RDM RP Page #6
"Very well Malias," was the stout reply from Erindor.
-Take us back Erador, and quickly...more blood is not meant to be shed tonight.-. The large emerald dragon responded in a deeply vibrating rumble in his chest before rotating perpendicular with the dark earth below, and whipped around to head back from whence they came.
"I feel the need to point out Lord Malias, that some time we must attack...retre
ating at the first sign of trouble may save our necks, but not the neck of our goal. If we have the power, and the time, being submissive will cause only a dominant force to wash over us like a great wave. Action instead of reaction is needed, and soon," pointed out Erindor, re-gripping a leather saddle strap in his hand.
Suddenly, Amrevar coughed as blood strolled down the sides of his mouth; he muttered a few words and the wound was healed, but his puntured lung remained injured. He coughed again as the blood continued flow...he somehow loved it...He would be in this state for the rest of his life...
There was a glittering pool of clear water he had come to; he then muttered some words and the water began to change into an image. Thoughts and memoried of Theria entered his mind. "She is alive...I revived her with the dragon blood after...Drazon returned life into me...a hundred years ago...Then she left me...for fear that it would happen again...memories of Theria had been far too distant for her to remember...I have to find her...she is in Zeria..."
An image of Mavria appeared upon the water's shifting surface, she had been sitting upon a chair in a quiet room until a man entered. Amrevar growled as he watched him grab her arm to beat her. "Jierda!" The dark lord shouted. Then the man's neck snapped in two and the head came rolling upon the floor. Mavria screamed as she backed up, but the image faded as Amrevar stepped back with a sinister glare. "I knew she was in Zeria... I have been there..."
A young boy, possibly about two years older than Theria entered the cave, with a slight smile on his face. "I heard there were dragon eggs up here," he said as he leaned back on the cave wall and put his hands behind his head. Then he looked to the eggs and laughed. "...and they were right. Congrats, Illatrius."
"Thank you," Illatrius replied as she nuzzled the eggs.
The boy turned his head to Theria whom flicked her white cat tail. "You must be Theria. Hi."
"Hi," Theria replied with a giggle. "Who might you be?"
"Oh...sorry...I'm Enrias," he replied when he brought his arms down and folded them.
"Nice to meet you." Theria smiled.
"Same here...So...How many eggs are there?"
"Only five," Theria replied.
"That's cool...I guess...hm...I was wondering." Enrias turned his head towards Illatrius and Drazon. "Could I...um...heh..."
"Have an egg?" Illatrius asked with a laugh.
"Yeah..."
"Of course," the starlight dragon replied.
"Thanks..."
"I'm getting one too," Theria said with delight.
"Cool...We can both be dragon riders then."
"Yeah!"
Drazon snorted,"...are we letting just anyone have one of our eggs?"
"Enrias is a good child. I've known him ever since he was brought to Sar'dan. He's favored by Malias. I trust him with one," Illatrius replied.
Enrias calmly laughed.
Drazon snorted again and looked the boy over,"...i sense power in you, young one."
Enrias only sighed and grew calm; he ran his fingures through the hair that covered his right eye. "I...I am still learning..."
Amrevar felt himself suddenly become weak as he turned to face a black stone table; he growled as he looked upon a purple mask. "It...has been a while...," he said as some memory came back to him. Amrevar came over to the table and picked up the mask with a cold glare, but then he grinned when a memory came to him about when he first met Mavria. The mask held black etchings that...didn't seem to mean much to him yet when he looked at the only eye slit, a memory of his other brother, now dead, came to him. "That was a long time ago...Nothing matters anymore..." He placed the mask on his face and turned his head towards one of two other doors in the chamber. His right eye suddenly became a glowing red as he narrowed it.
He calmly walked to the door and opened it; there, within the room, was a stable which held a pure black horse. "Deathrider...," Amrevar muttered in nearly a whisper.
Drazon looked him over again before turning his back and falling asleep.
"There is no end to learning," Illatrius said with a smile.
"Yeah...well..." He gave out a sigh. "I'm...not doing so well in my training... I was told to come up here and ask for an egg by my master...When it is hatched, I am going on a six year long journey with him..."
"Six years? Is it really that long!?" Theria asked.
"Yeah..."
Drazon snorted,"...six years? nothing."
