Evites
Several Different species in the novel:
Muldvarp
A hideous species that holds the appearance of a mole with enlarged teeth, some that even stick up out of their mouths to pierce their upper and lower lips. Sometimes their teeth grow so much that it kills them. They have slits of black for eyes. They have giant digging claws that come out in front, it protects their large bodies from harm. they also have short, spindly legs, almost like a beetle mutated to grow as huge as a horse. Large tentacles stick out of their backs like giant living earthworms. If the very sight of them doesn't scare you, then their breath certainly will. They only eat freshly killed meat.
World: Tune
Valdekor
Tall, elegant beasts, Valdekor have the ability to enhance one's natural abilities when being touched/ ridden. They can also manipulate reality and overshadow powerful minds briefly- if tried on weaker minds the overshadowed person will die. They prefer to speak telepathically rather than physically.
They are powerfully built and have horse-like bodies. They have wings that can be folded to the point that they do not appear to be there. Their tails are made out of a thin, metal-like substance that can slice through almost anything, though it still holds the appearance of a normal tail.
World: Evites
Meercat Taurs
Much like their cousins back on earth, they have the same build as normal meercats, but instead of four legs they have six, having another pair of front legs. Most of the time they run around on four legs and use their extra torso like a centaur. The male are bigger and more muscular then their counterparts, but the females have stubby gray wings which makes it easier to gather mushrooms that grow on the ceilings of their homes deep underground.
Originally Earth but brought to Tune and blessed with
language and mutation by the god council.
Sphinx
Their species consists of many different kinds of sphinxs and only one in a million are born as gods. They all have the ability to go to a timeless place between worlds that has become known as their haven and in this way they can travel to different worlds in a blink of an eye. They are fast, agile, smart, and dangerous, being partly animal, backing them into a corner is not a very smart thing to do... in fact, its a very stupid thing to do.
- Ckor - Snow Raven sphinx. God of time, wisdom, goodluck and protection and has three forms; sphinx, man, and beast.
From the Haven
Halfbloods
Half god, half mortal, halfbloods are known as annoyances and occur when a god sleeps around.
They have no home world
Phulpine
Phulpine's are a silver fox-like race with distinct wolf traces in their looks that can change their size at will.
- Phae - A two form goddess, Phae is human looking for her first form, but her second is Phulpine.
Random bits and pieces:
Asities groaned, "Kill a god? That's damn near impossible!"
"Don't say that." Raven scolded, "We'll manage it somehow- we need to get Ckor his powers back after all..." (Ch 2)
Shaking him violently Ckor jumped when the door was barged open revealing several large men with ropes. In desperation Ckor tipped over the dragon's cot but still he would not wake and the men forced Ckor back toward the window, "Surrender pretty man." One of them hissed.
"Pretty man?" Ckor repeated, slightly confused as he glanced to Asities on the floor before looking back at the men, "Just see if you can catch me," The sphinx growled, backing out the window where his wings appeared. The men ran to the window, searching for him but in the darkest time of night their sight failed them. (Ch. 2)
Asities laughed nervously, "There's no need for thanks. If it hadn't been for you and Ckor I'd have been dead by now. And to think I slept through the whole fight! Of all the things to do you chose to kill a god..." He grinned.
"Its a good thing she did," Ckor commented, "And you act like its an impossible deed."
"Not impossible." Asities said, "Improbable... Now then- how about we get our feet on the ground? It's gotten quite dark and I'm still slightly tired from whatever induced my sleep." (Ch 3)
"Well, they were rumored to have last lived here, or rather they were banished here." The god replied.
"Rumored?" Asked a masculine voice from the cave entrance, "Now why would we be considered a myth if I am standing right here?" A medium built man stood next to Ckor like he had been there the whole time, the hood of his cloak drawn up over his eyes to rest on the ridge of his nose. Some locks of his almond colored hair could be seen from within but that was all the skin or hair you could see. At his breast, holding his cloak over his shoulders was a glass clasp in the shape of a golden cat slit eye that glowed green in the shadows. Other then that his dress was very plain, revealing nothing else to be noted of other then his calm smile.
