2003-12-13 [evil little alice]: equse me, for making this comment, but...pagan, itsent that anyone who dosent follow the biggest world religions?or was i told wrong?
2003-12-17 [Lady Twist]: it's a common misconception, but you were told incorrectly..i
2003-12-17 [evil little alice]: ok..
2004-01-03 [sugarplumfairy]: How do I become part of the class? I can't do it because I don' t know the pasword or somethin'.I dunno
2004-01-03 [evil little alice]: just ask your questions here, at the chat, or send an message to the teatcher [Lady Twist] and ask her...
2004-01-03 [sugarplumfairy]: okey dokey, thanks
2004-01-31 [Oh__xDoctor Doctor!]: isn't wicca the worship/practi
2004-02-01 [Lady Twist]: wicca is a faith..a system of belief
2004-02-01 [Lady Twist]: witchcraft is a practice, a 'craft'
2004-02-01 [Lady Twist]: a non-wiccan can practice 'magic' or 'witchcraft'-s
2004-02-03 [Oh__xDoctor Doctor!]: ooooooo i get it now
2004-02-04 [Lady Twist]: ok..I need to get more info, but some of my research is going slowly
2004-02-20 [urbanfairy]: I know a great many pagans and was one myself at some time. Just an idea for some future lessons, what about traditions of paganism? Like dianic paganism, seax wicca, strega, astru and the many others???? I just think it is important to mention the different sects of paganism......
2004-02-20 [Lady Twist]: it is..right now, I'm trying to find everything, but most of it is completely biased.
2004-02-20 [Lady Twist]: it makes me wish all of my friends had different religions..tha
2004-02-21 [The New Enigma]: heh lady twist, i dont know if its much help but i sent u a message asking about joining the class but reading the comments to this page i also wanted to ask if u would like some help searching for information on the class/subject, i've become very very interested in wicca and paganism and since im looking for information on the off occasion maybe u would like some help gatherin some info for the class?
2004-03-10 [Black Rain]: If you're having trouble finding info on wicca and sorts online and since i do a bit of outside reading on Wicca, i don't know if this will help, but look up an author by the name of Silver Ravenwolf. You might be able to get some good ideas from her books on the Craft...
2004-04-02 [hive]: I agree, Silver Ravenwolf is excilent, but also try Scott Caningham, hope I spelt that right, he wrote an awsome book called Earth Magic, check it out
2004-04-03 [Oh__xDoctor Doctor!]: yea thats a good book! he's a great writer (i think its cunningham)
2004-04-03 [Rana]: Actually, Lady Twist, I believe that the information you have about WitchCraft is incorrect. I, as a Wiccan/Witch, realize that WitchCraft and Wicca are both religions. Some, in fact, beleive there is a difference between the two religions. They think that Wicca is a sort of neo-witchcraft
2004-04-03 [Rana]: Also, I'm curious as to why you are classifying the Anton Layeman beleivers as Satanists. How are they Satanists if they don't worship the higher power of Satan? Finally, for I am coco, I would recommend C.C. Bronwin's book Maiden Magic if you are (A) going to be Pagan, and (B) are female.
2004-04-11 [The New Enigma]: haha first of all no im not a female but i am going to be pagan ill check it out. wouldnt the definition of Anton Layeman Satanists up basically mean Athiest? as in "the rejection of a higher almighty"?
2004-04-21 [EbolaCola]: I'm brand spanking new to Elftown and when I heard there were religion classes I had to check it out! So, woot, hello teachers and everyone!
2004-04-21 [EbolaCola]: Actually Rana, some Lavey Satanists do practice magic/witchcra
2004-04-21 [EbolaCola]: BTW, if anyone has any questions about LaVey Satanism, I'd be happy to answer, I'm not an expert, but I know enough I think.
2004-06-02 [Clarimonda]: I would be interested in learning more about LaVey Satanism. If it does not worship Satan, why is it called Satanism?
2004-06-03 [evil little alice]: Clarimonda, pleas go and see the lavey-satanism-class, and i'll awnser you questions there.-the professor
2004-07-29 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: OK, I didn't have time to read through all the comments or anything here, but incase anyone would like to know, I am wiccan, so if anyone needs some help or anything lemme know! MmmKay!? ;)
2004-07-30 [Clarimonda]: Archeress, one of my friends is Wiccan and he said he was a solitary. what does that mean?
