Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 Review
Last year I won myself a gently used Nintendo 64 off of eBay. It wasn’t easy either; I ended up having to bid on six different systems before I actually won one. Actually, the set that I ended up with was a lot better than the other five that I had been bidding on beforehand. While the other five sets only included the Nintendo 64 and the controllers for the console, the set that I ultimately won came with a few good games, including Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong, Pokemon Snap, and Mario Kart Racing. Honestly, I was most excited to finally be playing Super Mario again, even though Mario Kart is the one I find myself playing the most. While I even gave Pokemon Snap a fair try, it ended up being Donkey Kong that was the real pain to play.
I don’t know much about games, consoles, or really about much in the way of electronics in general. That really explains why I didn’t know that in order to play Donkey Kong, players needed to purchase and install a Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 into their console before the game would even boot up. After reading the error message that came up on our T.V. screen when Donkey Kong was inserted into our Nintendo 64, Hubby and I went to our local gaming shop to see if the guys down there would be able to solve my problem. Well, they were, and so I walked out of the shop with a brand new Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64.
Essentially, the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 adds extra memory to the Nintendo 64 console. Yup, that’s it. Since I haven’t really played Nintendo 64 games in years, I can’t really say that the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 enhances the quality of the games or not, to me, they all looked exactly the same before and after I installed the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64.
The Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 is a black plastic, rectangular piece that has a red grated piece of plastic sticking out of the top of it, which allows it to clasp onto the Nintendo 64. I spent fifteen bucks on my Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 though I’m sure they’re available for less money elsewhere. So far, other games that I know of that absolutely require the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 in order to run are Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2.
Personally, I think that the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 is kind of a waste of money. Let’s face it, Donkey Kong and those other games, those aren’t really the greatest games for the console, and generally, most players won’t miss not being able to play them. However, for huge Nintendo 64 junkies like me, the Nintendo N64 Expansion Pack for Nintendo 64 is a necessary piece of equipment for maximum gaming fun!
