Questions of a Metaphysical Nature

Back to Metaphysics

regarding your questions about dreams and physical injuries.

This is only my opinion.

There are several ways that the body can become injured or marked from dreams. The first way, it is generally movement from you as you are in REM sleep, maybe flailing around or whatnot. This is the usual form of injury

The second way is that during REM, your body is incased into the reality of your dream. Or at least your mind thinks it is. Sometimes the body can develop psychological injuries, that transfer over to physical injury, almost like a fingerprint. Your mind can create and transfer a mental stimuli so intense in the dream that the body reacts by creating 'sympathetic' injury to itself.

The third and most remote possibility is what I call dream transferral. This is the opinion (movies, and romanticized paranormal 'experts') that an entity that resides in some other plane of existance other than the prime material plane (where we are) has caused you harm, that has become transferred through dream. Keep in mind this is the most illogical and overdramatic version of thinking.. There are many things outside our visual/physical spectrum, but a demon named Naarsgath who is out to take you and your boyfriend's soul is not one of them. Teens tend to hang on to this version simply because it puts them inside an imaginary world where they feel they can make a difference, or be powerful. You find many of these types around.

i hope that helps you somewhat. :)

2005-11-07 [hive]: i smell things sometimes in my dreams, and more then once i have felt things. i had a phsyic friend of mine tell me once that the reason i was sleepy all the time was because im so busy in my dreams, lol.

2006-10-06 [Urecht]: I have woken up in the mourning before with cuts and bruisses. Normally people would think i was just thrashing around in my sleep but I didn't. I had video taped my self sleeping for some class i dont remember and i didn't thrash about. I still haven't figured out where the wounds ever came from.

2007-02-05 [nokaredes]: Anytime I sleep in a room with someone else (say, on a sleepover) the other person/people complain of getting the least restful sleep that they can remember...

2007-05-14 [The Voice of Difference]: I tend to give off a lot of Energy, and when other people sleep in the room, they fall into a really deep, good sleep. But conversly, I don't sleep well.