2004-07-31 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: I believe it means he doesn't practice with a coven. As am I.
2004-08-01 [Clarimonda]: I see. :)
2004-08-01 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: The greatest book to read if you want to knw anything about wiccan beliefs is "Solitary Witch"
2004-08-05 [Hedgehog]: I belive there are four different types of Satanism: That taught by Anton LaVey, Those who worship Stan as the evil element in a balance, those who worship Satan as the good force in a balance, and those that worship Satan as a deity, such as a god, but where there is no other.
2004-08-06 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: That's exactly right [Hedgehog] (At least as far as I know)
2004-08-17 [Erce]: What about mystics?
2004-08-23 [Delladreing]: Well hello class ^_^ im going to be your new teacher here as Lady Twist hasnt been seen for a while.
2004-08-24 [.ash.]: Wow, a change!! ^___^
2004-08-24 [askdjnso]: Don't bother to read Silver Ravenwolf, she's wonderfully fluffy but somewhat inconsistent. Try Scott Cunningham or Ray Buckland or Ann Moura, all of whom were/are very nice people whose conferences I've attended. I have no problem with Ravenwolf as long as it is taken with a handful of salt. Much of her faith is a blend of native american & christian beliefs as well as Wicca, while this is much more parent friendly, this is not necessarily the "one true way" if there even is one. Before you take her word on the subject, please read other authors, if you need more help a good site to go to is www.witchvox.c
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: oh but i do have a probelm with her, very much so lol. im sure she started out with good intentions but she has basically just managed to fluff the religion up so much its unreal. also the faith she was so sure of she has abandonned to return to christianity so id take her words with less than a few pinches of salt
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: did you know she changed the rede?
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: did she realy? no i wasnt aware of that...how arrognat of her really
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: i didn't read any of her books completely, couldn't stand it. imo, she's always writing in this fluffy tone that would be suitable for a three year old.. *rolls eyes*
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: it was the way in which she knew what she was talking about but never really expected you to that really annoyed me...plus there was the fluffy tone all the time lol
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: i think she just wants to make money by selling what she knows to fluff teenager girls who want to do only love spells.
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: *nods* well if she is still making money from her books i will be very upset, considering how she has converted anyway and claims she wants nothing to do with paganism anymore. i think that means she should give up the publishing rights and the mopney that comes with the books then (*snorts* yea right like thats a likely scenario)
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: omg, she gave up on paganism?? that shows how fake she was.. (like there was any other evidence needed except the books lol) btw no offense to anyone who likes her books..
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: yes she converted back to christianity, so that whole spool about paganism being the path the gods decided for her was obviously not very, how can i say this, TRUE
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: i don't like how people say in their books "this is the true path bla bla bla" it's like propaganda basically, what narrowminded people do and it disturbs me. today i was reading this book called "wicca" by vivianne crowley and she was implying the same thing. if i remember correctly she said something like "those who choose the true path will continue to excell at their studies" or something. have you read any of her books?
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: yes ive flicked threw one or two of them, but i really must read more books so i can get an accurate book list up here. many writers say that though, its their way of keeping you buying their books because they convince you they know best
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: *dies* i just realised i missed out A.Crowley on the lesson2 page........no
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: my main source is the internet although i like reading anything just about any religion. that's how i decided my beliefs fitted best into the pagan category. so i think the best way is to use as many sources as you can to decide what's best for YOU. anyways, that was off topic sorry
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: lol no you are very right. i have read about many religions in my search for the right one for me. i even managed to read that huge book on the Golden Dawn Order that was in our shop in town lol. it took me about a week lol but i did it
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: seeing different opinions is always good. it gives you perspective. so it was probably worth your time..
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: yea it will be....as soon as ive read all 42 books under my bed LOL
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: i have people recomending other books to me aswell so i will read them aswell probably
2004-08-24 [SeraphicDeviltry]: you have a lot of work to do then i guess ^_^ btw nice layout on the lesson 2
2004-08-24 [Delladreing]: lol yah i do, good thing is i can just link a lot of my playgans wiki here like the ardanes, rather than type them all out again which really would kill me LOL. ^_^ thanks, there was a bit too much to type out and leave on one big page, youd have been scrolling for ages lol
2004-08-25 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: JUst to add another site to visit if you need some advise is www.paganpath.
