My Old(er) Poetry

Here all all the ancient poems from before I really started writing for real basically. Everything before my second Daily Poem is here :)

Dreams
This one won a contest in 6th grade(^,^)

We only wander through your mind,
Ever different, old as time.
You remember not of what we were,
A swirling cloud, a jumbled blur.
We come to you at each day's end
As you slumber in your bed.
Sometimes we are of the calm blue seas
And other times, lost memories.
Sometimes bad and sometimes good;
Of merry men and Robin Hood.
We'll choose where your mind shall go,
Whether up high or way down low.
To call us just lie down your head,
Wait ‘til your eyelids feel like lead.
Think hard of what is on your mind
And leave your real world far behind.
Leave your ideas and thoughts to us
And we'll clear them of age-old dust.
When you feel it's time for a snooze,
Then that is when we'll visit you.

The End of Time

At dawn's bold light,
It is so bright,
As it shines upon my face.
That golden rise
I don't despise
So tender, yet I brace.
For the end of time
Stops on a dime
As it moves ‘twixt here and space,
There is no hope,
The world shall mope,
And the skies will darken in haste...

Forever.

No One

No one can see me, for no one is blind.
No one can hear me, for no one is deaf.
No one can speak to me, for no one is mute.
No one understands me, for no one is inexplicable.
No one exists, for no one can understand, hear, see, or speak.
I am alone,
And No One is my ally.

For Two Lost Loved Ones

I would walk a thousand miles,
And then a thousand more,
Just to see your face again
Than to dream it evermore.

And when I see your eyes once more,
Those eyes I know and love,
It's like meeting for the first time,
Like someone's watching from above.

But then those eyes glaze over
And I no longer see there light;
Their feeling cold as ice
And their cores as dark as night.

I can not feel your breath,
Once warm upon my cheek,
And your once strong body
Lays in my arms, now weak.

In the dark I hear a call,
And I know we'll meet again,
Though I do not understandWhy it only calls your name.

But I shall keep on holding on
To that kind soul that I once knew,
And still travel those thousand miles
Still only to be with you.

Revenge
Finally found a title for this one...

A sorrow that cannot be held,
That lashes at his heart,
The gleaming sword that can't be weld
To join it's counterpart.
The single breathe that can't be breathed
To kill a gentle soul,
The simple man who will not leave
To go and seek his goal.
An anger that has risen now
That can't be pressed back down,
The man to whom the great king bows,
The sheep's skin hides the hound.
The tear that falls upon the lake
That makes the rising tides,
He knows that this risk he must take
And in courage confide.
For he in fear shall make his way
Down the whirlpool's drain,
No longer see the light of day,
Beaten by Satan's cane.

,~Night~'

My eyes snapped open
At the bump in the night,
What is this that wakes me
In the middle of the night?
I can't see just what it was
On this cold, lonely night,
Although I look in front of meInto the darkened night.
My eyes are straining, heart racing,
But there is nothing in the night
Nothing to be seen or heard,
Just staring blankly toward the night.
But I hear the dark calling my name
Into that merciless night,
And it grabs me, struggling, by the throat
I scream in fright
In my deadly plight,
Pulled to where there is no light,
Into the darkness of the night.

Hell

To die is to sleep,
Inside devil's keep,
Where the fires do burn
And the angels do weep.

Ever to yearn
For that second turn,
Right your mistakes:
It's your only concern.

You won't have what it takes
Die again on the stakes,
For the tortures are long,
And there's no pearly gates.

The flames are so strong,
Want to know what went wrong,
And now the ring of a bell
Is Satan's own gong.

Beaten til swelled,
And useless are yells,
For you are in Hell, now,
For you are in Hell.

Why Can't I Fly?
This was my very first Daily Poem (5/02/2004). As much as I dislike it, I'm still proud of it in an odd way...

You kept your eyes upon me,
But then you moved away,
Disappeared into the night,
Faded into the day.

