2011-11-28 [Dr.Mandarian]: I like the clear-line style so much! Great how you caught all that difficult movements, the horse going wild, the character digging in the snow etc. And I love the ideas of a winter elemental and the horned ice-demon...

2011-11-28 [Yncke]: Thanks, [Dr.Mandarian]. :) I used a reference for the horse going wild; came across quite some unpleasant photos of horse fights while searching for a usable image. :s

2012-02-19 [Dr.Mandarian]: you're so busy workin'! looks great, again! you're immediatly drawn into "head-cinema"... I myself wouldn't be able to draw that way, I guess. My comics always turn out as chains of single images somehow... ( Actually have to read more comics again )Do you maybe know the epic Fantasy-comic series by Régis Loisel and Serge Le Tendre? Don't know the original french title now. But translated from german it's called: On the search for the bird of time... That's my most favourite! Well, many praises in any case for your work ( bumble-bee! ) ^_^

2012-02-21 [Yncke]: Thanks, [Dr.Mandarian], that's encouraging to read. :D Yes, still busy. Trying to make one page a week, although I have my doubts if I'll make it this week. Too many people invited to that ball... :s
It's "La Quête de l'oiseau du temps" in French. Great comic indeed. :)
Yes, I have the feeling as well that drawing comics is something still different from drawing stand alone images. The basics of drawing apply to both, but somehow the skill set for making a good comic is not quite the same as the one for making a good stand alone drawing. (I feel I'm weaker in the latter department. :) )
A good read about the theory of comics, in my opinion, is Scott McCloud's "Understanding Comics".

2012-02-29 [Dr.Mandarian]: One a week sounds good. ( A pity that this new one isn't enlargeable. ) Ah, okay, yes, that's the one. Love the design of the world, the characters - and of course the tricky turn of the story itself...
Yes, right, I agree. But I can see the development of the comic-taletelling right here in your wiki. ( That's one reason why I find it so interesting ) Thanks for that tip, I will remember that book then, when I once sit down to work on a Fantasy-comic again! :) Wish I had the money to begin to collect all my old-time-favourites, again. Jean Giraud, Herrmann Huppen's Jeremiah, Towers of Bos-Maury etc. but... well, * pulls out empty white pocket-inlets * At least I can follow what's coming out new. Mhh, and I am over-excited to see Martin Scorcese's "Hugo Cabret"... am obsessed with Georges Méliès at the moment and about to even buy myself the new coloured version of the voyage to the moon, soundtracked by "Air"...

2012-06-15 [Dr.Mandarian]: That looks ingenious! ( And you said that you can't draw bricks! ) ;)

2012-06-17 [Yncke]: :D Thanks, [Dr.Mandarian]!

2012-09-07 [Dr.Mandarian]: What some great, touching scene! Short and simple, but very moving. You give such beautiful realistic flair to your fantasy world! Thats quite like poetry.

2012-09-07 [Yncke]: :) And the only reason the scene's there is because I needed a bit of page filling to do some symmetry with the following two pages... O:-)

2012-09-11 [9jlriexqk,ktpk]: i love this comic

2012-09-12 [Yncke]: Thank you for that, [9jlriexqk,ktpk], it's encouraging for me to continue. :)

2012-09-12 [9jlriexqk,ktpk]: good. and sell it. i dont buy comics usually but i d make an exception for this

2012-09-13 [Yncke]: Wow, you flatter me. I have no plans of getting it into print, at the moment, but if that changes, I'll certainly announce it here too.

2012-10-19 [9jlriexqk,ktpk]: what other story type comic art do you make? linkage?

2012-10-20 [Yncke]: Most of my comics are on my website, you can find the link on the wiki page above. It's mainly fantasy, but currently I'm also working on a western short story.

2013-07-15 [Dr.Mandarian]: Adore the bird people, too still! Their pelty bee's faces look so cute and still so dignified somehow. Can't even put the finger on what exactly is the special fascination to their look but yeah, great job! ^_^
Uhm, what other major races do you actually have got in your world, except the humans? Would like to know...

2013-07-15 [Yncke]: Thanks, [Dr.Mandarian]! Their look has taken a couple of years to evolve, but I'm happy with them too. :)

Major races... what's major? In terms of political influence in the area where and the time when the Per'Bat story happens, that'll be the demons, the elves and the bird people. In terms of likely candidates to have side roles, I've assembled some of their representatives in a collage for you :) :
<img:stuff/aj/17985/PerBatRaces.jpg>

2013-07-15 [Dr.Mandarian]: Wow, yes, beautiful, I almost remember them all! Well your world is more similar to a region I think, looking at the map you once made... So you're right, major in terms of race is relative in that case... But they're all great! Lookin curiously forward already, when the races might be introduced, I haven't seen being told yet!

2013-07-15 [Yncke]: A region's more accurate, indeed. Eigen may have a Roman look, but it's really not the vast empire kind of country.

Heheh, that may take some time, though, I'm afraid. ;)

2013-07-16 [Dr.Mandarian]: Yeahs, I read you! ^_^ * wink wink * But thanks so much for making this for me. I already purloined a copy ^_^ ( wonder, how "Evermen", "Windmen" and Vannair" will be like! )

2013-07-22 [Dr.Mandarian]: I like the shadow patterns on the last panel ^_^