Sparhawk roamed and found himself in a town, he landed on the outskirts and used his keen vision to see if the town was friendly. He decided not and grinned, all the more fun. He shifted his hefty bulk and started walking into the town, this was definately going to be fun.
Enrias shrugged. "He says 'Training is hard work. I had to go through the same thing when I was your age'," Enrias replied sarcastically. "Geez..."
"That doesn't mean that you have to go through with it," Theria said.
"Yes...I have to...and I understand him...eh...Gets me angry though." Enrias growled.
Amrevar thought for a moment before going to the horse; he ran his fingured through its thick mane and marveled as foam irupted from its mouth. He darkly laughed. "You're still cursed..." The horse only bobbed its head and neighed as it turned its head. "Very well, be that way. I am going to have to ride you much later...Be thankful that you are well taken care of." He patted the side of the horses neck when it only snorted in reply. He left the small stable and came into the chamber.
"I know," Malias replied, "but Amrevar keeps to his word...I am going to have to trust him...We still have Theria under our protection."
Erador snorted, -trust him? I wouldn't go that far. Predicting that he probably won't inflict harm for fear of losing Theira is how I'd term it. I say this mostly because dragons earn trust, not give it away.- Erindor frowned at Erador's bluntness, but he felt he was right to a degree. "How much longer Lord Malias do we have Theria under our protection?" queried Erindor, trying to guage exactly how much more time until the inevitable.
Malias only sighed. "Indeed...It greatly depends...Once Theria obtains the dragon promised to her, I have to train her until I see that she is ready to travel on her own..." The Elven lord calmly looked up at the bright moon in thought. "I am doubtful of Amrevar...something tells me that he shall not keep to his word..."
"Aye, he might decide he makes a better guardian of her after all." Erindor loosened his sword in its sheath, "I've noted too, that ones with power, have less patience." Erador snorted in agreement before banking a gradual left back to the glowing web of Lord Malias' city.
"Then shall we continue our way to Mavenethar?" Malias asked. "He may already know we are coming."
"Perhaps...for safety," answered Erindor. Erador however had a different idea, -Malias, I would very much wish to visit some of my kin first allong the way. Illatrius and Drazon in particular. Its a minor detour from the voyage Mavenethar, about fifteen leagues to the north west.- Erindor had his mind set elsewhere, -Erador, we must do what's safe, not what's convenient for what you want.- That earned Erindor a disgruntled hiss from Erador.
Ickidor was traveling down a path using his tracking skills to find someone."I'm close very close."
Amrevar exited his dark castle and looked out, glaring at the dead forests that were far down below him from the cliff. His eye suddenly became white from its red glow; his entire body began to become like a living shadow.
Before Malias could speak, his eyes caught the semblence of a shadow dragon heading towards them from below; its eyes were white. "Erador!"
The beast growled as it came towards them with great speed. It came past them, nearly knocking Erindor and Malias off of Erador, but the dragon never returned so it could continue its way for what ever destination held within its mind.
"Something tells me... that that wasn't an ordinary Shadow dragon... It was more like dark magic," Malias said as he looked towards the creature. Then he looked down and could scarcely believe his eyes. "Erindor, look down." There was a emmense army of Fell and Shadow dragon alike, but there was one more kind of beast that marched alongside them. There were taupe-skinned creatures with large hairy snouts and eyes that resembled that of a cat. They were very strong and stood taller than the tallest Elf; these beasts had more muscle than that which accompanied them. There armour was thick and black including the large broad swords they carried as weapons. A great number of them followed behind carrying black etched bows and quivers of some kind of arrow.
Erador let loose an annoyed roar, loud enough to be heard, but not necessarily spotted in the night. -Silence Erador please!- hissed Erindor. Erador complied, but Erindor could feel a burning intensity from Erador. "What a welcoming party we seem to have here," observed Erindor sarcastically. He drew his sword, Valourne, from its sheath across his back and held it at rest across the saddle's front. "It is dark magic, and too much for Erador and I to handle alone safely."
-You're too careful sometimes brother- scorned Erador. "We will fight when the time is correct, not when we randomly feel like it Era-." His words were cut a few letters short as Erador corkscrewed through the air to dodge a blast of dark magic, which was nearly invisible in the night except that it bent starlight around it. Erador righted from the tight spin inside the shadow of a dense cloud. "Looks to be a long night lord Malias," observed Erador as that same shadow dragon from before swooped up at an oblique angle, Erador however was ready this time.