You left me in the dark,
To cry here all alone,
For all the things that once were wrong
Were always set into the stone.

You've tied me up and bound me,
Locked inside these chains,
To never escape and fly away,
Yet never see you again.
Birds fly into the sky
Over land and over sea
And over the canyon filled with your lies,
So tell me, why not me?

Where is the key that opens the lock
That once belonged to your heart?
Why can't I seem to let you go,
Why must we never part?

You've strapped to this island
Of lost secrets, hopes, and dreams,
To ever wait watching the silent water,
As the sun upon it gleams.

I want to touch that sun,
To fly away, and greet it,
Want to feel its kind and warmth,Want to finally meet it.

You've tied me up and bound me,
Locked inside these chains,
To never escape and fly away,
Yet never see you again.
Birds fly into the sky
Over land and over sea
And over the canyon filled with your lies,
So tell me, why not me?

I once did love with all my heart
Your gentle, caring soul,
But now I really see its truth
Just a darkened, deep black hole.

I once felt pain when your light was gone,
But now I see that it never shone.

You've tied me up and bound me,
Locked inside these chains,
To never escape and fly away,
Yet never see you again.
Birds fly into the sky
Over land and over sea
And over the canyon filled with your lies,
So tell me, why not me?

I want to fly away from here, want to fly away from you,
So that's just what I'll do,
Fly off into the blue…

‘Cause I can fly…

Σκοτάδι
The title reads as 'Skotadi', which means 'darkness' in Greek.

Heart of black, eyes of blue,
Reflecting road and grass and dew.
Robe of gray, hair of white,
Blinding you against the night.
Countless scars from long-past wars,
Recalling the battles upon the moors.
The memories from his long, hard years
Remembers the sound that comes to his ears.
The chilling sound of an owl in the dark,
Much unlike the calm call of a lark.
His blood runs cold, from the tales that were told,
That the cry of an owl shall bring death to one's soul.
Innocent blood that stains his hands,
From those who resided in old distant lands.
The owl lands upon it's perch in a tree
And stares at him with cruel eyes of light green.
He looks away from the owl in the night,
Blinded by it's hallowed light.
It swoops down upon him, who was praying and hoping,
As for his sword he keeps scrambling and groping.
The owl carries him off and disappears in the dark,
Like a moth does against a tree's bark.
Then the light surrounded him, like a baby in cloth,
Blinds even those who love the light, as away flies the moth.

Forgotten Self

I saw you yet again today,
And thought it was a dream,
I looked straight at your eyes,
And you stared right back at me.
You always look familiar,
A face I can't put name to,
But I always see you when I wake
And I know I somehow know you.
Perhaps it's from a past year?
Perhaps we were long-lost friends?
And yet I know, that wherever I go,
You will be there til the end.
I saw you yet again today,
Whilst staring through my mirror,
For the face that now stares back once more
Is just me standing here.

Trapped

Prisoner sitting in his cell,
The bird caught in the cage
Wizardry and magic tricks
Unknown unto the mage.
Lonely captive waiting here
Staring through steel bars
Beaten to an inch from death,
Scared eyes cutting through the dark.
Little fish stuck in a well,
Longing for its home,
Social peoples quiet now,
Knowing they're alone.
But although I'm not the age-old doll
Still posing on its shelf,
I am still stuck and can't escape,
Trapped inside myself.

Alone in the Twilight

People...all standing still,
Watching...the stars dot the the sky,
Waiting...for that final kill,
Knowing...that they also will die.
Laughing...through their retched tears,
Climbing...a mountain going nowhere,
Looking...past their fears,
Memories...that they must share.
Love...that doesn't exsist,
Hate...that will never leave,
Darkness...combining with the mists,
Fear...the sword emerged from the sheath,
Slashing out upon them,
They who still kept watching, waiting for their turn,
Knowing it was time, laughing at his loneliness,
Climbing, looking for an espace, but it's not there,
Remembering the memories of their loved ones,
And also of those they had hated,
Falling through the darkness, through the fog and the mist,
Fear swallowing them like an untamable beast...