2004-08-25 [SeraphicDeviltry]: also www.askhagatha
2004-08-25 [Delladreing]: dumb question this but how do the students feel about homework? lol i can see the answer alreay but i thought it was worth me asking
2004-08-26 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: GAH! BLAH! *Cough cough* I think I'm sick... I can't come to class today! *Sneeze...I mean cough*
2004-08-26 [Delladreing]: *smiles* fair enough no homework then
2004-08-26 [SeraphicDeviltry]: give homework, people who want to do it can do it or people who already have an idea about it will tell what they know.. or just ask what people know about something, just don't call it homework :) takes away the motivation, that damn word...
2004-08-26 [Delladreing]: now theres a thought, thanks
2004-08-26 [SeraphicDeviltry]: also by giving homework you would have to give deadlines, correct? i think it might be hard for some people to gather info until the deadline or some won't even know you gave homework... so i think just asking what people know about something and then explaining what it is in full detail will be the best. just my opinion anyways..
2004-08-26 [Delladreing]: hmmm maybe ill put a few homeworky test things up and if people want to sit them they can copy and paste it and send me the answers
2004-08-26 [SeraphicDeviltry]: that's an idea. then maybe you could send the answers you wrote.
2004-08-26 [Delladreing]: yea thats what i was thinking
2004-08-31 [Elvómir]: *blinks* what nutter let Dela have the autority to teach ^_-. knew id see you here one day lol
2004-08-31 [Delladreing]: well that was nice Xp. well duh, i kept saying "i want to tech the pagan class" lol
2004-09-16 [Mordigen]: I'd like to be a teacher
2004-09-16 [Delladreing]: then you would need to contact the professor of this section who is [evil little alice]
2004-09-19 [Elenaia]: That is not a reasuring name!
2004-09-19 [Delladreing]: haha shes lovely really
2004-09-20 [evil little alice]: hehe, send me a pm and tell me what you wish to teach in a class/etc.:) Nevermind the name.
2004-09-20 [Delladreing]: see your still alive ^_- shes lovely i tell you :p
2004-09-20 [Elenaia]: ok, I suppose I believe you :p, are there many teachers?
2004-09-20 [Delladreing]: well theres meant to be a teacher for each class, this class is like my domain bit, but it was Lady Twists, if she doesnt turn up soon ill just remove her from it i think
2004-09-21 [hive]: delahreing, what is the difference, if any, between a pagan and neo-pagan
2004-09-21 [Delladreing]: pagan refers to a more "ancient" form of faith or lifestyle, neopaganism is a much newer faith based on the older faiths...if that makes anysense
2004-09-21 [Delladreing]: A Neopagan religion is a modern faith which has been recently reconstructed from beliefs, deities, symbols, practices and other elements of an ancient religion - there i think thats it worded better
2004-09-21 [Delladreing]: just like wicca is a "neopagan" religion that has grown out of old british faith and the celtic faith
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: so what about the pagans, whats that about, I'm still unclear?
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: pagan is the word we use to describe a much older faith, from the christian point of iew it means "one who is not within Christian (some liberals would say of mainstream faith)". but many people who follow old faiths like witchcraft (not wicca which is a new religion) would call themselves pagan
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: me then!
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: i call myself pagan for the pure simplicity of the term, people recognise it so i use it
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: well, i am not as heavily into it as some of my friends in our society, but I am what you would call a solitary witch
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: what faith do you follow? if you dont mind me asking ^_^ i mean is it wicca (like a specific sect of it ) or another path of similar oreiantation?
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: I'm a witch, I guess, I found some time ago that I have an empathy with relaitionships
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: *smiles* isnt that always the way, help others before we can help ourselves
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: hmm, well I try!
