Essence

My essence is a robin
caged and yet quite free.
My essence is a birch tree
White and yet all black.

My essence is a butterfly
blue with black designs.
Held captive by its own small mind
yet free to roam the land.

My essence is a candle stick,
elegant and black.
With one small light upon itself,
the wick, which looked pure white.

My essence is a misty forest
you'll get lost among the trees.
Forsaken my all paths you find,
you're stranded, yet at ease.

My essence is the shifting wind,
ever-changing as I roam
the wild lands, unknown to all,
but to those who come upon them.

My essence is quite complicated,
that I know quite well;
For who else can be all of this,
and still be all one's self?
