Paulo Coelho: The Winner Stands Alone review

As I have been used to read mystical, religion-based and philosophical books from Paulo Coelho, The Winner Stands Alone was a positive surprise for me.
The story sets in the Cannes Film Festival and takes place in 24 hours. The narration swifts between Igor, a Russian millionaire who's made his money by sometimes questionable methods; Hamid, Middle Eastern fashion designer; Gabrielle who wants to be part of the film industry; Jasmine, a model on a verge of high success; and a detective Savory, ambitious of solving the crimes that take place in the film festival during the same day.

Coelho puts together a story in which all of the lives of these characters are combined. They touch the lives of each other, maybe for just a while, but with such a force that they are never the same.

The philosphical touch of Coelho is still there in the dialogue, but this novel is more about describing the lives of people in a rough life of film and model industry. If you aren't someone, you're no one. And no one wants to be no one.

Want to be a famous? Read this and think about it for a while.