The beasts ripped through the air at each other, maws open ready to bathe the other in an inferno. Inches from impact, the shadow dragon vanished, Erador spent no time pondering why and backwinged into a cloud, the moon shining off of its white top. Water condensed on the cloud's new occupants, -Malias, began Erindor, mental speech for added stealth, -I believe you might want to explain a few things before we risk life and limb for our duties.-
Illatrius looked out towards the cave enterance with wide eyes. "Drazon...."
"What's wrong?" Enrias asked.
"We mustn't fight them! We have to defend Sar'dan for the attack! My men aren't ready! Who knows if the enemy is marching for the city! We must warn my people!" Malias shouted. "There are Hert'zar within the army! They will destroy my armies if their not prepared!"
Erindor held up a hand, "I don't believe we said we would...yet. Very well Malias." At that, Erador tore from the cloud with blinding speed, an emerald meteor streaking malachite coloured moonlight across the velvety star speckled expanse. Locking his wings to his sides, Erador let gravity pull them in towards Sar'dan, specifically towards the barraks and military fortifications of the city if his course was true. The wind ripped and whistled past them. Yet a third of a league from the city, Erador let out a haunting war bugle ringing out in deep draconian bass tones throughout the city. "An advanced warning!" explained Erindor to Malias over the roaring wind.
Amrevar appeared in front of his army like a mist with his magic and turned to them when he was beckoned. "Where were you, my lord?" the lead Hert'zar asked with impatience.
"I was delayed...I was interfered in my travel...No more questions... Wait until you see a dragon and two riders land within the city walls. I do not plan on harming them...yet...Malias is among them," Amrevar replied coldly. "After that, be patient enough to wait for my signal...Stay in the shadow of the trees..."
The beast only nodded in reply and stepped back into the forest.
Drazon looked up,"...Lets go." He said as he walked over to the cave opening.
"No...not yet," Illatrius replied quietly. "I must wait until my master calls for me... I sense evil...your former master's army awaits outside of the city. We must stay as quiet as possible and well hidden before then..."
"Enrias quickly drew his sword. "The Dark Lord's army!" Enrias growled. "Let me at him!"
Illatrius growled behind clenched teeth. "No, young one! You are not ready yet to face the armies of the enemy!" she snarled. "Besides, I don't sense Amrevar's presence...it feels like a lesser evil."
Amrevar stepped back into the shadows. "Do any of you weild a spare sword...?"
"Yes, my lord," a Hert'zar quickly replied in its rough voice. "Did you not bring one?" He handed a black hilted sword to Amrevar and he took it swiftly.
"No...I didn't... for Malias would have recognized the sword of the Dark Lord..." Amrevar answered coldly. "What about that of an axe?"
The beast nodded and forcefully seized a one-handed battle axe from one of its kin; he handed it to his master who took it without saying a word.
Dirt and air billowed past the sleepy windows of Sar'dan under night from Erador's mighty wings. The three landed heavily at the city's center, straps on the saddle keeping the riders from toppling off of the dragon. The barraks were allready coming alive with confused activity from the prior warning. "Make haste Malias, organize your troops, I will assist," said Erindor jumping the twenty feet from the saddle to the ground easily. Erindor sheathed Valourne, he wouldn't need it yet. -Malias,- Erador began, -from last word I heard that you had yet three fully manned corps readily equipped. That was yet a month ago, how many more soldiers are prepared now?-
"At least three times that...we have not dealt with battle for a few days, but Amrevar's Fell barely touched my troops...yet the Hert'zar will do more than just harm now that they travel with the enemy," Malias replied calmly as he drew his sword. "Illatrius, I need you!" he called out thorugh his mind.
Illatrius suddenly got to her feet and nodded to Drazon. "Malias has called me. Let us go now and meet with him. Theria! Enrias! You stay here and keep out of the enemies sight!" She made her way to thecave enterance when the children nodded in reply. She outspread her wings and took flight into the dinly lit sky. The sun was slowly rising as time passed, but it seemed like forevor until true daylight.
