Wolfwood's POV

I remember the way she looked when I first saw her. She was so angry at I fell in love with her in an instant.
It all started after we left Augusta City and headed back into the dessert. It amazed me how anyone could find me. It would have taken a normal human at least two or three days. But I forget-she wasn’t a normal human at all. I still loved her anyways.
So there we were, walking in a hot scorching dessert. Vash was tired and whiney, Meryl was hot yet tried not to show it and Milly was bored. I on the other hand tried to keep my cool.
“I’m bored.” Vash said.
“We know you are, you’ve told us for the millionth time already.” Meryl said in annoyance.
“Sempai,” Milly said. “I’m bored too. Oh, pretty birdie!”
I looked up in the sky to see a huge bird circling over our head. It looked like a hawk-a really big hawk. I had never seen one so big. I didn’t think about it much until I saw it diving towards us. I thought it had seen a grub or something.
“I think we should move.” I said.
When we did move, the hawk turned from a hawk into a tiger with big sharp teeth. Meryl screamed while Milly took out her gun. The tiger paid no attention to them. It just stared at me with a murderous glare before springing out to attack me. I dodged it but it didn’t give up to quickly. From a tiger it quickly changed into a huge queen cobra.
“You look surprised!” It said. It could talk! “Don’t you recognize your own daughter?”
Daughter? I knew I was no longer in Kansas. (What does that mean anyways?) Since when did I have a daughter that could turn into killer animals? Come to think of it, since when did I have a daughter? I didn’t have much time to think about it because she attacked me again. I took out my cross launcher, ready to aim.
“Don’t kill her!” Vash yelled.
“Oh, so I’ll just let her kill me?” I asked in annoyance.
She hissed menacingly. I aimed my launcher and shot. She transformed into a hawk again and them into a gazelle which came charging towards me. I aimed my gun at her head.
“Don’t kill her!” Vash yelled again.
“I’ll try not to.” I answered back.
I took my shot. She let out a scream. The gazelle then turned into the most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on-a lovely young lady.
Blood gushed from her side was she fell to the ground. She lied there, breathing heavily. Her long, wavy, hair black hair was stretched out in front of her and her brown skin was unaffected by the brown dirt that she fell on. A huge puddle of blood quickly formed.
“She not----” Vash began.
“No, she’s still breathing.” I answered.
Meryl took on step closer to her. There was a snarl- the girl was up, trying to slash Meryl. Then she let out a cry of pain and fell back on the ground.
“We should help her.” Milly offered.
“I don’t need help from white filth!” She spat, clutching her wound. “I don’t need any of your help! I----ugh.”
She fell to the ground, her hand still on her wound. I stared at her for a while until I felt the strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. I hadn’t felt it in a long time: it was pity.
“C’mon,” I said, scooping her up. “We’d better get back to town and get her-----”
“WHAT?” Asked Meryl suddenly. “You’re actually going to take care of that thing? It tried to kill you!”
“What kind of priest would I be if I just left her here?” I asked her.
And that was the end of that discussion.
