought we were all going to hang out?" Jaden narrowed his eyes angrily. "I said no." He growled causing his friend to back off and leave him alone. "Can we go now?" He called in a frustrated tone after he had looked at his watch again.

Shaylen jumped at the coaches outburst, directly in front of her. "No Mr. Harvey, you may not. Im going to break you up into partners for the rest of the year. And since you spoke up first Mr. Harvey, you'll be partnered up with Ms. Grigoria. Come down and join her and grab her bag... now." The coach crossed her arms over her chest as she waited. Clearly not messing around. "Ill wait to pair everyone else off..."

Jaden growled then stood up and stamped down towards Shaylen, grabbing her bag as he did. Throwing it down next to her he slumped down next to her, folding his arms tightly across his chest. "So what exactly are we going to be doing in our pairs?" He asked with a frown as he glanced at Shaylen with a glare.

Shaylen gave a soft cringe as he threw her bag down beside her. Snatching it up she clutched it to her chest. Glancing at him out of the corner of her eye and sighed heavily. She couldn't believe the coach was doing this to her. Without answering him the coach paired up the rest of the class and then dismissed them. Throwing her messenger bag over her head so it rested against her hip, Shaylen took off out if the gym.

Jaden watched her go then stood up and moved quickly from the gym, heading towards his room. Slamming the door behind him he grabbed his phone then quickly dialed a number. "Yeah its me..you said I could talk to him. Just put him on!" He snapped as he slumped down on his bed. "Hey kid. How are you? Yeah I was just swimming." His tone had instantly changed to a gentle and happy one. "I think we'll be able to see each other soon." He carried on talking for a few minutes before a low growl suddenly emitted from his throat. "You could have given us longer. Fine! Yes i'm speaking with the new kids..goodbye." He threw his phone to the side and stood up with a sigh. Moving to his door he threw it open and stormed out, deciding he needed to get something to eat.

Shaylen had been walking through his hallway when he came flying out of his room, slamming into her. Falling to the floor, she braces herself with her hands. She realized how bad an idea that was the moment she hit the ground. "Ah!" Laying flat she clutched her right hand to her chest, whimpering softly. Glancing around she searched for what had hit her. At the sight of Jaden she frowned deeply. Oh... of course. It had to be him.... Not that anyone else would end up being nice to her either.

Stumbling backwards, Jaden frowned as he looked round to see what he had collided with. "Did you follow me? Where you listening to my phonecall?" He snapped angrily when his eyes finally fell on Shaylen. When he noticed her clutching her hand he sighed and ran his hand through his hair before speaking again. "Are you hurt?"

"I think I hurt my wrist..." Shaylen glanced around the hallway before sighing and shaking her head. "No I didn't follow you. I don't make it a habit to follow the people who are mean to me." Furrowing her eyebrows she turned her head up to look at him. "Nor did I hear your phone call. I was just passing by to get to the girls dorm. I didn't even know this was your room." Carefully, she swiveled around to her knees and attempted to get up, which only resulted in her falling into the wall. "Ow!"

Jaden sighed. He guessed he was going to have to help her. "I'll take you to see the nurse.." He said with a frown then carefully scooped her up into his arms. "Just don't tell anyone I helped you." He said as he began walking to the nurses office, his eyes quickly searching from side to side to make sure no one could see them. Once there he kicked his foot lightly against it to knock then waited for an answer.

"I don't talk to anyone. Haven't you noticed... no one likes me." Shaylen had given a soft yelp of surprise when he picked her up, not expecting it. Sighing softly she rolled her eyes as the door swung open and a very tall brunette stood in the doorway with her eyebrows raised. "Can I help you two?" Looking back and forth between them curiously she waited for their response. Shaylen wiggled around and sighed. "Jaden, you can put me down. Thank you for your help." Turning her attention to the nurse she shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing new, I fell and caught myself with my wrist. It's probably nothing."

Jaden carefully set her down then stood awkwardly behind her as she spoke to the nurse. "Uhh..so do you want me to stay?" He finally asked slowly unsure if he should wait with her or leave her alone. It was technically his fault she was here, and no matter how much he knew he should go he didn't want to leave her on her own.

Shaylen turned and looked up at Jaden in surprise. "Uh... I don't care... you can if you'd like." The nurse grabbed her uninjured arm and led her to a table to sit on. Taking a look at her wrist she tsked softly and shook her head. "Jaden, make up your mind, I'd like to shut the door so no one hears her cry." Shaylen's eyes widened as she looked up at him, fear evident in her eyes.

At the nurses order Jaden quickly stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, not having time to think about whether he wanted to leave or not. "Why is she going to cry?" He asked a little awkwardly as he looked at the nurse as he glanced occasionally at Shaylen and her fearful expression. "How badly is she hurt?"

The nurse looked over the wrist a little bit and tsked. "It appears to be broken, problem is... It's broken in a bad position so I'll need to shift the bones so that it heals properly." Shaylen gasped loudly and shook her head. "Can't we just get a healer?!" The nurse looked up at her before giggling softly and shook her head. "Dear, I am a healer, but even my powers wont work properly for this, it'll heal the bones improperly." Shaylen whimpered softly and closed her eyes. "Need something to hold onto?" Shaylen nodded her head. The nurse looked over at Jaden and nodded her head in Shaylen's direction in a "go on" sort of way.

"What me?!" Jaden questioned before sighing and moving to Shaylen's side and offered her his hand. This is going to be a disaster if anyone finds out. He thought miserably as he frowned down at the ground before looking back at Shaylen. "Go on then..just get it over with so then we can get out of here."

Shaylen hesitantly grabbed a hold of Jaden's hand and clutched it tightly. The nurse nodded her head and went to work, snapping her bones back into place she smiled softly and sensed to see if the bones were set properly. "I think I'll let this one rest for a bit before healing it." Grabbing a proper wrap she began wrapping Shaylen's hand. "Keep it wrapped, try not to agitate it or bump it." Her eyes darted to Jaden and she frowned deeply. "Try not to hurt her again." Her eyes narrowed a fraction trying to get it through to him so that he knew she meant, not just in physical pain. "You may go." Shaylen released Jaden and hurried out of the room with a soft thank you.

Jaden frowned at the nurse, unhappy with her words. When Shaylen hurried from the room he gave a small sigh and slowly followed after her. "Hey..wait." He called after her a little awkwardly. He stepped after her, running a hand through his hair as he did. "So..are you going to be okay?" He asked quietly as he folded his arms loosely over his chest.

Shaylen looked up at Jaden's words and frowned deeply. Sighing softly she turned to face him and nodded her head. "I'll be fine. Thank you for...helping me. I'm sorry if I seemed like such a baby." Shaking her head, she gave him a once over with a soft smile and turned to head back to her room.