And no one even knows what had happenned to them...

Simply gone...off into the twilights,
Where the people
Still stand...
Alone.

Lullabies at the End of All Dreams

Hush now, my child,
Please don't fade away,
Like the roses in winter
Or the moon in the day.
Be still now, don't weep,
And do not be afraid,
For the Dark One shall leave,
And the night turn to day...
When the last owl does call,
Through the snow and the ice,
And all Men do cower round,
Like meek unmanly mice,
Do not be afraid, nor filled with fear,
For I am still here, child,
For I am still here.

Untitled (as of yet, that is)

The dead will tell with icy breath
To the living who're afraid of death
That the deseased have peace of mind,
For their lives are all too kind.
The living live with both bad and evil,
They block out God but see the Devil.
The dead are saved and live with peace,
Though the living can still die with ease.

Peace In the Night

Looking at the at stars that dot the skies
‘Tis a welcomed escape from our meek little lives.
The bright silver orb that hovers above,
Will always be there to both hate and to love.
We never look forward to the sine of the sun,
Just the old peaceful remedy of dream-lands to come.

Darkness, My Old Friend

Hello, goodbye, hello again
To you, Darkness, my old friend.
It's not been long, but how've you been,
Since you went home and back again?

I've been just fine without you here;
I haven't shed a single tear,
Haven't felt your ling'ring fears,
But now, again, I face your leer.

The sun's been kind to live under,
My brokenness it's light has sundered,
But staying here has been my blunder,
Now all I know is clouds and thunder.

Goodbye, hello, goodbye again,
I can't stand all this sorrow ‘n' sin,
So to you, Darkness, my old friend:
I hope we never meet again.

Untitled (again...)

Without the promise that the moon will shine,
How do we know just whom we can see and trust,
And just how much that we have left of time
Before evil overcomes all that is just?

Where the Wild Beasts Are

Tread softly through the forests where they lie,
Don’t look through the trees or at the sky.
At night be careful where you rest and lay,
For then is when they sit to watch and wait.
Inside the shadows, their eyes do gleam of red,
Stained with the blood that knowing trav’lers dread.
Best say a prayer and catch a falling star
Before entering the land where the wild beasts are…

Ring-Around-the-Roses…

Ring-around-the-roses, jump to the moon
And over the mountainside,
Where happiness awaits us soon,
Where on light wings we’ll glide.

Back to the places that we called home
Look to the land ‘cross the dark,
We’ll stay together, never alone,
Awaiting the call of the lark.

Though scorching sun and freezing nights
May seem to be all in vain,
Together through it we’ll stand and fight,
And triumph through the Dark Lord’s reign.

Questions of the “Wrongly Chosen One”
Written for an English assignment in 8th grade--not one of my favorites, to say the least...

A breeze:
A gale.
A whisper:
A scream.
In desperate denial he walks this earth;
In solemn understanding he hides in shadows,
Fearing what he must do,
And knowing what will happen
Should he choose to ignore it.
Why him?
He who was so terrified and alone,
He who was hopeless and lost
In this world of nightmares?
How could he now face them?
Face them for another’s sake?
Why not a stronger being,
Someone like his own heroes?
And should he choose to save them,
These strangers that are just as afraid
As he had always been,
And even more so now,
Who will be there to save him?
He was too weak,
Too confused,
To rescue himself…

Wasn’t he…?

Careless People
Second Daily Poem winner (1/28/2005)

Day by day I see the faces,
Passing through the empty spaces.
Behind them lies the yesterdays
Gone like clouds that never stay.
Vacant as eternity,
A lock that doesn’t have a key.
Loud as the highest silent sound,
The earthquake as the leaf hits ground.
Future holds a nothingness
But they’re too busy and depressed
To care what happens at next sunrise,
Except if it means their demise.
