Onboard the Nightmare, Captain Viktorya, Sparhawk the first mate, Kimiko the doctor, Felix the deckhand, Ailis the navigator, Borris the artilerist, Chastity the helmsman, Kaleb the cook, and Rhaz the lookout fight against an Imperial ship. They win the fight and the Imperial ship begins to sink. Only some rigging from the ship gets caught on the Nightmare and the Imperial ship begins to drag the Nightmare down with it. Rhaz saves the ship by cutting the rigging and the crew captures and brings aboard the Imperial ship's captain. Shortly after, the Imperial captain hides somewhere on this ship and goes missing.