Ckor leapt up to the cave's ceiling and gripped it with his outstretched claws before hissing menacingly. (Ch. 3)
"Ugh... why does this always have to jar me so... Raven?" Ckor blinked before he awoke enough to realize that he was surrounded by... at first what he thought were over sized rats with an extra pair of legs and some with gray wings... they looked back at him with wide black eyes in the well lit cavern and one let out in a soft piping voice, "He's awake!" What he thought were rats were really... Meercat taurs!
The god let out a soft sigh of relief, "Oh thank the stars," He looked around and saw Asities laying on the ground a little ways away surrounded by Meercat taurs. He didn't see Raven or any sign of the Lykodine Rider, if he had shone his face the taurs would not have been looking after them. They were the same size as Ckor and he grabbed one's shoulder with his paw to get his attention, "Where are we?" (Ch. 4)
"They like to be open about where they are... because no one dares to make them mad... there should simply be a big building that says 'Assassin's Guild' on it. Their headquarters are always a blood red building so it shouldn't be too hard to find." He didn't mention that an assassin could very easily just approach them and offer themselves as a guide. Though their idea of a business was cruel and often violent, most of the members were fairly good natured and not bad people.
"I see," Raven said, "heh, I've got to be quiet again, we're nearing a pretty busy area..." She turned her gaze forward, occasionally recieving strange glances, which she had no doubt was because of her clothes, as blood stained as they were. She merely ignored them and maneuvered her way through the thick clot of people. (Ch. 5)
"So what do I have to do?" Raven asked, touching the bracelet when it was held out to her. Almost immediately it became a blood red before gradually fading to a deep purple, she drew back her hand in surprise.
Master Riliane's eyes widened as she stared at the stone in her hands before glancing at the blue one around Lisowin's neck, "I have never heard of such a thing of this nature happening before..." She whispered softly, "Are you two bonded... to have the same ability to deviate the heart stone... into something else?" (Ch. 6)
The Lykodine head butted Asities' back.
"Hey!" Asities exclaimed softly, shooting the Lykodine a look, "what was that for?"
The beast's blue eyes narrowed and he stuck out his tongue. Lisowin had turned slightly to see what they were doing before shaking his head, "He's trying to make friends with you... he wants you to pull his tongue."
"Pull... his tongue?" Asities made a weird face and Raven laughed.
"Yeah," She said after a moment, and Asities sighed, glancing back at the Lykodine uncertainly before reaching out a hand, tugging lightly on Mirth's tongue, and quickly withdrawing his hand. He picked up his pace so that he was then walking in front of Raven, Lisowin, and Mirth. (Ch. 7)
Raven moved across the room and crouched before Ckor, "Do not feel as though you must feel shame for what happened. Indeed either way I would have slept for two days. And I do not regret it, that injury was nothing compared to what I would have felt had you been injured, or worse- dead." She leaned across the space between them and wrapped her arms about him.
The God whimpered before the tears fell and he wrapped his wings around them both and silently told her his sorry's. (Ch. 8)
Her eyes slowly changed color, becoming overwhelmed with an inky black as her wings pulled out from her spine and her teeth elongated. Silver markings trailed down her form, and suddenly Raven crouched, releasing a feral snarl before leaping at her bonded.
"Raven! What are you doing!?" Lisowin fell back to the ground, grasping both of Raven's arms to keep her from scratching him as Mirth grasped the scruff of her neck to keep her fangs away from Lisowin's face. Her wings buffeted everyone around them and Mirth did something drastic, throwing Raven against the wall to knock her out.
She landed on all fours against the wall, black energy swirling about her body in thick waves, before leaping back into action- her new target being Tavadon, who happened to be in a straight line from her position on the wall. (Ch. 9)
The Lykodine moved away from the door and flopped down on the huge bed, taking up most of the space except for where Lisowin sat, tightening the bands over his calves, "Hello you two!" Lisowin said with a smile on his face, "Ready for dinner?"
"Yeah, we just... well, we had no idea where we were supposed to go so we came here." Asities managed. (Ch. 10)
