Herbology, in a sense, is becoming more and more popular nowadays in the form of suplements and hormone replacement therapies, vitamins and extracts etc etc. But the truth is, herbology is an ancient practice, in many different cultures all around the world, but has been frowned upon over the times as a "pagan" practice, and as our new technological generations began to emerge, was frowned upon as being "metaphysical" which scientists and doctors feel is an untrue form of medicine, biased answers and emotions, but still limited the practice of it significantly. It has only been recelty that the powers of herbs have been reborn and reaccepted as new, modern studies are showing that all these "metaphysical" folk had the right idea all along. Though, olde herbology, or true herbology comes in a much different form than your GNC supplements, a much more effective and raw form.
Herbology was once used as a daily practice of medicine for curse, or relief of common everyday ailments, such as aches and pains, headaches, poor circulation etc etc, but it was also used to relax and sooth the mind, body and soul. Certain properties from certain herbs were used to create medical and spiritual healings and connections --- it was also a common practice to use herbology in cermonies, cooking, for healing and for prevention of ailments. There were many different ways to do this, some more common than others, a few more potent than some, and others to extract very specific parts of the plant that were wanted --- for instance, there are some herbs and plants that are highly, highly toxic and would mean certain death if you were to take them as modern herbal supplements are, but using special prodecures you could extract their good properties and not the harmful ones and be able to use them without any harmful side effects ---- these procedures were developed into topical and internal treatments.

Topical treatments were used to target certain physical ailments, as well as a good use for the more toxic plants, while the internal medicines were used for internal ailments, mental or spiritual ailments. The topical medicines included powders, pastes, gums, creams and wraps for the body, while the internal ones could be used in cooking to make special food to help with wounds, teas, powders or grounds to snort, or dried to smoke.
Many times the internal procedures were much more potent and faster acting, but the topical solutions were essential in cases of open wounds, or poisonous herbs with good healing properties.

For centuries herbology was a great success and solution for medical treatment, as the people grew great knowleadge on the plants around them, but nowadays is a much more dangerous practice --- people are not as aware of their environment nowadays to know what is safe and what isn't. Many people today think that herbs can be a cure-all miracle for anything---- which is far from the truth, though highly effective if taken properly, they can also be extremely harmful, even the good properties in them, if taken too much, too often or for the wrong reasons. For instance----black cohosh can be found at any vitamin or supplemental shopp, and now can even be found in every day pharmacies or drug stores. It's great to use as a vitamin for energy and circulation, and many people take it regularly, but the truth is if taken in large amounts, it can be lethal as the essence of the plant is toxic.....but you wont find that warning on any of the labels, as most people -- including the people who produce and make the vitamins don't even know that. That is why the eldar practices of druidic and pagan herbology is so essential to people interested in even modern herbology, because the olde practices have been passed down generation to generations, and even olde records have been found world wide in the celtic lands, african cultures, and is still used regularly in modern society in Asia--- these older traditions can give warnings and proper, important information about herbs, especially the more rare herbs that many modern scientist and medical pratitioners don't know about because they are relatively knew to the practice, while these records are ancient, die hard practices that have been used and experienced, and relied on for centuries --- though they may be a bit harder to dig up then just preforming a few tests, they still can be very helpful. This guide will be to help you learn what herbs hold what propteries, how to use them how NOt to use them and what they are good for with a guide that will help you create your own supplements, and even things to take note of or be warey of when looking for and taking modern herbal supplements --- but you always have to keep in mind, though it may be an ancient practive, and though it may be "metaphysical" it is not the cure-all solution and can still be just as dangerous as modern medicines.

2005-06-30 [Dark_Druid]: This is interesting. Maybe you should put something up about the properties of trees and the calender system. Samhain and all that.

2005-10-08 [hive]: The Last Harvest. The Earth nods a sad farewell to the God. We know that He will once again be reborn of the Goddess and the cycle will continue. This is the time of reflection, the time to honor the Ancients who have gone on before us and the time of 'Seeing" (divination). As we contemplate the Wheel of the Year, we come to recognize our own part in the eternal cycle of Life.

2006-07-23 [Copper LeGree]: just a question... could you break up the text a bit? ...it looks a little bad when all the text is all in one (well almost) with no spaces between. just a friendly tip ^_^

2007-10-15 [Cruptedangel]: hey

2007-10-16 [Mordigen]: yea -- thanks for all the feedback guys, I'll get working on new lessons to add in soon that will encompass some of the sabbaths and such and the calendars --- and LeGree: what exactly do you mean? Does it need some underlines or headers or something to better orient it?

2007-10-17 [Cruptedangel]: i thnk maybe some underlins will make it seem more important