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: hehe its not that i try its just that it happens to me
2004-09-22 [Elenaia]: Its a case of hit and miss, though for some reason its always the hit when other people have relaitionship problems, I feel like an agony aunt sometimes
2004-09-22 [Delladreing]: yes, thats the term i was looking for, its like people automatically assume we know what to do or something
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: Though I do find it interesting when people who I barely know ask me for advise, you'd think they'd ask someone their friends with!
2004-09-23 [Delladreing]: yea i know, its weird. maybe certain people project an aura of wisdom or something
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: Or mabye people are starting to realise just how embarassing it really is to send their problems to a magazine problem solver! Just my opinion
2004-09-23 [Delladreing]: quite possibly yes ^_^
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: Well, after this past week, I kinda hope some people will go back to them! Its like its influx for the miserable and relaitionship challenged!
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: I know its mean and selfish, but I am naturally an introvert and tend to feel a little claustrophobic after a while!
2004-09-23 [Delladreing]: hahaha nicely put
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: Well its damn true!
2004-09-23 [Delladreing]: im not doubting it for a second, luckily for me this week ive managed to hide from the small hordes of people who want to know what they should do
2004-09-23 [Elenaia]: i haven't Iv'e bin stuck at work with love sick walking hormones
2004-09-23 [Delladreing]: aww no thats awful
2004-09-23 [Alythar]: Hey...this is really nice. I didn't know you were over this, too, Dela. I'll have to find time to read through this; there's a lot I haven't learned about our recent history. ::gets busy::
2004-09-24 [Delladreing]: hello Alythar, yes this is yet another thing I am part of lol. Im still composing other lessons, but I've been trying to make everyhitng I do as accurate as possible.
2004-10-04 [Mordigen]: will people please go check out my lesson 1 in Druidry & Traditional Hernology
2004-10-05 [Delladreing]: thats an empty page Mordigen
2004-10-05 [Mordigen]: whoops, made a typo --- Druidry & Traditional Herbology instead of hernology, lol
2004-10-06 [Delladreing]: well from what i read of i managed to read of it so far it looks very good Mordigen, i must go back when i have more time and read all of it
2004-10-10 [Mordigen]: thankyou ^_^
2004-10-10 [Delladreing]: you are more than welcome
2004-10-12 [Elenaia]: Hello again
2004-10-13 [Delladreing]: hello you ^_^
2004-11-01 [Raiah]: Happy Halloween All!!!!!!!!!!!
2004-11-01 [Delladreing]: ah i couldnt get online last night! Happy Samhain/Hallow
2005-03-17 [Delladreing]: i think it is safe to say, my class ran away lol ^-^
2005-03-18 [Elenaia]: Hello, how r u all today? Its sunny and hot, how about you?
2005-03-18 [Amayanda]: yikes, nobody has updated for ages! Ello everyone. It's cold out here. Where are you, Elenaia? Oh, and when's the next pagan/Wiccan holiday? I can't remember, but I think it's Beltane...
2005-03-18 [Delladreing]: Next one is Ostara (or Spring Equinox) -- March 19-22. Then it be Beltaine on May 1st
2005-03-18 [Delladreing]: Hmm maybe i should put the holidays up...*wanders off to type that up*
2005-03-19 [Amayanda]: Thanks, Deladreing. Very helpful, as usual! Now I have to find my circle stuff... *starts tearing room apart*
2005-03-19 [Delladreing]: *smiles* i know the feeling, tomorrow there is a druid ritual taking place near me. i cant go but one of my friends is (not fair! lol) so its a quiet ritual at home for me
2005-03-20 [Pyro Mac]: Hello [Delladreing]...remeber me?
2005-03-20 [Delladreing]: yes i do, hello again Pyro, please call me Dela its easier ;)
2005-03-20 [Amayanda]: My usual 'circle group' (unofficial) are all over the place, one at Uni and the other somewhere godforsaken for March Break. So, lonely-like circle for me one of these days... I think I left my bowl for Air at school... crap...
2005-03-21 [Amayanda]: Bah. I'll manage. Stick the inscence in a bottle cap, old school style. ;P
2005-03-21 [Elenaia]: Sorry I didn't reply, havent bin on in a while! I'm about 2 hours drive from London, England! You?
2005-03-21 [Amayanda]: Yikes! That's a distance... I'm way over in Canada, by Toronto. Freezing as hell out here.
