Above This is where we worked every thursday for a while. Right in the middle of the river valley, so it was quite pretty down there (not that you can tell from that picture, of course. You have Brad showing us how to pick up a horses hoof to pick it (translation: clean it out) and the Megs with Lady Sarah, and me with Saffire.

Above Gina (my room mate this year) Kristina and patches, Erin, and a shot I just kinda liked..

Above Jen brushing her horse at the beginning of one of the labs (that how we started every morning, it was very relaxing, but it made my allergies act up something fierce) Picking out Saffrire's hooves (she was great on the front feet but always tried to pull her hind ones away from me)Me and Ann taking heart girth (part of getting their weight calculated) and seeing how many hands high she was (about 14, if I remember correctly..)

Above Ash wrapping her horses legs with pressure bandages, which are some times used when the horses will be trailered for a long time for transport to prevent swelling, Gina and Kristina getting the other measurement needed to calculate their weight, Dr. Blair relaxing in his "Director's Chair", and just another shot I liked

Above And I've included the pictures from equine dental day because there weren't enough to merit their own page.
The horse is sedated and a mouth gag put in so they can't close their mouth on your hand. Ann is reaching in to feel the teeth (their mouthes wont open large enough to really see) to decide where they need to be ground off. The horse is trying to chew on your hand while you're doing this, and it's quite an un-nerving feeling. Gina and I had to hold up the head of the second horse we did because the other group got the head prop you see in the first photo. I'm guessing most people dont know how much a horse's head weighs. When they're not holding it up on their own.. it's -Heavy-! Boney too, which is why I have Brad's big jacket on my shoulder for padding. And using the power tool. That was fun.
